To ask how I survive a night with a baby and NO NAPPIES?!!!

Partner dropped baby off an hour ago...told me he had bought nappies. Ive been through bags...definitely no nappies...He's working tonight and will be miles away now. I have no one I can ask for help- neighbours elderly on one side, suffered very recent bereavement on the other side. Unbelievably my car is in garage and there are no shops within easy driving distance.
Does anyone have any ideas at all about what I can possibly do to get through night? Only use one nappy in night...usually change at 7pm and again at 6am. I've got swim nappies but sure they wouldn't work.
Got no other nappies in house.
Help!

@ candycreeper: You may be fortunate with shops and public transport where you live most of us don't have that.
At the risk of outing myself: Here we have one bus a day in to the village and one back. Local shops shut at 5.00pm at the latest (village store shuts at 4.30 most days, 2.30 Saturday and doesn't open on a Thursday at all .) 16 miles down unlit country roads to the supermarket or garage which open until an amazing 7.00pm. Local taxi needs pre booking several days in advance, but can get one from the nearest big town, but it costs around £50 for a non-prebooked round trip to the garage.
You have to rely on forward planning and simple things like forgetting the nappies can become a major difficulty.
well done to the helpful mumsnetters. I know how much it helps to have a hive mind remind you that you can be creative when you forget everything you know due to panic.
Glad you have a solution for tonight OP.

Might be worth buying a reusable or two to have in the house for emergencies

Jamiefraserskilt · 07/11/2018 20:41

What did our parents do before disposables?
Fashion one old style from a towel/microfibre cloth. Line with muslin if you have it.. and use swim nappy instead of plastic pants.
Or
Stick a sanitary towel into the swim pants.

PMSwithacockinmydress · 07/11/2018 20:45

Hold on, there's part of the UK Amazon don't deliver to?

MixedMaritalArts · 07/11/2018 20:48

You don’t need to keep a huge emergency stock, only a few of the eco ‘ permanent’ cloth type in the appropriate size, just to see you through until you can get out or make other arrangements.

The80sweregreat · 07/11/2018 20:50

Good idea about asking the local cab firm.
Or an old towel?
Let us know what happens!

Kittykat93 · 07/11/2018 20:51

I would definitely have gone on Facebook and asked - I'm sure someone would have brought some over for you.

Mominatrix · 07/11/2018 20:54

Seriously? Uber to the closest shop selling nappies and uber it back.

Is anybody really this disorganised?!?

TuckMyWin · 07/11/2018 20:55

Seriously? Do you really think that everyone has access to Uber or similar, and can afford it?

londonrach · 07/11/2018 20:58

Any spare nappies in a baby change bag perhaps? X

rainbowquack · 07/11/2018 21:00

Ring a taxi company? Neighbors?

JassyRadlett · 07/11/2018 21:01

Seriously? How insular are you?

anniehm · 07/11/2018 21:02

Is there a concierge service in your city? We have a local version of Deliveroo that will pick up whatever you need for £3 (legal things of course!) they can't be unique.

londonrach · 07/11/2018 21:02

Love mn help offers.

UpstartCrow · 07/11/2018 21:02

I sometimes wonder if people think everyone lives in a town/city centre? Uber doesn’t operate anywhere near here. If I did manage to get a taxi (unlikely, unless booked hours in advance), it would be approx £30 round trip to the nearest open shop. Shops close at around 5pm here, except on Wednesdays which are half days.

PMSwithacockinmydress · 07/11/2018 21:03

READ THE FUCKING THREAD.

And @Mominatrix read a fucking book or something - expand your horizons.

Halloweenallyearround · 07/11/2018 21:03

My lo (8 months) stayed at his gp house the other night, I forgot to add enough nappies,
So he came back in the morning with a pillow case tucked in his vest.
It was hilarious
But worked quite well for wee

meepmoop · 07/11/2018 21:03

@Mominatrix there is no Uber where I live, I'm not even sure it exists in my County.
We used to live out in the sticks and it only had one bus a day. The local taxi firms were not local at all

SoyDora · 07/11/2018 21:03

Oh and my nearest bus stop is a 2 mile walk!
