AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

RiverTam - how would I know? I just find the tone of these comments really mean. As it has been pointed out, it's not an alternative to washing - some people need extra protection and that doesn't make them freaks or in need of a doctor. Some of the comments on here are really anti-women.

strawberrisc · 07/11/2018 14:53

I wear them every day. I genuinely don't care whether or not anyone else does.

Megan2018 · 07/11/2018 14:53

I used to! Am always very moist (hate that word). Nothing medically wrong, just the way I am. But have ditched them for about half the month now and just change knickers more often instead. Not sure if it is environmentally better to wash 2-3 times more pants vs the landfill?

Wearing wet crotch knickers though is not pleasant!

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 07/11/2018 14:54

They are very useful to wear with trousers and leggings if you find the seam goes where you don't want it. A bit of extra padding for comfort really. Although I don't like the plastic lining bit so bought some fabric ones which are a bit thick and unwieldy.

HildaZelda · 07/11/2018 14:54

I definitely don't but MIL does because "You can get two days out of a pair of knickers" Confused

I do not understand y u would! If my outfit shows a VPL the knickers are goin too!

MrTrebus · 07/11/2018 14:55

Ffs everyone saying think of the landfill needs to get a grip. Most ridiculous counter argument. You know your mobile phone/computer/tablet usage to post on here does a lot more damage to the environment than a few extra bits of panty liners in the rubbish.

StaySafe · 07/11/2018 14:56

if you have smelly bits you need a trip to the doctor, not Tesco. I can imagine nothing worse than pantyliners, the very word is repulsive. For those of us who exercise a lot or change in and out of work and leisure wear there is no reason not to change your knickers 3 times a day if you want to, there is no law it is only once!

Sallystyle · 07/11/2018 14:56

If you are wearing one all day long then surely that smells just like your knickers would? If not worse?

PoesyCherish · 07/11/2018 14:56

Why are people being so judgey? We all have different levels of moistness and different hormone levels etc. Some of us really do need to wear liners as well as washing and changing knickers once a day. It's really not practical to change your knickers 3 x a day especially in work.

On a slightly different topic, I also personally don't get how people go without underwear at night. I'd have damp legs or pjs if I did that.

strawberrisc · 07/11/2018 14:56

If you’ve got ‘musty discharge’, no way is that normal and you need to consult a GP.

Rubbish.

MrTrebus · 07/11/2018 14:57

@WizardofToss if you have discharge going straight onto pants all day you do smell musty at the end of the day. You just do. Its not a medical issue.

Some people change their panty liner and their pants. Like with periods, there is a huge range of normal, and its not all about you.

Haffiana · 07/11/2018 14:57

I wonder what women did before they were invented? Did they feel 'unfresh'?

Tyke2 · 07/11/2018 14:57

I have never - ever heard of this> and none of my friends have either???

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 07/11/2018 14:58

I only wear them as I had a few incidents of slight leakage when running at work. I buy reusable ones. They are great for that, I’m not worrying when the alarm goes and I need to run.

If I didn’t have a slight incontinence problem, I would never wear them, they aren’t the most comfortable of items.

YellowOcelot · 07/11/2018 14:58

It depends on whether I'm likely to wash my work trousers in the next couple of days or not.

Rudgie47 · 07/11/2018 14:58

@MrTrebus, you can get a wide variety of different pads for incontinence not just Tena lady. I know because I buy them for my Mum, some are panty pads and others are thicker for night time.

UpstartCrow · 07/11/2018 14:58

Haffiana Google 'sootykin' if you dare...

Ameliarose16 · 07/11/2018 14:58

My friend does this. I don't

Megan2018 · 07/11/2018 14:59

Those without excess discharge can count themselves lucky! I will get through 2-3 pairs of knickers a day without liners for at least half my cycle.
I get changed after work for a sport activity and need clean pants for that and again for bed. Only ever wear cotton ines every day too.
On the plus side it makes for good sex as am almost never dry....so every cloud!

Sammysees · 07/11/2018 14:59

@tyke2 ... I’m glad I’m not the only one!
