To take Dd to Hospital

So Dd12 had a sore tummy yesterday. It's a band across her stomach from under her tummy button to the top of her thighs.

Last night she did 5 poos and vomited multiple times in the night.

This evening the pain is worse. 9.5/10. Pain killers are making no difference. Spasfon no difference either. She has a temp of 38.7. No vomit and no poo. She feels like she needs to poo. She hasn't eaten all day.

I've rung the French equivalent of 101. They said wait to see Dr. appointment at 11.45 tomorrow.

Tonight is the big student night so hospitals will be full later.

Do I go or not?

My ds has appendicitis and didnt have the classic signs.
He was seen by gp at 4 and by 4.15 we were in our way to hospital - he found the speed bumps on the way there very painful.

Tefiti2 · 08/12/2018 00:05

Another nurse here - who can’t believe you were sent home with a CRP so high!! Please take her back in xx

startingafresh1 · 08/12/2018 00:07

Has anyone considered an ovarian cyst? OP's daughter is v young, but it's not unheard of....

I should state that I am having issues with an ovarian cyst myself so my post is bound to be biased but some of her symptoms like extreme pain, raised temp, sickness etc can be caused by a leaking or ruptured cyst I think.

Worth a thought maybe?

All the best OP. Don't be afraid of making a great big fuss to get your DD seen again.

makingmiracles · 08/12/2018 00:08

YEs take her back if no improvement, like @donttouchthatlarry friends son, i was told def not appendix, turns out after ct scan with contrast, appendix on opposite side of body as have malrotated bowel! They never seen it in an adult (95% diagnosed in babies under 1month so suspicion is low) but the pain you describe is similar and my crp was very high too.

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/12/2018 00:16

That CRP is so so high. That would be me asking, could it be sepsis. I really hope you've gone back to hospital and your DD is ok.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 08/12/2018 00:17

Gosh that CRP is worrying. Take her back OP.

YouBoggleMyMind · 08/12/2018 00:23

@Leonie87 CRP is an infection marker. My understanding is that for no infection to be present it should be under 5. OP's DD shows it being well over 200. (PPs Please correct me if I am wrong here!) Looks scarily like my DS's blood work when he had a severe UTI that gave him sepsis, meningitis and endocarditis.

My hubbys appendix wasn't normal either so didn't have the normal signs. Hope you get some answers

InsomniacAnonymous · 08/12/2018 00:30

All these posts are very worrying. I hope the OP has seen them and has taken her DD back to hospital.

Leonie87 · 08/12/2018 00:47

Thank you.

LondonLassInTheNorthPole · 08/12/2018 00:50

makingmiracles

I have malrotation of the intestines and my appendix is on the other side, so symptoms are very different when i have things going on, they will often scan me as they cant presume a diagnosis based on area of the pain, because anywhere between the breast bone and pelvis, literally nearly everything is in the wrong place

LondonLassInTheNorthPole · 08/12/2018 00:51

Hope your at the hospital with your child OP

Weenurse · 08/12/2018 00:52

💐

Wallywobbles · 08/12/2018 01:24

At the hospital now. Nurse thinks it's appendix. Junior doc seems ready to send us home.

OP posts:
Leonie87 · 08/12/2018 01:26

I’d refuse point blank until they’d ruled out appendix tbh. Granted it may not be as simple as that.

LurpakIsTheOnlyButter · 08/12/2018 01:32

Really high CRP infection marker.

Any concerns straight back to hospital please.

Interesting interpreting lab results in French!

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 01:34

How worrying. I would ask them to explain the blood results to you. In a calm manner. Ask like an idiot. 'I've heard a CRP result this high is abnormal - what do you think?' kind of thing? It might get them to think about them more carefully (not that I doubt the doctor) but your child is obviously unwell.

LurpakIsTheOnlyButter · 08/12/2018 01:37

I second appendix from my experience. Do not let them send you home without investigation.

Stand your ground.

Jeanclaudejackety · 08/12/2018 01:38

Just refuse to leave. Tell them you're really worried and want a second opinion.

PointlessPigeon · 08/12/2018 01:38

Hope she is better soon

LurpakIsTheOnlyButter · 08/12/2018 01:39

Ask junior doc how he values his job. And his chances in court.

Wallywobbles · 08/12/2018 02:04

They're doing an échographie. We are just waiting for the person to arrive. I'm impressed by the speed of it. So was the senior doctor. She thinks it's not a gastro.

I hope they see something that explains it properly.

OP posts:
Thedukes · 08/12/2018 02:12

Ok, good luck.

InsomniacAnonymous · 08/12/2018 02:16

I'm relieved you're at the hospital but shocked that the junior doctor wants to send you home. Your poor daughter is suffering and needs treatment, not sending home!
