Butter on bread?

A light hearted one to solve a long running silly dispute between me and DP.

I like buttered bread. So do the kids. I butter toast, toasted teacakes, use it in sandwiches etc. DH maintains that this habit is disgusting, revolting and a strange abberation. He claims that lots of people hate butter with a passion and that I am the unusual person. (I am struggling to think of a single other person who feels as strongly on this topic)

So Mumsenet. What the verdict?

I LOVE butter! The thicker it's spread the better 😁
DH doesn't use butter, or any kind of substitute, but he knows he's the weird one! One of my DC doesn't eat butter either.

I have fond memories of Shergar butter

What is wrong with butter haters???

A local lunch/sandwich shop (and 12 years in Australia have shown me they (shops) know bugger all about sandwiches) has substituted margarine in all their sandwiches. I can't imagine why, as most of the rest of the ingredients fail the vegan test. They have lost my infrequent custom.

I've just gone to get the butter out to make some toast for lunch.

My butter hating husband did the food shop this weekend. He's only gone and bought unsalted!! WTF?? We have been together almost 11 years and he buys unsalted butter?

FUMING!

Eliza you need to try the student special - two variants:

- buttered toast (2) with a slice of buttered bread between; or

- buttered bread (2) with a slice of buttered toast between.

Basically both variants are mostly butter!

I heard about this years ago, being touted as an austerity sandwich. I tried the toast in bread version and it was not good.

@MaryShelley1818

I love cheese scones too! I use a Delia recipe I found on YouTube but up the cheese quantity she recommends Grin
