To think nobody actually likes sprouts and it's a huge conspiracy

I did this thread last year but it got ruined by all the NASALTs that troll this forum. Everyone knows they are the worst part of Xmas dinner and take up valuable plate space which could have something tasty instead. Hoping this year that MN has come to its senses.

I like sprouts but...
Sprout soup??? 🤢

Hofuckingho · 02/12/2018 22:25

We all love them. ❤️❤️❤️

moredoll · 02/12/2018 22:27

I love sprouts unless they're overcooked, then they're ghastly.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 02/12/2018 22:31

LOVE sprouts!

FloweringOrchid · 02/12/2018 22:33

My DS (6) has an actual phobia of sprouts. I have no idea why. The fuss he made at the dinner table last Christmas because of the bowl of sprouts on the table was ridiculous. Hes already asked if he can eat in a seperate room this year, and he shudders whenever he sees sprout related tat in the shops.

HarryTheSteppenwolf · 02/12/2018 22:41

I like sprouts. I prefer cabbage (most kinds) but there's nothing wrong with sprouts.

Never liked parsnips, though. Especially roast parnsips with burnt thin ends.

Willow2017 · 02/12/2018 22:45

Sprouts are fab cooked properly, not for hours!
Especially good with bacon and chestnuts Grin
Popping sprouts off a stalk and peeling any grubby outer leaves off is very theraputic too.

My ds1 likes them raw. Grin

OTOH parnsips are the devils own food.

Vicky1990 · 02/12/2018 22:49

Sprouts, food of the gods.
We don't bother with anything else, just a plate of sprouts and gravy for Christmas dinner, magic.

Sunhill4 · 02/12/2018 22:52

Totally agree wirh you to the extent i don't cook them with Xmas dinner. Nobody i know likes them!!

showmeshoyu · 02/12/2018 22:52

Quiet... you're onto something big... bigger than all of us. The Illuminatea ruled 5000 years ago that diners should evermore have the small, bitter cabbages of shame to remind us of the burning of Santa Claus but even more importantly to shift their shitton of inedible devil balls that we call sprouts.

I've said too much... wait there's a knocking at the door.

No nnooooo no it wasn't me

Adore sprouts. In our house it’s green beans, sprouts, carrots and sweet corn!

Celticrose · 02/12/2018 23:27

Love sprouts but DH doesn't. Remember when living at home helping myself to the cold leftover sprouts
delicious

EllaDownTheLane · 02/12/2018 23:35

Love them! they have to be cooked perfectly though or they’re nasty.

stopgap · 02/12/2018 23:39

I like the tarted-up sprouts you can get at most nice restaurants as a side—ones sautéed with bacon, chopped onions and butter; ones roasted in maple syrup etc.

The boiled to a death smush ones from my childhood, not so much.

WinterfellWench · 02/12/2018 23:40

I love spouts, and have them at least twice a month.

With a roast meal obvs.

WinterfellWench · 02/12/2018 23:41

What is a NASALT?

nocoolnamesleft · 02/12/2018 23:44

YANBU The mere smell of sprouts is nauseating.

bershetmelon · 02/12/2018 23:45

God I hate them but I have to have one (just one) on my plate to eat on Christmas Day.

I don't know why, I just do, wouldn't be Christmas otherwise.

It's the only day of the year I'll eat one though and I look at the bowl full with utter contempt knowing I'll have to eat one of the vile little buggers lol

TheWiseWomansFear · 03/12/2018 00:38

Nah, I love sprouts and eat them year round

FloofyDoof · 03/12/2018 05:11

Sprouts are grim. I usually do green beans or tenderstem broccoli, or romanesco sometimes, just for a bit of green veg with Christmas dinner. Neither of my teens will eat sprouts either, so would be a bit pointless me cooking them!

Yura · 03/12/2018 06:54

i love them!

Yura · 03/12/2018 06:55

however, sprouts need to be prepared properly, not cooked into a mush! mushy sprouts are grim

sashh · 03/12/2018 07:06

I love sprouts. I always have, as a child they were the best part of Xmas dinner.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 03/12/2018 09:02

NASALT
Not all sprouts are like that [santa]

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 03/12/2018 09:09

I have to have one (just one)

This is how my DCs started out - just one. Now they each have more than a dozen of the little sphericals of green gorgeousness on their plates.

Let one in and that's all it takes to start you on the stairway to sprout heaven. [santa]
