To ask how often you have a takeaway/eat out?

Honestly?

I like to have a takeaway once a week but want to cut this back to save money/lose weight.

Usually about once a week, but we cut down this time of year as it’s spare cash that could better be saved for Xmas.

NoMalone · 09/11/2018 11:27

Possibly once every two months and then pizza takeaway. We rarely eat out, more so during the summer and then maybe once a month so, probably 4 times a year! Not a lot I think but we live in a rural area so the choices aren't great. If I lived in a city with good restaurants and take aways then I would be at least a once a week type!

Roomba · 09/11/2018 11:29

Once or twice a year, usually when family visit and we decide we fancy a night off cooking as a treat.

Annajohnsdottir · 09/11/2018 11:29

We used to get one takeaway a week but have dropped back to every other week to try and be healthier. We eat out maybe 4 times a year. Don't like spending the equivalent of a weeks shop on one meal out so we limit it!

How about you OP?

EvaHarknessRose · 09/11/2018 11:30

I try to get takeaway no more than once a month, though might eg get fish and chips if on holiday as well. We eat out for birthdays or if we haven't for a while. We get coffee out at least once a week which might include cake/pastry or toast.

ScreamingValenta · 09/11/2018 11:31

Takeaways - very rarely - but sadly, I struggle to eat healthily even without takeaways being a problem Sad. I've had (I think) three takeaways this year, all of which were while I was on holiday or visiting family.

Eating out - a bit more often. It probably averages to once a month.

Annajohnsdottir · 09/11/2018 11:31

*Sorry my post should have said "How about you OP? How often do you eat out as well as your weekly takeaway?" but I hit send too soon Blush

WipsGlitter · 09/11/2018 11:32

Takeaway every Friday! I refuse to cook on a Friday!

Eat out couple of times a month.

Happycow · 09/11/2018 11:34

Takeaway probably once every 3 weeks (if DP didn't work late shifts sometimes it might be more).
Dinner out is rare now we have DS - maybe once a year but that's only due to babysitting issues.

We do have lunch out whenever we are out for the day though rather than a packed lunch. So spend wise is probably the same on balance.

Xmasbaby11 · 09/11/2018 11:34

Eating out once a week but that includes cafe lunches.

Takeaway about once every 2 months.

SneakyGremlins · 09/11/2018 11:34

Once a month, occasionally once a fortnight but usually can't afford it.

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/11/2018 11:35

We never have takeaways but I have breakfast out 6 days a week.

Sexnotgender · 09/11/2018 11:36

Eat out about once a month. Takeaway about once every 2 months, usually when we’ve got something on it’s never a planned let’s do takeaway for dinner thing.

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2018 11:36

Not often for take away to be honest, but eat out about once a week

Birdsgottafly · 09/11/2018 11:38

It used to be once or twice a week.

Now, because I'm concentrating on my health and saving money, I've cut them out completely.

It depends on the nature of the take-away, though.

My DD goes to a Turkish restaurant and gets mixed meat and shares a flat bread with her Partner. Together we would get ok Indian food.

I used to get Chipp/Donimoes etc.

greendale17 · 09/11/2018 11:39

Takeaways- twice a year
Eating out- every month

MissSueFlay · 09/11/2018 11:40

Takeaway only once a month as we do our own Fakeaways (Chinese, Indian, Thai etc.) most Fridays.
We eat out at least a couple of times a month, and have a few coffee & cake stops thrown in as well.

Crimson72 · 09/11/2018 11:41

I eat out about three times a week and have a takeaway once every couple of weeks. I live in London and am surrounded by good restaurants, so it's hard to avoid the temptation! The cost really adds up though, so it is something I'm hoping to cut back on in the new year.

kitkat6 · 09/11/2018 11:41

We eat out or have a take away most weeks for social reasons. For business we eat lunch out once or twice a week, which is normally fairly healthy.

That said I am working from home today and really fancy a chippy lunch which I am trying to resist

Birdsgottafly · 09/11/2018 11:42

Eating out is a treat, so it's about every three months.

I will be having something from the Christmas Markets, food and/or cocktails.

TokyoSushi · 09/11/2018 11:42

About 2/3 times per month

HilaryBriss · 09/11/2018 11:45

Eat out every Saturday, takeaways used to be once a week but have been cut down a bit now so probably once every 3 weeks.

TimeToRevolutionize · 09/11/2018 11:45

Once a week but we are reducing it to once a month now due to going back on Slimming World.

Tatgalore · 09/11/2018 11:46

Eating out, probably 4-6 times a year.

We usually only eat out during school holidays, if we're all off together or on birthdays.

I must admit I absolutely love takeaways, but if I spend £20 on a dominoes/curry each week, I keep thinking that's over 1k a year.

Rarely, every other month or a few times a year. We'll get eg an oven pizza from the supermarket more often though, a couple of times a month. I'd say we eat out as a couple or family on average once a month, but it tends to be child friendly brunches or lunches eg wagamamas, Las Iguanas, or a coffee shop. I meet friends for dinner more often, but again it's usually quick mid-week meals eg pubs or chains. It's been a while since I ate at a fancy restaurant!
