AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Sammysees · 07/11/2018 14:21

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

Slightly off topic but this thread has opened my eyes somewhat as I thought I was alone on this.
I have pcos I also seem to have damp underwear but not with discharge or pee, is this hormones causing this?! I always thought I was sweaty but since reading this I'm wondering...

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 10/11/2018 20:13

In italy people have their own little towels by the bidet

UpstartCrow · 10/11/2018 20:20

Twinmama32 Yes its your hormones, they can also change your odour pretty noticeably. Plus the added bonus of hot flushes.

Twinmama32 · 10/11/2018 20:26

UpstartCrow I'm 37 and only just discovering this?! I've felt embarrassed for nearly 20 years and never realised because I've never had that conversation. What a relief quite frankly, thank you for answering my question Flowers

Wow! What an environmental disaster.

It's not population growth in poor countries folks that's destroying the planet, it's the way the way we live in the rich counties.

Keep your minge clean and change your pants daily..?

Exceptions made or those that leak urine when sneezing etc!

Leapfrog44 · 12/11/2018 12:30

@IcedPurple BIG fan of bidets here! I wish they hadn't gone out of fashion here. I'm determined to have one in the next house.

I'm never quite sure of bum towel etiquette though. I don't think they are meant to be shared. Everyone seems to have their own personal bum towel in private houses so I don't think you're meant to use someone else's. I've never seen a bum towel in a public bathroom. Paper is safest unless it's your own home / hotel room..

IcedPurple · 12/11/2018 12:36

Yup - bidets are great! When you get used to them, you start to feel horrified that others don't have them. That's certainly how Italians feel when they travel abroad. Sure, you can use baby wipes but nothing feels as clean as good old-fashioned soap and water!

RTFT or maybe just scroll back a page or two. And try a bit of empathy.

Bigonesmallone3 · 13/11/2018 12:05

This is on the mirror today 😂

ZeroFuchsGiven · 13/11/2018 12:10

Its in The sun too.

Mumfun · 13/11/2018 12:20

no wonder its fascinating.
But I still dont get why people dont use reusable ones and are ok with creating so much more landfill

ILoveHumanity · 13/11/2018 12:31

Now I’m gonna run and tell my brother about using panty liners for his sweat patches !

Thank you SUN

CeriBerry · 13/11/2018 18:01

I have a question for advocates of reusable pads/liners- don’t they feel wet? Are they like a thicker knicker or are they made of a fabric that wicks any fluid away in the same way as a disposable would? I’d be interested to try but fear they’d feel wet! Probably TMI sorry

ProfessorMoody · 13/11/2018 18:28

They're made of material with a fleece liner. No, they don't feel wet.

madeyemoodysmum · 13/11/2018 19:51

I've tried reusables but they end up skipping about in my pants. Any tips?

ProfessorMoody · 13/11/2018 20:20

Mine don't! Did yours have poppers to keep them in place?

madeyemoodysmum · 13/11/2018 20:45

Yes even with poppers they move

mehhh · 13/11/2018 20:59

I used to from about 18 ish I always hated it but felt I had to for some weird reason! I don't anymore and I feel so much better! (And cleaner!)

MrMeSeeks · 13/11/2018 21:40

Keep your minge clean and change your pants daily..?
Omg! You’ve cured us all! We must just not be washing regulary Hmm
Dear god can some people not read?

BertieBotts · 14/11/2018 09:24

I've used reusable pads and they don't feel wet even without a fleece outer, because they are made of absorbent stuff (I think my pads are bamboo). They're a bit too thick to use as liners though. And yes if I use them without the inserts in they move around, sometimes ending up upside down.

I don't know whether that's a sizing thing or what.

drspouse · 14/11/2018 09:58

Yes even with poppers they move

also Bertie

You need smaller pants if they are moving about (I make Scrundies for myself which are very snug but comfortable, but other people just buy a slightly smaller size of regular pants).
Or liner-strength period pants.
I wouldn't wear normal pads without the inserts - actual liners are much smaller.

bellinisurge · 14/11/2018 10:38

Another reason to make them yourself if reusables you use move even with snug fit pants.
Customise them to suit you. Cheaper option
Or learn what measurements suit you best and get customised ones via Etsy. More expensive in the short term.
Or buy disposables. As always, your choice.
Or don't get/make because you don't need. Again, what's right for you.

BertieBotts · 14/11/2018 10:51

Smaller pants? That's not what I would have expected. Do you mean snugger? I would have gone for pants with a wider gusset, perhaps a thicker material. I have a few pairs like this which I feel are more "sturdy" but I haven't tried to compare TBH.

PoesyCherish · 14/11/2018 10:57

Interested in the answers you get @Bertie as my current liners move around. The periods pads are totally fine but the liners move. I'd like to know how to get around this as I really hate the disposables

drspouse · 14/11/2018 11:13

Yes I do mean more snug. Not thongs!
