to be appalled that an NHS doctor is joking online about women smelling of fish

Online as well - on a global platform! This guy is surely discrediting the medical profession as well as the NHS, and god knows how his female patients would feel if they knew. He doesn't hide the fact that he works for the NHS and has 'Dr' in his twitter name.

OP posts:
ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 15/10/2018 18:50

He should definitely not be qualified as a GP or treating (adult human female) women.

Is he even a doctor, or just a trainee? Can trainees call themselves Dr?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 15/10/2018 18:53

You can but try, steff.

Howsoon · 15/10/2018 18:54

Yes trainees, once they have completed the first degree, are doctors.

placemats · 15/10/2018 18:57

Will they take complaints from non-UK residents? I'm in the US, but I'm horrified by this.

Steff Given that you can access healthcare in the UK if you visit, be it through insurance payments or private health care, then yes I would say, you can complain.

user1490465531 · 15/10/2018 19:08

I really don't understand where this women smell of fish thing came from.
We don't unless we have a B.V.infection
So why is it still used as an insult to put down women.
And why is this smell exclusive to women's genitals only?
I'm even heard other women say it as an insult to other women when we all know it's bullshit and not true.

Kazzyhoward · 15/10/2018 19:12

He'll just do the usual excuse and claim his Twitter account was hacked, like so many others have done and got away with it.

LeftRightCentre · 15/10/2018 19:14

He's a woman-hating fuckwit.

PersonWithAVulva · 15/10/2018 20:01

He is a raging misogynist. There have been complaints made to the GMC for a while, he doxxed a woman on here who is also a health professional. People appear not to be even getting replies to complaints.

LemonJello · 15/10/2018 20:04

How could any women have confidence in going to see a doctor about an intimate problem if the GMC don’t make it clear that this is completely unacceptable.

RepealtheGRA · 15/10/2018 20:06

YANBU OP I thought he was reported to the GMC quite a while ago for something else, but definitely report again.

Was his mate who thinks raping twelve year olds may be ‘culturally acceptable’ reported as well?

His whole account is disgusting.

KatVonGulag · 15/10/2018 20:29

He was called Dr Haddock after trying to bully Birds Eye into stopping advertising on Mumsnet.

Hardly the same as fish insults being thrown at females.

Shockingly unprofessional. I don't understand how he gets away with it

frumpety · 15/10/2018 21:19

Being someone of a certain age, it is a very long time since I left the playground and the fish related insults, so didn't initially make the jump to what was being discussed on the thread in question. So apologies.

BirdseyesFrozen · 15/10/2018 23:00

Blimey! Is that the fellah? Bit of a Liverpool accent? Please tell me that he doesn't work on Merseyside someone. Would not have him near my family the way he is ranting on.

He's not challenging any of those nasty anti women fishy jokes on twitter either is he? No wonder he deleted it. A bit too clever to repeat most of it but egging them all.

He is an NHS medical doctor? Like, for real?Shock. Just watched that telly clip. I'm shocked.

He's telling the woman ( long name, can't catch it) to call him DOCTOR but keeps calling her "Ms." in a put down sort of way, when she says she is Mrs.?
Then he say that he doesn't think it's relevant to ask patients their sex in A and E? WTAF? Unpleasant and unprofessional man altogether. If that's what he is like under a bit of pressure in a debate, what's he like in a medical emergency? Sheesh.

You can lodge a formal complaint about a doctor to the GMC here
www.gmc-uk.org/concerns/raise-a-concern-about-a-doctor

You will need the doctor's Registration number, which can be found by searching the Medical Register

www.gmc-uk.org/registration-and-licensing/the-medical-register

Please include any evidence, e.g. screenshots

SunsetBeetch · 16/10/2018 06:27

No SimplySleepy he's called Haddock because of the Birdseye thing. Even if he was feminine (which he isn't), the last people to make fun of him for that would be gender critical feminists, given that they are opposed to gender stereotypes.

ihatethecold · 16/10/2018 07:05

I don’t understand the Birdseye thing. Why would a dr have an issue with Mumsnet and Birdseye?

ToeToToe · 16/10/2018 07:10

Because Mumsnet is full of women so is always being attacked by misogynists.

And because Birdseye advertises with Mumsnet.

Dr Harrop has decided women are not allowed to talk online about changes to the Gender Recognition Act and safety concerns for women and children.

Gingerrogered · 16/10/2018 07:18

If you are complaining about him be very careful with your personal information and ensure your details won’t be passed on. I’ve seen people on Twitter being harassed by TRAs associated with him and it’s not pretty.

NicoAndTheNiners · 16/10/2018 07:22

If he was my GP and I thought I had a BV infection or indeed any problem with my genitals I wouldn’t feel I could go and see him because I’d be worried he’d be sniggering inside about me smelling of fish.

I feel sorry for the women who are covered by his GP surgery.

BertrandRussell · 16/10/2018 07:24

I wish there were responsible adults looking out for the very vulnerable young people caught up in this awfulness-Aimee Challoner, for example. They can’t possibly be in a position to take care of themselves, surely?

borntobequiet · 16/10/2018 07:29

Link to the Birdseye affair:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3363404-TRAs-going-after-MN-sponsors-BirdsEye
The company’s response is very funny.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 16/10/2018 07:48

Fuck you, Harrop.

Transwomen are not women.

Women do not have penises.

Women are adult human females.

RoboticSealpup · 16/10/2018 08:30

And why is this smell exclusive to women's genitals only?

Because patriarchy.

Babyiwantabump · 16/10/2018 08:36

I can’t seem to find the whole twitter thread and can only see where he refers to himself as Mr haddock- can someone point out where he refers to women smelling of fish?
