To ask how I survive a night with a baby and NO NAPPIES?!!!

Carmen99 · 07/11/2018 18:28

Partner dropped baby off an hour ago...told me he had bought nappies. Ive been through bags...definitely no nappies...He's working tonight and will be miles away now. I have no one I can ask for help- neighbours elderly on one side, suffered very recent bereavement on the other side. Unbelievably my car is in garage and there are no shops within easy driving distance.
Does anyone have any ideas at all about what I can possibly do to get through night? Only use one nappy in night...usually change at 7pm and again at 6am. I've got swim nappies but sure they wouldn't work.
Got no other nappies in house.
Help!

A thin towel made like an old terry nappy. Or flannel folded and put in swim nappy?

Henrysmycat · 07/11/2018 18:36

Where are you? Could the MN hive help? Right now, I’m in Windlesham area of Surrey.

peachypetite · 07/11/2018 18:37

Can't you get a taxi to a supermarket?

VodkaRevelation · 07/11/2018 18:37

We’ve used swim nappies in emergencies before and they’ve worked fine.

Grimbles · 07/11/2018 18:38

Muslin can be used as a makeshift nappy - youtube has folding tutorials.

Or you can use it as a pad inside a swim nappy.

Merryoldgoat · 07/11/2018 18:38

Taxi or Prime Now.

bellinisurge · 07/11/2018 18:38

Fold up a T shirt. Plenty of YouTube videos. I know you weren't expecting it so it was a bit of a shock.
Hope you get sorted out.
I think you need a couple in reserve for Just this sort of thing but I know that's not especially helpful at the moment.

Lalalalalalaland · 07/11/2018 18:39

Small towel and a safety pin. Search nappy folds on YouTube for how to fold it. Put swim nappy over to hold in place

Blazeisamonster · 07/11/2018 18:39

Search all your bags you use I always find one when changing a bags or under the couch there is usually one stuffed in.... if not then I would defo just use a maternity pad inside a swim nappy then a towel on the bed.

Chutneyorchids · 07/11/2018 18:40

swim nappies will work and if not just change the bedding. Sanitary pads?

TeachesOfPeaches · 07/11/2018 18:41

Amazon prime now, you can even get one hour delivery if you pay extra

VodkaRevelation · 07/11/2018 18:41

If you google swim nappies or look on the packet you’ll see they do have an absorbent core, it’s just different to normal nappies and designed not to swell up like a normal
nappy does.

Cachailleacha · 07/11/2018 18:42

Give them a bath and hope they pee before bed. How is the nappy they are wearing now? Sanitary pad in swim nappy?

confuddeledconfuddel · 07/11/2018 18:43

My MIL accidentally put a swim nappy on dd one night. It did some of the job but obviously did leak as not as absorbent. I would try swim nappy with extra padding in it.. Like sanitary towel or muslins. You may also need to change it through the night. I would just place extra waterproof layer on bed or extra towels so they can just be removed and washed.

TurkeyBear · 07/11/2018 18:44

I echo a taxi. Or the bus. Stick baby in the buggy and off you pop.

Cachailleacha · 07/11/2018 18:44

Hold the toddler over the toilet or sit them on a potty when they wake up in the morning.

QuestionableMouse · 07/11/2018 18:44

You folks suggesting Amazon prime now do realise it only covers a small bit of the country, right?

WingingWonder · 07/11/2018 18:47

I’d put a face book post out shouting for help and also in local group, any size nappy would be ok!
Would you have one in old handbag/shopping bag etc per chance though?

norfolkandchanceyou · 07/11/2018 18:48

Swim nappy with a stick on sanitary towel. Happy to bring you some. I'm in very north of Surrey bordering south London but as that's very urbanised I'm guessing you're more in the sticks.

BackInRed · 07/11/2018 18:48

@Carmen99

I PM'd you an idea.

redsummershoes · 07/11/2018 18:48

folded up towel or muslin under swim nappy.

bin bag under sheet so the matress doesn't soak.

Quartz2208 · 07/11/2018 18:48

swim nappy would certainly cover a poo and some wee so if needed use that with a towel underneath

Petalflowers · 07/11/2018 18:49

Look in rucksacks, bags, cases etc you use for the odd daytrip. Hopefully there is one lurking there.

HermioneWeasley · 07/11/2018 18:50

Partner pick some up on his way home?

CatchIt · 07/11/2018 18:50

I'm 99% sure Amazon fresh deliver within an hour or so. I used it once as I had a poorly baby and desperately needed a thermometer. I think you need to spend a minimum amount but you could probably easily do that with nappies and gin.
