Bigoted - I think the comment's meant quite literally. Bookies make money out of people betting on sporting contests which are not fixed (hence match-fixing or throwing races is not merely bad sportsmanship, but an actual criminal offence!)
And what is this if not legalised, sporting-body officially sanctioned match fixing?
Actually, given our conversations about "follow the money", this is a very interesting angle to pursue. Because what often turns this batshittery round is competing financial interests (for instance, with industrial-scale climate change denial, one of the things that turned it round was the fact that other major financial players - particularly the insurance and even more so the reinsurance industry - had huge financial stakes in taking climate science seriously).
