Daughter dragged on floor by Entertainer

My 8 year old was at School today and it was Pirate Day so they had an pretend pirate come in and do some activities. She has been in tears this evening saying the class was in a circle and he came up and frightened her and grabbed her by the foot then proceeded to drag her on the floor so she was on her back in front of every one being dragged around. She said it was supposed to be a joke but she was scared and it hurt her back. Is it me? Aibu? I'm extremely concerned.

That is completely unacceptable. Your poor dd Sad definitely speak to the school about it!

troodiedoo · 01/11/2018 20:17

I would speak to school to find out what happened. If that's true then it's not ok.

Sparklingbrook · 01/11/2018 20:21

I would email the school and get their version of what happened before anything else.

kaytee87 · 01/11/2018 20:23

If it happened that way then you have every right to be angry on your daughters behalf. Just double check what happened first.

TableSalt · 01/11/2018 20:27

It's not right, but it's not that big a deal.

RebelWitchFace · 01/11/2018 20:33

Double check with the school about what happened and if there was any warning this might happen/possibility to opt out. If it's exactly as she said raise concerns about the incident.

YouAreMyRain · 01/11/2018 20:36

@TableSalt "not that big a deal"? She's crying, she was humiliated and hurt in front of her classmates. It's a big fucking deal to her ffs

AjasLipstick · 01/11/2018 20:43

I can almost visualise what he did and it sounds like he's had no training at all. Entertainers should never touch any child...that's why you see a fair bit of balloon bopping and confetti throwing....it's to give the illusion of contact but without any.

I think you need to speak to the school to find out who they used....and what happened according to the teacher....then get an assurance they won't use the company again.

Hoppinggreen · 01/11/2018 20:47

If this happened as she described I would be really cross if it was my child.
I’m very surprised someone who works in a school would do this and that teachers allowed it. I would want to speak to teachers who were there and find out what their take on it was.
At the very least you need to know that this person won’t be coming into school again and that they are made aware that it’s not an acceptable way to interact with children

AjasLipstick · 01/11/2018 20:50

Also, he could have REALLY hurt her. My friend's DD has a serious hip issue and if she was dragged by one foot...well she could be damaged!

RelicHunter · 01/11/2018 21:01

Dragged by the foot...how did this happen? was she already lying on the floor? and what was she wearing? hope to God she had trousers on Shock bloody stupid entertainer.

Diamondangel8 that's awful, speak to school and get their take on it, speak to the teacher who was present.

Hope you get some answers.

If it happened as your child said, it is a big deal!

Thanks
Haworthia · 01/11/2018 21:08

I can’t imagine a children’s entertainer grabbing a child by the leg so they fall down, and then dragging them along the floor. So I think you need to verify what actually happened first.

VerbeenaBeeks · 01/11/2018 21:16

Yeah, another one here saying find out what actually happened first.

KatharineHilbery Other people's problem are not invalidated because someone else has it worse off.

Dollymixture22 · 01/11/2018 21:21

Katharine that is dreadful. But it has absolutely no relevance to this potential situation.

OP find out what really happened. Speak to a teacher. Then, if necessary, consider next steps.

KatharineHilbery · 01/11/2018 21:22

What I am trying to say is that there are problems and problems.

JustJoinedRightNow · 01/11/2018 21:22

What WhiteCoyote said. She’s little and it was a big deal to her. Was she wearing a skirt/dress? Poor thing.

SummerStrong · 01/11/2018 21:23

It is highly unlikely to have happened the way you describe. Definitely find out what really happened before you go in all guns blazing.

If it did happen this way then you are within your rights to be very angry.

kaytee87 · 01/11/2018 21:29

@KatharineHilbery oh bore off.

Hoppinggreen · 01/11/2018 21:30

katharine tragic but irrelevant

Yesterday I visited a one-roomed shack inhabited by twelve people. They had two beds and a cooking stove. The girls generally turn to prostitution in order to feed the family.
It puts a rather different perspective on things.

Most egregiously stupid post of the week, possibly the Usain Bolt of fucking stupid posts, in a message board that's usually not short of photo finishes. 👟

I'd definitely be finding out Captain Hook's side of the story. Where was the class teacher at the time?
