to be appalled that an NHS doctor is joking online about women smelling of fish

Online as well - on a global platform! This guy is surely discrediting the medical profession as well as the NHS, and god knows how his female patients would feel if they knew. He doesn't hide the fact that he works for the NHS and has 'Dr' in his twitter name.

He should be reported.

And it smells like no fish I have ever encountered, I have no idea where the comparison comes from.

NotBadConsidering · 16/10/2018 09:55

Here’s the thread.

Doxter Harrop has deleted his tweet. Like he tried after doxxing a woman.

frumpety · 16/10/2018 20:14

Sorry, just come back to this thread, so an actual Doctor can see absolutely no significance in a persons biological sex when treating them in A&E ? Seriously ?

Lets be honest here, Dr Harrop may see no need to ask the question, but you can bet that those who have triaged them prior to his intervention will have. So he doesn't have to ask the question.

And to be absolutely clear here, I have nothing against people who are struggling with gender dysphoria, it is a shitty stick to be handed, but if Brenda turns up at A&E with testicular torsion, pretending that Bob is Brenda and doesn't have testicles isn't going to help in the same way that pretending Brenda is Bob isn't going to help if they have ovarian torsion. So pretending that a persons biological make up doesn't matter is dangerous. Call Bob, Brenda and Brenda, Bob , but never ignore what is actually biologically there.

Mrskeats · 16/10/2018 20:30

Just had a reply from the gmc saying that tweet has been added to my complaint (huge pile by now)

Flowerpot2005 · 16/10/2018 20:31

How do you know, or what proof do you have, this person is a Gynaecologist & that the profile is genuine?

ToeToToe · 16/10/2018 20:33

He's genuine, he was on Sky News and tweets under his own name.

I'm not sure he's an gynaecologist though - I thought he worked for A&E in the North West.

He has a very public profile.

Flowerpot2005 · 16/10/2018 20:36

@ Toeto toe, thank you! Do you have any links?

Charliethefeminist · 16/10/2018 20:39

Flowerpot, he's definitely real. He wants the clicks so that journos phone him and ask to comment on the media. He's too risky for most tho - already had to apologise for ill advised commentary and has very little expertise.

MrsTommyBanks · 16/10/2018 20:39

No way in hell would that man ever, Ever, be allowed near myself or my adult female children. For any reason, but especially to treat them medically.

Flowerpot2005 · 16/10/2018 20:41

Does anyone have a name please? I can't find via a search online. Thank you!

MrsTommyBanks · 16/10/2018 20:42

Actually one if my DDs did have BV. I'd have been distraught to see the Dr that treated her behave in this way.

Charliethefeminist · 16/10/2018 20:42

What are you searching for?

Flowerpot2005 · 16/10/2018 20:48

One way only to see if he is in fact a registered doctor in this country

UpstartCrow · 16/10/2018 20:49

Dr Adrian Harrop is a GP trainee currently working in the A&E department at Scarborough Hospital

Mrskeats · 16/10/2018 20:57

Oh he’s real. To can check the register

Is puzzling anyway- if they believe trans women are women, why don’t Amy and Jane see this as directed at them? Or do they believe they aren’t the same as “other” women after all??
Because trans women are better at women-ing than we are. Hotter, better at hair and shoes and without all that inconvenient bleeding and being pregnant and shit.

Flowerpot2005 · 16/10/2018 21:03

He is a very junior doctor, only one registered with the GMC. I can't find his comment online but if he is going round saying tosh like that....I hope he comes under the scrunity of the NHS management

leeloo1 · 16/10/2018 21:10

But if transwoman are so desperate to be 'women' shouldnt they be seeking to encapsulate and use that fish(?!) smell for their own nethers?

Belonger · 16/10/2018 21:43

I assume he's planning on opening a private clinic as soon as he can, and this is all positioning and posturing.

Having read more of his tweets, I feel really sad for the people he's terrifying with all his scaremongering. He's constantly telling trans people that everyone hates them, really stirring fear up. It's almost like he's grooming people - they can only trust him and everyone else is out to get them. Come to Uncle Adrian's Gender Clinic...

That info from the gmc is helpful, thanks for that. Looks like he's in some way accountable to Health Education North East, under the revalidation process. I feel so sorry for his patients. Just imagine, he sees a patient, then snuffles around on his phone posting abusive tweets, then looks up with glazed eyes at the next poor bugger who's got an appointment.

If he shaming a women based on her illness which is a long term health condition it could actually be reported as a disability hate speech as long term health conditions are classed as disabilities under he DDA and equality act. It is really easy to report on the true vision website.

peachgreen · 16/10/2018 22:11

This thread is massively misleading. There's a thread in FWR which explains the context much better. He (and others) are making fun of a sticker put over trans-positive posters by gender-critical feminists saying (amongst other things) "do not call us fish". It appears he hasn't encountered that term (I haven't either) and so he and the other tweeters found it funny. Criticise him all you want for that and other behaviour, but don't act like he's actually suggesting women smell of fish. Misinformation does nobody any favours.

AssassinatedBeauty · 16/10/2018 22:27

I don't believe for a nanosecond that he isn't aware of the meaning of fish in this context. And even if I were to believe it, before directing his jibes at women, it might have been an idea to check what it meant.

peachgreen · 16/10/2018 22:30

That's fair enough @AssassinatedBeauty but this thread was still misleading and context should have been provided by the OP as it was in FWR.
