It's the first day of my period and I'm in a fair bit of pain. Feeling a bit sorry for myself and just fancy a sparkling lemon flavoured water from Tesco. Asked DP 10 mins ago if he would go get me one and he categorically said no. I know it's late but aibu to ask. I am on the verge of tears and just would love a "treat"

Mine would, but I wouldn't ask. A period, as awful as they are, ate things we can plan for, unlike cold, flu, accidents, etc. I'd suggest you plan ahead for " treats" you want when down with a period.

Jux · 30/10/2018 18:47

Mine wouldn't. When I'm properly incapacitated by ms though, he does put himself out a lot so that makes up for it.

toxic44 · 30/10/2018 18:48

Yes, he probably would.
CrazyOldBagLady you'd manipulate your husband with lies to get him to go to the shop for you?

supersop60 · 30/10/2018 18:49

Mine would go for painkillers, but not for a treat. You were a bit U to ask for that.

PawPawNoodle · 30/10/2018 18:50

Mr Noodle will go out and buy tampons for me if I've come on unexpectedly and not planned well, and will always offer to pick something up for me if he's out but I doubt he would make a special trip for a drink. I don't think I'd ask him to be honest, it would feel a bit silly.

onegiftedgal · 30/10/2018 19:04

Mine would but I wouldn't even think of asking! You are on a period, not recovering from major surgery. The words high maintenance come to mind.
Get yourself some ibuprofen, a jot water bottle and a warm drink and then make sure you're stocked up on fizzy lemon for next month.

EdWinchester · 30/10/2018 19:04

Mine would, but I would hope I wouldn’t ask or would go myself

Beaverhausen · 30/10/2018 19:13

Mine would, he has even gone and bought me sanitary towels, they were the wrong ones mind you but he tried.

One day I asked him to go and buy me some painkillers and he came home with a chocolate for me too. :)

FaveNumberIs2 · 30/10/2018 19:17

My husband wouldn’t do this just if I’m being whimsicle (he also knows I’d just get in the car and fetch one for myself, bad period or not) but if I was sick, he’d fetch me anything I wanted.

catsandogs · 30/10/2018 19:17

My DH would if I asked and there's no shops here so it's at least 10 minutes in a car to the nearest shops.

However if I asked for fizzy water as a treat he'd assume I was seriously ill and take me to A&E 😂😂

Strongmummy · 30/10/2018 19:20

You’re being a prat. I’d tell you to do one

Frazzledstar1 · 30/10/2018 19:22

I doubt mine would just for a ‘treat’ and tbh I don’t think I’d even ask, id probably just go myself. If it were the other way around I’d tell him to piss off!

Periods suck, but that’s just life.

RudimentalPetal · 30/10/2018 19:22

The next time he asks you for anything that slightly inconveniences you, he already knows your answer....

RudimentalPetal · 30/10/2018 19:25

All these ladies saying they would go themselves, may not have set a standard. If a woman can wash skiddy boxers etc he can go up the shops to help out his gf who is in pain.

54321go · 30/10/2018 19:26

Romance seems to be dead in so many cases, disappointing.

shirleyschmidt · 30/10/2018 19:36

Mine definitely would, he's very kind like that. I'd have to be feeling seriously crap to actually ask though.

treaclesoda · 30/10/2018 19:37

I have been with my husband for 25 years, married for almost 20. I have never ever washed skiddy underwear for him. Or cleaned up around the toilet. Or struggle to look after our children whilst he went to bed with a tiny sniffle. Or tidied up after him. But I still think I'd get Hmm if I asked him to go to the shop at night to get me a particular drink that I fancied.

Strongmummy · 30/10/2018 19:38

@rudimental - the standard I set is that my husband does his own fucking washing 🤣

Bringonspring · 30/10/2018 19:38

I wouldnt ask. Your been ridiculous

gindrinkingmarypoppins · 30/10/2018 19:39

Mine definitely would. And he'd bring back chocolate, ibruprofen and whatever else he felt was warranted/necessary.

But would I ask him to at that time of the night? Probably not, no.

easterholidays · 30/10/2018 19:43

he has even gone and bought me sanitary towels, they were the wrong ones mind you but he tried

On our first weekend away my period started unexpectedly early and I had to ask DP to go to the shop for STs. He came back with incontinence pads. Grin

OhEctoplasmOnIt · 30/10/2018 19:44

Neither me nor my husband have ever had skiddy underwear! Is this a common thing? Wouldn't you just wipe your arse? I couldn't be with someone who has shitty pants!

Boulty · 30/10/2018 19:49

Painkillers yes, sparkly water no YABU you are not a child

MintCassis · 30/10/2018 19:52

Mine would. He added 10 miles onto a 50 mile bike ride yesterday to bring me my little bag of sanpro at work after I left it in the bathroom in the morning. He also went out at 9:50pm on Friday night to buy icing sugar I'd forgotten to get at the supermarket. I do the same when he's ill or needs something though.

Shriekingbanshee · 30/10/2018 19:57

Men with hairy bums need to wash their arses, yuk, but true?

I don't understand how nipping out for 5 mins to pick up a treat for fellow human suffering is such a sweary issue for some.

Saying 'its only a period' - which clearly aren't all the same thing when some are reduced to tears, when others barely notice.

Bit of milk of human kindness wouldn't go amiss.
