Two black cleaners? Really?

Fresta · 27/11/2018 20:57

Watching 'How to Spend it Well' on ITV.

AIBU to think that having a load of kids make a mess and then getting two black women in to clean up after them is not really an image we should be reinforcing?

What were they thinking?

Why women cleaners? Why black women? Why couldn't it have been a man and a woman?

So if two black cleaners come to my office to clean should I turn them away? 😕

Singlebutmarried · 27/11/2018 21:01

I was just watching this and wondered how long before this post would appear 😂

Fishcakey · 27/11/2018 21:02

Maybe they applied for the jobs?!

DuckAndPancakes · 27/11/2018 21:03

Context is key.

So confused as to what you’re talking about.

R3b3kah · 27/11/2018 21:04

No I would be thinking why everyone gets offended easy, and why you would even question? How odd

Tentomidnight · 27/11/2018 21:04

I thought the same, not sure if IABU, but it made me cringe.

UterusUterusGhali · 27/11/2018 21:05

Because intersectionality?

Because women, and in particular black women are afforded fewer opportunities because of an institutionaly racist and patriarchal society?

madmother1 · 27/11/2018 21:05

They were a Mother and daughter cleaning team! Nothing to get worked up about.

AnnieOH1 · 27/11/2018 21:06

I'm actually horrified you even noticed. Why the heck can't people just be people? The world is going backwards.

Bunnybigears · 27/11/2018 21:06

Why does it matter what colour their skin is?

AtlasShrugged · 27/11/2018 21:07

Because intersectionality? isn't that the word SJW's use when they get offended on behalf of others?

GirlAtTheRockShow · 27/11/2018 21:08

I literally didn't even notice they were both black or both women! Hmm until this post!

BonnieandHyde · 27/11/2018 21:08

Step away from your sjw keyboard. Go to bed.

Bluerussian · 27/11/2018 21:09

I wouldn't object to two black women cleaning up after me. I'd be delighted whatever colour they were, or even if they were men, or a man and a woman. I'm no domestic goddess and am happy to pay anybody to do jobs. Why would their colour and sex make any difference? Or have a missed the point.

greendale17 · 27/11/2018 21:13

What a ridiculous thread

FascinatingCarrot · 27/11/2018 21:15

Ridiculous.

huggybear · 27/11/2018 21:16

Yes, YABU and weird to have even thought anything about it.

jarhead123 · 27/11/2018 21:17

I think you have issues for even considering this as an issue. It's just two people cleaning...doesnt matter their gender or race

TrudeauGirl · 27/11/2018 21:17

They were mother and daughter weren't they? A cleaning mother daughter team.

ImpendingDisaster · 27/11/2018 21:18

I doubt it's anything but a coincidence. I've had about 20 cleaners in the UK and all have been white.

Kemer2018 · 27/11/2018 21:19

Are the black people complaining? Probably not.
Stop being so perpetually offended and let people fight their own battles should they choose.

Betsy86 · 27/11/2018 21:20

Im sure they were on a cleaning show on tv before, mum and daughter team with there own business.
2 women earning there living and most probably getting paid well and getting some free advertising out of it seems like a win to me!

Rachelle3211 · 27/11/2018 21:24

I find the obsession with race bizarre. They were two women working. What's wrong with that?

BerriTerri · 27/11/2018 21:26

Haven’t seen the programme but sounds a bit mental, people of different colours have various jobs. As long as they were paying them the going rate- whatever

dayswithaY · 27/11/2018 21:26

The two women you are referring to are a mother and daughter cleaning team who specialise in cleaning abandoned council properties. They were featured on an ITV show about disgusting homes and who has to clean them. They are minor TV personalities a bit like Kim and Aggie not two randoms dropped in for controversy.
