Honestly?

I like to have a takeaway once a week but want to cut this back to save money/lose weight.

We used to eat takeaways about 2/3 times per week but since I’ve gone up to a size 12 I’ve just started SW to get back down to a size 10. So currently not eating takeaways! Probably will go back to once per week when I’m back to maintaining my weight.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 09/11/2018 12:39

Takeaway once a week, although maybe twice if it's been a hard week
Eat out maybe once every couple of months or so.

halfwitpicker · 09/11/2018 12:40

Usually grab lunch form a deli in town once a week.

Me and DH will have takeaway on average 1 per month. Live abroad and there aren't that many tempting options tbh.

LasMeninas · 09/11/2018 12:41

Tatgalore I am in Spain, no takeaways, no chinese, no curries, no ready meals no nothing! Just endless fruit and veg shops and butchers.

But... very rural Spain, presumably? Because Spain definitely has takeaways! Chinese, Indian, pizza, sushi, etc. It even has just-eat.com.

LasMeninas · 09/11/2018 12:42

Takeaway once every couple of weeks on a saturday night after the little one in bed. Usually pizza. Love it.

Am generally healthy and in good shape so not worried about that.

MyfanwyMontez · 09/11/2018 12:42

Hardly ever- can’t justify the cost. Takeaway on birthday but never eat out.I would love to but I would want wine as well as food and could buy a bottle from the supermarket for the price of a glass from a restaurant.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/11/2018 12:43

Takeaway delivered every Saturday (fish and chips and mushy peas)

Eat out most weekends too

Also had a Chinese or Thai takeaway most Sundays

AviatorShades · 09/11/2018 12:44

Eat at a chinese family run place for lunch once a week. The owner buys (gives) me a free cup of tea. He's either got a tic or actually winks at me too. Love the food and I'm getting a bit fond of him tooWink
Never order food in, mainly because I'm so off the beaten track I'm hard to find.

BroccoliStalk · 09/11/2018 12:48

Never. DS has a serious nut allergy and we wouldn't take the risk. We also don't eat processed food so prefer what we cook ourselves.

Polarbearflavour · 09/11/2018 12:49

Once a week - brunch or dinner out and occasionally a takeaway from an Indian restaurant, Dominos or posh burger place!

Luki · 09/11/2018 12:53

Haven't had an Indian/Chinese takeaway for 5+ years.
Dominoes/Pizza Hut used to be every couple of months but don't order that at all now. F&C I'd say maybe 3-4 times a year.

We eat out often though. 3 times a month. (Usually go to the pub on a Friday/Saturday for a "few afternoon drinks" then end up staying for tea Grin )

Loonoon · 09/11/2018 12:57

Probably more than we eat in. DH is out of the house from 8.00am-9pm so all his week day meals are out of the house. Proper restaurant meals if he is with clients, M&S or Pret sandwiches if he’s on his own. I am also out a lot so sandwiches/burgers for most day time meals. We night also eat out in local restaurants or get a takeaway 2 or even 3 nights a week either just us or with friends.

We are empty nesters now with disposable income -When DC were at home I was strict about nutrition and cooking from scratch and takeaways/meals out were rare treats but I generally cba now it's just me at home most evenings. I will have a healthy breakfast but after that it’s whatever’s handiest if I’m out of the house or some sort of cheese or egg based quick meal if I’m at home.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 09/11/2018 12:59

We have an Indian takeaway and share a bottle of red every Saturday night normally, except every 6-8 weeks when we go out on a Saturday night for a meal instead. We also have lunch out occasionally instead of a takeaway/dinner if we're out at the right time on a Saturday but if we do that then that becomes out main meal and we have something small later in the day instead of a meal at night.

Our takeaway though isn't a massive 1,000,000 calorie food fest though.

We each have a side or starter each and share a rice and have a chapati each and then the next day we have a bowl of Dahl and a roti for lunch. I'm not saying it's better than homecooked but it's way better than a massive korma/tikka masala etc and a whole rice and nann.

It's a luxury that lots couldn't afford and I feel lucky we can.
It's money that could be spent on other things but we don't really spend on things others (generally if they can afford to) do. We don't really holiday apart from the occasional night away for a gig, neither of us own a car, we don't particularly drink regularly (apart from sharing the bottle of red) neither of us spend wildly on expensive clothes/bags/jewellery etc

MotherWol · 09/11/2018 13:00

Takeaways almost never - I don't really like them. To answer the PP who asked how someone can dislike all takeaways, it's not the food that I dislike as much as the wait - I don't really want to spend £20 and wait 30 minutes to get food delivered when I could have a sandwich/eggs on toast instead. If I'm collecting the food I'll probably have gone past a shop where I could buy something easy to eat for less than a takeaway would cost.

On the other hand, I love eating out, and do that maybe once a week. At the weekends we like to go out for lunch as a family to a nice cafe or a pub. Don't go out for dinner very often though.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 09/11/2018 13:04

This is really bad and makes us sound massively unhealthy... but we eat out or have takeaway probably 4 times a week or more. Its just so busy and crazy sometimes and I get home and there’s nothing to cook and I realise I forgot to do an online shop and by then popping to Sainsbury’s sounds exhausting.. Blush

I used to be really organised..!

SerenDippitty · 09/11/2018 13:04

Curry once or twice a month from a proper restaurant. We have one starter, main and rice portion between us so hardly a blowout!

Junkmail · 09/11/2018 13:05

At the start of the year takeaway pizza was about once a week. But now I limit it to once a month/6 weeks roughly because I wanted to lose weight (and did). We eat out now and again, did with family last weekend and the last time before that was a few weeks ago with my husband. I’m not that fussed about food (although I do love my pizza) so if we’re going on a date I prefer to “do” something rather than just eat.

stevie69 · 09/11/2018 13:06

I eat out twice a week, sometimes more often. I never do takeaway.

RoseMartha · 09/11/2018 13:06

Takeaway maybe once a year. Eat out as in dinner less than once a year. Was more often before I split with h.
Have coffee out abt once a week.

daisypond · 09/11/2018 13:07

Never have takeaways. Eat out only on special occasions.

Nothisispatrick · 09/11/2018 13:09

Pretty much either a take away or eat out every weekend. Even having baby DD hasn’t stopped us as we just go out for lunch now rather than dinner Smile

Takeaway can be a pain as our flat can be really difficult for people to find and it always involves several phone calls and one of us going outside to find them.

Ninoo25 · 09/11/2018 13:10

About 1-2 times a month, sometimes not for months at a time

Ginger1982 · 09/11/2018 13:11

Takeaway once a week or once a fortnight if we're being good! Eating out alone together...hardly ever! Four or five times a year. Eating out separately with friends maybe every 6 weeks for me.

RedPandaMama · 09/11/2018 13:13

We have one probably every fortnight, but also the occasional McDonald's or KFC I grab on the way home. We're bad for it and it's so much money. £20ish a time for 2 of us so it used to be £80 a month! We're trying to do it much less, DPs idea was to fill the freezer up with pizzas, chips, deluxe pies from Lidl that kind of thing. That way if I'm having a stressful day and can't be bothered cooking when I'm home I can just chuck something from there in the oven.
Also I keep trying to make my own healthy junk food - the other night I made homemade sweet potato fries with cheese, homemade guacamole, jalapenos, tomatoes and some chilli oil. So freaking nice!

Ninoo25 · 09/11/2018 13:13

And if you count a Subway at lunch time, we do that about twice a month too- on a Saturday as a family while we’re out and about going to all their clubs
