AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

Good link @Lweji

And I'm pleased to see that it mentions that you can reduce the risk by wearing underwear with a cotton crotch and avoiding scented feminine products.

ProfessorMoody · 17/11/2018 10:48

No, it's pretty inane to suggest that something many of us do due to health conditions is unhealthy.

bellinisurge · 17/11/2018 12:23

Rather than half a lifetime buying pantyliners, think about cotton reusable liners.

ProfessorMoody · 17/11/2018 12:28

Bellinisurge -

Rather than mindlessly commenting before RTFT, why not consider thinking about looking at what other people have already said. You will find that I and others have already discussed reusable pantyliners, and many of us already use them.

bellinisurge · 17/11/2018 12:44

Get you @ProfessorMoody . I've commented on this thread a few times to encourage people to consider reusables. But feel free to tell me off.

ProfessorMoody · 17/11/2018 13:42

Then I do apologise! I thought you were implying that those of us who had recently commented didn't, or wouldn't use reusables.

Sorry Flowers

Shitlandpony · 17/11/2018 13:47

With ZERO evidence as opposed to the scientific study I linked pages ago which proved there was not.

I wonder what causes some people to be prone to thrush and others not - as I'm seemingly immune (famous last words!)

I've been fortunate enough to have never had thrush, yet I should be riddled with it by all accounts - wear pantliners daily, tight skinny jeans most days and at night a triple combo of pantliner + knickers + pyjamas.

Wonder if there's a genetic component perhaps?

MrMeSeeks · 17/11/2018 15:19

Not 'inane' - just a different point of view, which is what these forums are for.
If they’d bothered to even read a few posts then there would be no need for their ridiculous comment.

bellinisurge · 17/11/2018 15:22

My dear @MrMeSeeks , the poster has already apologised to me for their ill judged description of my post as inane.
I have read the full thread

ProfessorMoody · 17/11/2018 15:30

I was apologising for misinterpreting your reusable comment wrong.

The inane comment was made by someone else, and I stand by that it was inane.

DaisyLouB · 17/11/2018 15:37

EspressoButler - I have LS too, horrible condition, what do you use for it? I’m thinking of bathing in bicarbonate Soda later today to see if thay helps but yes back to the topic, waste to the environment and I’m sure there’s bleach and other chemicals in most of these sanitary products so not ideal for everyday use.

Shriek · 17/11/2018 15:48

Sorry for anyone who feels the need, or has to, wear liners everyday, but breathable cotton will reduce any sweatiness, and wick it away, whereas filling the world with plastic and superabsorbant goo doesn't benefit anyone.
Thrush has mulitple causes, AB's, using plastic products or wearing tight clothes if you're prone won't help, the pill has been linked, and certainly was my anecdotal experience, and for some, sex, your partner can keep passing it to you.

Shriek · 17/11/2018 15:48

Sorry, nrtft, nearly 40 pages!

woollyheart · 17/11/2018 18:10

I really think that there might be a genetic component to this.

I know that all the women in my family seem to have problems with thrush and we know from experience that it is best to only allow cotton next to our skin, never use scented products, and avoid bubble baths.

We are quite ok if we follow those rules.

I am very happy that some of you don't have to worry about this.

Maybe there aren't enough of us that do suffer to make a statistically significant contribution to those research studies. But I am still going to avoid doing things that cause me problems personally.

Wereonabearhunt · 30/09/2019 17:55

I wear them for 2 days a month around ovulation cause i can be pretty "damp" then. Thats all though

Wizzbangpop · 30/09/2019 18:01

I wear them if wearing light coloured trousers: I think perhaps of my PCOS I have more discharge than normal so I might on a particularly bad day (sorry if tmi) I might also if I’m threatening to come on or I’m very lightly bleeding but not every day

ALongHardWinter · 30/09/2019 18:04

No,I don't,and nor do a lot of women,I suspect. But I have noticed that women who DO,sometimes have a rather condescending opinion towards those of that don't!

MouthyHarpy · 30/09/2019 18:07

Your friend hates her own body. It’s sad that we teach women that their bodily fluids are “manky”.

And really, isn’t that what pants are for?

tierraJ · 30/09/2019 18:16

ZOMBIE THREAD!!!

Rachelover60 · 30/09/2019 18:39

Never heard of anyone wearing pant liners every day. How odd, what for?

Rainbowknickers · 30/09/2019 18:46

I don’t-I’ve given birth 6 times and do my fanny exercises daily (am very lucky I didn’t need to see a doctor for help)
I just wash my underwear along with the rest of my clothes

Doingtheboxerbeat · 30/09/2019 18:47

35 Pages of landfill sympathy and I suspect most of these people have never given a shit about landfills in their disposable nappy using, car driving, meat eating, holiday abroad going in their lives, but if it wins an argument 🤔 Angry.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 30/09/2019 18:48

Oh shit Grin.
