AIBU about being grassed up

Not so much of an AIBU but am posting for traffic.
A so called friend has gone to my boss because I said something negative about work on FB. Where I work takes that sort of thing VERY seriously. I don't think what I said was that bad, I expressed I didn't like my job or the team I work with (some of them are ok). I didn't say anything bad about the organisation itself but when asked, I stupidly said where I worked and have "damaged the organisation's reputation".
I am more pissed off that a "friend" has said something and actually screenshotted the post to show my boss.
Just a friendly reminder to be careful who you trust and becareful what you post on social media.

You are being unreasonable. Never post anything on social media about work, or anyone that you wouldn't say to their faces.

Sounds like you should have known better so you can't really blame your friend. I would just admit to yourself and your manager that this is a lesson learned.

Yes it’s a shame that your friend reported you but really you've brought this on yourself. You knew comments of this nature were banned by your social media policy but you did it anyway. It’s not your friends fault you thought the rules didn’t apply to you.

It's very immature to slag off your employer on social media (as is using the term 'grassed up') and you were aware of the policy. This would've been gross misconduct and dismissal in the government department I work for. Assuming your 'friend' world's for the same place, what do you think would've happened to get if she'd seen it and done nothing, then someone else had reported it and your employer realised she and you are FB friends, you put her in a difficult position where she could've been pulled into a mess of your making. The only one who's done something wrong here is you.

That’s irrelevant. By lambasting them on social media you are bringing the company into disrepute and where I work that is gross misconduct. You can easily get fired for it.

Pmsl, are you actually surprised work didn't like that? It is very different having a conversation with your manager to posting it all over social media. That person is not your friend however.

Your 'friend' is a meddling, officious twat. I don't care for this idea that companies own their employees to the extent that employees can't vent their feelings when off-duty, anyway, but I really don't care for someone who is willing to run sneaking to teacher when it means causing unnecessary trouble for someone else.

Maybe your friend likes her job and the rest of the team and was a bit miffed to see people she liked being brought down on SM because you had a bad day in work.

Companies are so so over-protective when it comes to anything being posted about them on social media, all it takes is one post to just happen to get 100k+ views or whatever.

YABVU. You knew how the company felt and still did it. You are tarnishing the company by saying slagging off the team you work with. It doesn't matter if your boss knows how you feel about it anyway, it should stay off social media

Your friend had every right to report you. You willingly and knowingly broke their rules and went behind their backs to slag off the business.

Instead of turning this into "woe is me" for someone you know grassing you in, just accept you effed up and deal with it.

For the record, in my company its a sackable offence for putting anything on social media that portrays the company in a negative light. Check your contract there could be some consequences coming your way

If as a manager I could see that sort of post, it would be a disciplinary offence. If you were on probation I wouldn’t continue your employment. If you were post inspection I’d give you a formal written warning.

If you had decent security settings and I couldn’t see the post, I’d not be able to do much about it unless your friend shared a screen print.

I can’t believe adults are so daft as to publicly criticise their colleagues and employer so openly.
