That a male just won a women’s cycling World Championship?

Can’t really get my mind round this tbh though i was aware of another male Laurel Hubbard taking medals in the Women’s Weight Lifting World Championships earlier this year. Are we really ready for males winning the Women’s Wimbledon Title and the women’s Olympic 100m Final?

Has anybody mentioned the Iranian women's football team yet?

this is terrible. it's clear there are biological differences between being born a man vs a woman. I’m baffled that this has been allowed by the doctors and medical advisors who take part in these games.

It’s sad that women can’t even enjoy their own sports anymore without having men intruding.

I’m all for people being who they want to be, but when this affects others negatively, then it becomes wrong. End Of.

What a joke. I don't care what Rachel wants to call themselves but they do not qualify as biologically female. Eventually there will be so many more trans people that all women's teams will just be purely trans women, so we will need our own biological category thank you very much.

TooManyBooksTooLittleTime · 16/10/2018 17:35

Mckinnon is a disgusting cheat, but I don't really blame him for taking the opportunity. The real fault lies with the people making the rules, who made this travesty possible, who legalised the most ridiculous form of cheating.

There should be no place for men in women's sport.

This isn't all about self-id, as I believe Fallon Fox is a transsexual and would qualify, under the current rules, as a woman, with or without self-id. The fact is, when it comes to competitive sport, no-one should allow FF into the women's category.

StoorieHoose · 16/10/2018 17:44

Ricky Gervais has retweeted PinkNews tweet about this. Lots of comments from men about how ridiculous it is. Not a lot of trans activists answering the men’s comments funny that eh

FekkoTheLawyer · 16/10/2018 17:47

I used to do martial arts. DS (age 14) does now (different discipline).

I am bigger, sneaker and more aggressive than he is and he can kick my butt (even if I use 'mum threats' and dirty tricks - of you win you have to take out the rubbish for a week / oh look - a pokemon!!!).

How can this be fair? I self ID as being a 14 year old boy and everything...

MimiSam · 16/10/2018 17:50

For those that don't know, one of the subjects McKinnon teaches at university level is ...wait for it...sports ethics !

India Willoughby has replied to the Ricky gervais tweet in a very reasonable manner

Best comment under Ricky's tweet-
Transwinner. He thinks he's a winner but he isn't really.

FekkoTheLawyer · 16/10/2018 18:04

'Have a bit of common sense'. That's the most reasonable comment I've seen in a long time!

Musereader · 16/10/2018 18:06

Mack Begg

nypost.com/2018/02/25/transgender-boy-wins-girls-state-wrestling-title-for-second-time/

Where are the TRAs fighting for him to be allowed to join the mens team?

Musereader · 16/10/2018 18:07

So transwomen can compete as their chosen gender but transmen still have to compete with women?

Ta1kinpeace · 16/10/2018 18:14

When I see the Football premier league allowing women of any variant to play, then I'll worry about that one ...
Or rugby
or cricket
or NFL
or NBA

SlowlyShrinking · 16/10/2018 18:21

Mack begs competes with women whilst taking testosterone. Women lose either way.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/10/2018 18:22

What’s most galling about all this is that the people involved claim to love sport. If anything people are just going to stop watching it. No-one likes a sporting competition that isn’t a level playing field. It becomes farcical.

So these people are having the exact opposite effect to (presumably) the one they intended. How long before people watching in stadiums start slow clapping and do a walkout?

Ta1kinpeace · 16/10/2018 18:25

So Mack Beggs is allowed to compete as a girl
while taking performance enhancing steroids
R-I-G-H-T

JacquesHammer · 16/10/2018 18:29

Rachel McKinnon has a pithy tweet about how they’re an expert in transgender and ethics in sport.

I’m about to identify as an expert too and tell them they’re talking utter piffle

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 16/10/2018 18:48

This is the logical consequence of the Transwomen are Women mantra.

Both the Minister for Women and Equalities and the Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities are in agreement that transwomen are women, along with most of the other politicians who are paid to protect the rights of women.

If you base your reasoning on TWAW being a true statement, and are determined to have it written into law, then you cannot make exceptions for enormous hulking transwomen who used to be third rate sportsmen but have suddenly transmogrifying into Olympic level women athletes. The inconvenient fact of their biological advantage has to be fudged and denied, any questioning must silenced or dismissed as anti-trans hatred. The Emperors soft, smooth feminine girl penis might be dangling in front of their eyes, but they are not going to admit to seeing it there.

We already know that facts are transphobic. Women get banned from Twitter for sharing statistics about male violence rates, and how they remain unchanged after males transition to transwomen. Though when a transwomen tweets telling women to "suck my big lady cock" Twitter allows that message to stand, and the transwoman herself is rewarded with a job as Women's Officer for Telford Labour Party.

OvaHere · 16/10/2018 19:09

I believe one of the reasons Texas won't allow Mack to compete with the males is because it would set a precedent for situations like McKinnon in female sport.

Women get shafted either way but I understand why they made that decision. They should treat testosterone as any other kind of doping though.

shirleyschmidt · 16/10/2018 19:49

Nothing against reasonable trans gender people, but this has really annoyed me. The pendulum has officially swung so far the other way that one individual's 'human right' to compete alongside biological women has totally trampled THEIR right to a level playing field. Those runners up should have refused to get on the podium but probably fear the backlash. McKinnon and her posse of radicals can shout and scream 'bigot' until the cows come home but the majority see this for the politically correct farce it is.

TwistedStitch · 16/10/2018 19:56

Interesting that the usually very vocal TRAs, Harrop and co etc have been silent on this. Almost as if they know it's indefensible and would damage their cause.

FekkoTheLawyer · 16/10/2018 19:59

Maybe it's because it's sweaty sports - if it had been a beauty pagent they'd be all over it.

KatherinaMinola · 16/10/2018 20:41

Rachel McKinnon has a pithy tweet about how they’re an expert in transgender and ethics in sport.

In any other academic discipline (or any other walk of life, frankly) he would have a clear conflict of interest and not be allowed to give evidence to ethics committees.

He has professionally and financially benefited from the ethical advice he's given to sporting bodies, if I'm reading this correctly. That's fraud, surely?
