AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

RiverTam waste of money, bad for the environment. Why would you?

THIS!

YANBU.

Rudgie47 · 07/11/2018 15:00

Night time or for more protection.

tiggerkid · 07/11/2018 15:00

Why do so many people assume that those, who wear pantyliners, don't change their underwear daily??????

weebarra · 07/11/2018 15:00

I wear Tena panty liners as I have incontinence issues.

GummyGoddess · 07/11/2018 15:01

Why wouldn't you just change your pants if needed, or use washable liners? Throwing liners away daily is a ridiculous amount of waste.

MrTrebus · 07/11/2018 15:01

@Rudgie47 ok but just to clarify any type of incontinence pad is not the same as a panty liner. at all. So to suggest someone may have incontinence and that's why they might be wearing a pantyliner is insulting.

Sammysees · 07/11/2018 15:01

Oh god .... DONT google sootikins!

Lots of judgey comments here, presumably from people who don't suffer from excess discharge. I do and have since I was a teen. There's nothing wrong down there, I'm just more 'moist' than others [shudder]. Mine aren't to protect my pants (which are of course changed daily!), they're to protect my trousers, which - for environmental and cost reasons - I don't want to have to wash after one wear. I also wear liners that aren't plasticky or scented.

Oh and unless it's really bad - ovulation mucus yaaaaay - I only wear one a day.

Pant and liner free at night though!

thereallochnessmonster · 07/11/2018 15:02

But that's terrible for the environment!! Why on earth would you? There's no need. Plus, they make me itch terribly. They're so perfumed. Yuk. Much better to wear cotton pants and shower every day.

Megan2018 · 07/11/2018 15:03

@GummyGoddess

I don’t really want to carry several pairs of clean and worn knickers in my handbag at work!

Sammysees · 07/11/2018 15:03

I guess I am very naive/ignorant about these things. I thought panty liners were for periods or incontinence. I genuinely had no idea.

Get her some washable ones for Christmas, think of how many she has sent to lanfill Shock

I don’t wear them unless at the end of my period. I don’t always wear knickers either.

thereallochnessmonster · 07/11/2018 15:04

But Arthur, does your discharge stop at night? Hmm Confused

If you can go eight hours at night without pants/liner, then why not in the day?

[I can't believe I'm asking this.]

Celebelly · 07/11/2018 15:04

No, although I have used them a few times since I've been pregnant as my discharge level has been off the charts. But generally no, I don't like the way they feel against my skin and they make me feel more icky than just wearing pants alone for some reason. Also they are deeply unsexy if you're getting intimate and there's a panty-liner stuck to your knicks! Grin

drspouse · 07/11/2018 15:05

I guess next we'll have to wear liners to protect our panty liners?

May I suggest that if you need them to protect your trousers you could wear more absorbent pants?

Kewqueue · 07/11/2018 15:05

Much better to wear cotton pants and shower every day.

Why on earth do you think people wearing pantyliners DON'T do this??

MrMeSeeks · 07/11/2018 15:06

I do everyday, the scented ones, no they dont give me thrush, yes i do wash my nickers everyday

Kewqueue · 07/11/2018 15:06

If you can go eight hours at night without pants/liner, then why not in the day?

Gravity. No, I'm not joking.

Sammysees · 07/11/2018 15:06

@celebelly Grin not sexy is it?

OP posts:
Bugjune · 07/11/2018 15:06

I don't always wear knickers never mind panty liners.

MrMeSeeks · 07/11/2018 15:07

Apprently not washing
Confused

SeasonOfTheCrone · 07/11/2018 15:09

YANBU Panty liners? What's the point of them? Aren't they an invention to make women feel unclean? Why wear that bleached material next to your skin every day? Ewwwww! Get some air to your vulva, christ on a friggin bike!

Lovemusic33 · 07/11/2018 15:09

Bugjune glad I’m not the only one 🤣 I don’t wear underwear at home, I wear it for work but as soon as I get home I go without (unless on my period). I can see why some people feel they need to wear them but if you are one of those people please do look a washable one.

I struggle with wearing pads for 5 days a month and they often give me thrush.
