Honestly?

I like to have a takeaway once a week but want to cut this back to save money/lose weight.

We have something once a week- that may be a meal out, a take away for just the adults or one for everyone

We're not drinkers or smokers though so see this as our naughty treat!

Givemeyourbunsandyourbiscuits · 09/11/2018 13:17

Takeaway once a month maybe. Eat out probably the same. Ate out more often before we had kids.

Onestep2 · 09/11/2018 13:19

I would honestly say it depends on wither i am "dieting" or not hahaha

on the run up to my wedding we never had a takeaway or ate out in AGGGGGGGGESSS and i cooked everything healthy from scratch

but now av no stress of fitting my arse into a wedding dress we generally tend get a takeaway once a week or a fortnight, usually on a sunday.

However.... if i had a big night out on a friday and then was hungover we could get takeaway two nights in a row.

Again with eating out really depends what our plans are every weekend. sometimes il make a good home cooked dinner and have a cozy night, others wel have a date night and go out for food.

riotlady · 09/11/2018 13:21

We get takeaway once or twice a month, eat out every couple of months (when my mum babysits)

Onestep2 · 09/11/2018 13:25

Ive not included things like grabbing a subway or McDs, otherwise would probably be 2 or 3 times a week as always get SD a mcdonalds on a friday even if me and DH dont get something and i ALWAYS get a subway for lunch on a saturday on my way home from work

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 09/11/2018 13:27

DP and I eat 90% of our meals out every weekend and about once in the week.

We don't go anywhere posh, just the pub or local cafe. We are into hiking and cycling so quite often spend all of the daylight hours out doing sport, eating en route, and then are really tired when we get home so get a takeaway or go to the pub with friends and stay until late so just eat there.

it sounds rather extravagant i guess but we don't have kids and have simple tastes so it doesn't really cost that much.

OhTheRoses · 09/11/2018 13:56

Takeaways never. Why would you spend £25 on pizza when you can spend less than £10 on better pizza and sides in Sainsburys. Likewise £30 on curry or chinese when you can buy a banquet box thingy and a cpl of extras to stretch to 4 for less than £15.

Eat out twice a month.

EK36 · 09/11/2018 14:00

5 take aways per year, only for immediate family's birthday. Eat out twice a year if that.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 09/11/2018 14:04

Once a week takeaway,Once a month eat out

HilaryBriss · 09/11/2018 16:36

I don't really want to spend £20 and wait 30 minutes to get food delivered when I could have a sandwich/eggs on toast instead

Egg on toast doesn't really cut it though when what you really want is chicken jalfrezi, pilau rice and garlic naan bread Wink

Nothisispatrick · 09/11/2018 16:39

Those meal boxes in sainsburys are gross and not the same at all! The naan bread in particular is disappointing.

selepele · 09/11/2018 16:42

about once every two weeks

CryHavoc · 09/11/2018 16:50

This thread has pushed me into declaring tonight takeaway night. We eat out a couple of times a month, and have a takeaway most weeks.

Parker231 · 09/11/2018 16:53

We never have a takeaway but eat out on average two evenings a week and always Sunday brunch.

Bootanicbanshee · 09/11/2018 16:53

Once every 3-6 months. Can't imagine eating them on a weekly basis.

HRTpatch · 09/11/2018 16:55

Never get a takeaway but eat out 3 times a week

Ohyesiam · 09/11/2018 16:57

Fish and chips after a day at the beach a few times on the summer. Maybe 4 or 5?

tiggerkid · 09/11/2018 17:00

I'd need some clarification as to what you consider a takeaway, OP. Do you consider any microwave / simply-stick-in-the-oven meal to be an equivalent of a takeaway? Or is it just the stuff you actually buy from a takeaway, i.e. the food you don't need to do anything to at all?

Onestep2 · 09/11/2018 18:19

The box Buffet meals are okay but they are not a patch on a takeaway from the Indian or the Chinese thou!

We don't drink often and don't smoke so have the extra cash so why the hell not

Seriousquestion09 · 09/11/2018 18:25

I eat out once a week and have no weight problems.

Yes cut down to save money but it depends what you eat if for weight loss- for example if I’m in Nando’s I’ll opt for butterfly chicken and supegrain side with the ratatouille

JaceLancs · 09/11/2018 18:31

Takeaway never
Eat out apart from on holiday maybe once a month
Drink coffee out - nearly every day

gingercat02 · 09/11/2018 18:33

Takeaway or similar every Friday. Eat out once every 4-6 weeks at a guess

ShinyMe · 09/11/2018 18:34

I very rarely get takeaways - maybe once or twice a year, if that.

I eat out more often, because I go to the theatre a lot. I'd say we eat out maybe half the times we go to the theatre - so perhaps every couple of months. That could be anything from a quick McDonalds (rarer) or a mid range restaurant (most of the time) or sometimes a posh restaurant (less than once a year).

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 09/11/2018 18:35

As a family we eat out a couple of times a month on a Friday night when no-one's got anything on. Although as we now have a teen, a pre-teen and two 6 year olds with healthy appetites, its getting a bit expensive so I think we should do it less, but it is nice.

As a couple probably once a month.

With friends, each of us a couple of times a month.

I'd rather go out than have takeaway.

Tinawithtwoboys · 09/11/2018 18:47

Every week at least once a week, then lunch out with the fam atleast once a week, aswell all the snacks/convience foods I pick up 🤷‍♀️
