To ask how often you have a takeaway/eat out?

Honestly?

I like to have a takeaway once a week but want to cut this back to save money/lose weight.

We sometimes have a chippy tea or a (nice) kebab on a Friday, probably averages out as once a month or so.

Eat brunch/lunch out once most weekends at various cafes, nothing very expensive.

Actual meals out a bit less and never anywhere very pricey (probably once a month ish), if it's an anniversary or birthday or something we splash out a bit but that's only 2-3 times a year.

There's only me and DP though so it doesn't come to loads.

easyandy101 · 09/11/2018 12:18

Eat out about 3-5 times a week

I'm rarely at home at an acceptable time (for me) to eat

PUGaLUGS · 09/11/2018 12:19

Don’t have many takeaways probs because we live in a village and there aren’t that many nearby.

We do eat out quite a bit though, would say on average 3 times a month.

shearwater · 09/11/2018 12:19

How can someone hate all take-aways? It's like saying you dislike food. There are so many to choose from, and it's not all greasy or unhealthy food by any means. It's simply food cooked for you that you take home or have delivered.

letsdolunch321 · 09/11/2018 12:21

Once a week have takeaway/out for dinner every two weeks.

We both work full time, dp believes it is our treat.

fleshmarketclose · 09/11/2018 12:22

We rarely have takeaways probably every two to three months mostly because it seems easier to cook than going to the palaver of getting one if I'm honest (the nicest ones here don't deliver in our area) I eat out probably once a fortnight on average though.

Monday55 · 09/11/2018 12:23

On average I have take away once a week. But hope to cut down to once a month and invest the money in buying quality premium foods instead like salmon.

Eifla · 09/11/2018 12:23

I have takeaway fast food about once week generally - KFC, fish & chips or McDonalds.

“Proper” delivery takeaway like a Dominoes or Chinese, maybe once every couple of months. Not normally worth ordering for one person so generally only do that if I have friend/family round, or I have got a voucher code and then I don’t feel so guilty Grin

WendyCope · 09/11/2018 12:23

Never! Only because they are not available where I live. My DD (10) doesn't even know what takeaway means.

Sob. Everything from scratch, bloody everything.

Tatgalore · 09/11/2018 12:25

Are you quite rural wendycope.

Once a week on average for takeaways

Haven't eaten out in ages

HildaZelda · 09/11/2018 12:28

DH and I have a takeaway once a week. Usually on a Friday or Saturday night. Generally Chinese. A main course between us, rice and a portion of chips. Loads in it for two.

We eat out maybe once a month.

SinkGirl · 09/11/2018 12:29

Used to eat out often but now we have twins we’ve only been out for dinner twice in two years, with the occasional meal where we’ve taken the twins.

We usually have a takeaway once a week as we are so bloody knackered.

Annajohnsdottir · 09/11/2018 12:29

OP if you don't want to cook on a Friday night could you make a meal on Thursday night that's big enough to do left over meals for the next day? Reheat them in the microwave and have a lazy meal that way? I appreciate that may not be possible if you have a large family or that you may still consider that cooking and therefore not be up for it Smile

VioletCharlotte · 09/11/2018 12:29

Takeaways - for myself, hardly ever as I don't like them. I buy McDonald or pizza for the teens a couple of times a month though.

Eating out - again, not very often. I'm vegetarian and struggle to find things I like on the menu.

I have a shocking Costa habit though

Eliza9917 · 09/11/2018 12:29

If I wasn't on a diet and left to my own devices i.e. without DP's input, I'd have takeaway every Fri & Sat and possibly go out for a roast/harvester/nando's etc on Sundays and have a midweek fast food dinner when I fancied.

As it is, we now rarely have takeaway but are inclined to end up getting drive-thru when travelling backwards & forwards to London. Which can be often.

Lazypuppy · 09/11/2018 12:29

At least once a week of either. Sometimes eat out once and a takeaway

WhoisyourDaddyandwhatdoeshedo · 09/11/2018 12:30

takeaway - 2 Fridays a month.
eat out 2x sundays a month (normally afternoon tea)

MaryDollNesbitt · 09/11/2018 12:33

Very rarely for takeaways. I might ask DD if she fancies a pay day treat once every 3-4 months or so, and we'll get proper Scottish fish and chips or a Chinese. If we fancy something like pizza or burgers on a Friday night, I can buy the bits in Lidl and cook quickly (and with minimal fuss) at home for a fraction of the price. I personally like cooking from scratch as much as I possibly can, so that I can see and control exactly what is going into our meals. I don't trust what is being put in a lot of food these days or the quality of the products being used.

Eating out at a restaurant is reserved more for occasions - Christmas Eve lunch, birthdays, celebrating an achievement, etc. Though I do like to take my mum out for afternoon tea once every couple of months 'cause she's fucking awesome and I want to spoil her a bit! Grin

WendyCope · 09/11/2018 12:33

Tatgalore I am in Spain, no takeaways, no chinese, no curries, no ready meals no nothing! Just endless fruit and veg shops and butchers. I am thinking of flying home for fish and chips, no joke.

All I do is cook. honestly. I have actually gone off food as a result.

But, having said that, I reckon it's healthier and cheaper.

QueSera · 09/11/2018 12:35

When we were in super-saving and/or super-skint phases, we never ate out or had a takeaway. The sums are too stark - £x on a takeaway / bought lunch / meal out / coffees etc, multiply by how many times a week, multiply for the year = £way too much when we were saving/skint.
It was not easy - making all our own meals, lunches for work, turning down meals out with friends if we just didn't have the money etc.

But having done our massive savings drive, we are in a slightly more relaxed phase now, and I would say we eat out or get a takeaway maybe once a week. I try not to think of the money! But health-wise, we always try to make it not-too-unhealthy (sushi, falafel etc). Tricky to balance saving/spending money with the feeling of wanting to enjoy life and not be too restricted - I guess on that front, we only eat out/takeaway when we REALLY want to and really appreciate and enjoy it, not as part of an unappreciated habit.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 09/11/2018 12:36

We probably get a deliveroo once a week. Luckily we like sushi so I feel it's not too bad (although not on the finances!).

ginghamstarfish · 09/11/2018 12:37

Takeaway - never, eat out - maybe once or twice a year. Prefer my own cooking!
