Tonight's headline news - Asian gangs, So what next for these young girls? (Triggering)

Apologies, posting here for traffic. Don't think we need a link, it's right across the news tonight. What I'm wondering is what next for these poor girls? The judge said 'It is likely that many, if not all, of these girls will never recover from the abuse they suffered'. But the psychological damage is colossal. There should be compensation and a massive care package. How will they get past this? A prison sentence does nothing to stop flashbacks. I speak as someone similarly affected. I am waiting for my perpetrator's trial to start. I also don't believe I'll get over it. The very best psych help the Nhs has to offer is not enough. I guess I want to hear that they'll be ok, so I know I'll be ok. But I know that isn't the case. Those men should have had life without parole, all of them.

Unfortunately we don't have enough adequate services to help these poor girls. I know because, I am trying to get help for myself.

gamerwidow · 19/10/2018 19:29

They probably won’t be ok. They’ve been failed all their young lives by the people who should have been looking out for them. They’ll just left to get on with it. It’s not right.

whatsthestory123 · 19/10/2018 19:38

lets hope now authorities take action before anymore have their lives ruined

Promiscuity, self harm, addiction, alcoholism, low self esteem, shitty abusive relationships.

I hope the NHS/ss/whatever gives them all they've got so the above isn't their future but I'm not convinced that'll be the case.

I hope with all my heart I'm wrong.

RJnomore1 · 19/10/2018 19:46

I hardly think mumsnet is to blame when the rest if society chooses to ignore it. I've seen it discussed widely here and nowhere else.

Chipsahoy · 19/10/2018 19:48

I went through similar. I won't read the report, too triggering.
Honestly, I will never ever get over it, but 6 yrs of therapy when I was ready (ten yrs after it happened before I was ready) has changed my life.
I am happy, I no longer have nightmares, flashbacks are much fewer and continue to lesson.

They can live beyond this one day, with the right help and support and validation and love and care. It's possible.

deegee90 · 19/10/2018 19:53

The same as the victims of Jimmy Saville and others under yew tree and beyond. They won't get over it unfortunately. Evil will always exist but it will never prevail as through their trauma others will be saved and people will unite in love and compassion. Nothing to do with Asians, everything to do with Evil.

cardibach · 19/10/2018 20:14

surfer it’s grim. It is discussed here. But you know it’s not just Asian gangs, yes?

Surferjet, with all due respect you’re talking out of your arse.

The FWR board has discussed the grooming of white girls by Asian gangs lots of times.

The FWR doesn’t shy away from talking about the ethnicity of perpetrators of rape and sexual assault. In fact, in the aftermath of the Munich / cologne attacks it was the only place that did talk about it. They even raised a govt petition.

Feminism does recognise however that ethnicity isn’t the common denominator of those who commit sexual violence.

But of course, isn’t that a rule of misogyny? Women are always to blame for male violence?

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 19/10/2018 20:36

feminists on here are obsessed with trans men & nothing else.

I think you mean transwomen not men. But also incorrect. Because feminists are worried about predatory men using the loophole of Self ID, not transwomen. Example = Karen white.

If you’re going to throw insults about at least educate yourself on the facts and terminology first.

AnyFucker · 19/10/2018 20:36

surfer of course we are all massively upset about this but why are you having a go at "the feminists of MN" ?

Put the blame squarely where it belongs.

mushlett · 19/10/2018 20:39

I heard this reported on the radio earlier, only a snippet and they didn’t even name anyone but I immediately knew it would be an Asian gang. The fear of coming across as being racist needs to be put aside and the reason this is becoming more prevalent amongst Asian male gangs needs to be addressed.
My heart goes out to any woman or child who is affected by this, I have no idea how they even begin to recover.

StoneRabbit2 · 19/10/2018 20:40

Get your priorities right & more people might take you seriously

ODFOD - you're not even trying. We see you.

Reported.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 19/10/2018 20:47

If you want to blame anyone for their inaction blame the West Yorkshire Police.

EyeSaidTheFly · 19/10/2018 20:50

What has happened to these girls is beyond awful.

The fact that these particular gangs are Asian is irrelevant. The very vast majority of paedophile rings in this country are white, they are not reported in the same way. I work in this area so speak from professional experience. I believe the way in which this is reported in the media is inherently racist and because the 'asian paedophile network' has sadly become a trope. The reason I believe this is because there are a lot of paedophile networks in the country which are not given the same headlines. They work in exactly the same way, with exactly the same motives. The perpetrators are white, they don't get the same press coverage.

If you are truly concerned about the girls it won't matter what cultural background the perpetrators are from: the damage is the same. Sadly predatory and abusive sexual behaviour from males is common to all races, and is prevalent in most societies. If we pretend this is a problem confined to Asian men we do our daughters and those girls a great disservice.

Mine were white... The fall out is the same

Sadly, you are right, and I agree with you.

Only 19 messages Shame on you

silvercuckoo · 19/10/2018 21:03

They are all most likely from one particular country (and religion).
From what I briefly heard on the news, there seem to be both Sikh and Muslim men involved in this particular case.

notanurse2017 · 19/10/2018 21:05

To all of you who have gone through similar - my very best wishes to you.

TheQueef · 19/10/2018 21:06

You can't criticise Islam. Too much backlash.
Catholic priests, care workers, high roller rings, politicians are fair game.

It's the core belief of these men that these women and girls are scum, low class, disposable and unbelievable.

When the authorities are of the same mind we have no chance.
