AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

I do if I have a cough / cold, I'd be constantly changing my pants and trousers without (thanks kids) or at the end of my period if I'm lucky enough to have that brown gooey stuff (thanks Mother Nature), sometimes if I'm planning on a long treadmill session. I no longer entertain trampolines due to stress incontinence because I'd need a bucket, not a liner!

I wouldn't 'just because', that's odd IMO

This thread has made me consider washable liners so I shall now pop over to see what reusables I can find!

RiverTam · 07/11/2018 15:10

Kew I'm simply not equating a 15 year old girl with older women who may have started to have incontinence issues.

Birdie6 · 07/11/2018 15:10

Since I had my children I've had a weak bladder, so panty liners are a daily necessity for me. I started on the day after I had a coughing fit at work, and wet not only my pants but my slacks as well. Walking around all day with wet slacks was so awful, I swore I'd never leave the house without a liner again. And I haven't.

Abra1de · 07/11/2018 15:10

Huge environmental issue from all the waste.

Kewqueue · 07/11/2018 15:10

But it's not about incontinence issues - as people have repeatedly said.

Abra1de · 07/11/2018 15:10

Sorry, posted too soon, if you don’t have any issues.

MrsArthurShappey · 07/11/2018 15:11

*If you can go eight hours at night without pants/liner, then why not in the day?

Gravity. No, I'm not joking.*

Indeed. Also, jammy bottoms are looser and there's more air flow so generally less mingy.

They're so perfumed. Yuk.

Siiiiigh. Not all are perfumed. It can be hard to find unperfumed ones though. I do get irritated down there if scented ones are all I can find.

Sammysees · 07/11/2018 15:13

@seasonofthecrone ... I am imagining you free wheeling down a hill on a bike butt naked with your legs akimbo Grin

Apart from the end of period days, I actually feel LESS fresh wearing a liner. They give me a sweaty snatch!

vampirethriller · 07/11/2018 15:15

I don't even wear knickers every day!

Gnomesofthegalaxy · 07/11/2018 15:16

@redexpat Since dc2 I wear them everyday because I smell different and stronger.

I've noticed this since having DC3 a few months ago. No idea why it's happened but I'm not liking it.

brookshelley · 07/11/2018 15:19

DM wears scented pantyliners every day and uses Femfresh. I think she’s afraid of her own vagina! Wasteful and I don’t want deodorant on my bits.

ProfessorMoody · 07/11/2018 15:20

Christ. There are some women here who either don't understand how all women are different, or are just deliberately trying to bring other women down.

Yes, I shower every day. Yes, I change my pants every day. Yes, I still wear a panty-liner because if I don't I get wet trousers. I'm a teacher - those plastic chairs show marks and I can't just change my knickers four times a day while I'm in school.
No it's not the same at night as I'm generally horizontal and nothing comes out, though sometimes my PJ bottoms are so wet it's like I've urinated so at certain times of the month I do have to wear both knickers and a pantyliner to bed.
I don't smell, neither am I "manky". I have a hormonal condition.

My panty-liners are washable. I add nothing to landfill.

But thanks for all the posters implying people like me are dirty, gross or wrecking the planet. Way to raise up women.

dontalltalkatonce · 07/11/2018 15:22

Awful for the environment if you're using disposable ones.

I don’t think anyone’s implied anyone is dirty or gross. I think people are just highlighting the fact that washable panytliners May be a better option for the environment and possibly better for your vagina?
Yes, we are all different.

InfiniteVariety · 07/11/2018 15:28

I have never bought them in my life and I'm 59

cheesefield · 07/11/2018 15:28

Manky minge

Dribbly foof

Drip tray

GrinGrinGrin

StellaWouldYouTakeMeHome · 07/11/2018 15:29

I don’t. Just change pants if needed

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 07/11/2018 15:29

Hmm I wonder if there’d be a market for bamboo knickers (they absorb and hold more liquid than cotton) and maybe with an extra layer of bamboo fabric in the gusset? (Actually slightly serious as I can design clothes)

ProfessorMoody · 07/11/2018 15:30

Lovemusic33 - really? Here are some of the comments so far:

Is she on drugs?

Scared of your vagina

Not normal

I just change my knickers every day

I'm horrified

Panty liners are fucking horrible

Yuck

This is bonkers

I think they smell

The very word is repulsive

Yuk

They are deeply unsexy

Ewwwwww

stopgap · 07/11/2018 15:32

But why? Is this a heavy vaginal discharge issue or a leaking pee issue? I have seriously never heard of this in my life, safe for when you’re on your period or are older and perhaps a bit incontinent.

stopgap · 07/11/2018 15:32

save for

poorbuthappy · 07/11/2018 15:33

I have worn them daily since having the twins. As a PP said, my discharge has changed since the kids, and I feel more comfortable wearing one than not.

bellanotte22 · 07/11/2018 15:33

This thread is really horrible. Women moralising over other women's choices on how they deal with quite personal issues.

I daresay anyone who has excess moisture would love not to have to worry about it. Just change your pants multiple times day and get used to feeling damp and chafed Hmm
