That a male just won a women’s cycling World Championship?

Can’t really get my mind round this tbh though i was aware of another male Laurel Hubbard taking medals in the Women’s Weight Lifting World Championships earlier this year. Are we really ready for males winning the Women’s Wimbledon Title and the women’s Olympic 100m Final?

Am I right in thinking that the consultation on self-id closes this Friday

I'm pretty sure it closes TODAY!

LaPufalina · 16/10/2018 07:26

This has made me feel sick.
I work in sport (we have an amazing women's team that have gone professional) and I have two daughters that I hope will want to take part in competitive sport if they want to, and I feel utterly helpless and angry. I've done the consultation, what else can I do?

ClocheEncounter · 16/10/2018 07:30

@LaPufalina, you can tell Women's Hour about how you feel about the new rules in regards to how it might affect your daughters, they're covering the general topic this morning: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007qlvb/contact

And you can email or write to your MP: www.theyworkforyou.com

noeffingidea · 16/10/2018 07:33

Wow the transphobia in these comments are absolutely horrifying
Well you're easily horrified, aren't you? I suggest you get used to being horrified then, because people are waking up now, and you're going to hear a lot more of what you think is 'transphobia' but in reality is just common sense.

LaPufalina · 16/10/2018 07:35

Thanks Cloche, will do now, whilst my blood pressure is so high! I'd like to do it from my work email, but something tells me that's probably not a good idea

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 16/10/2018 07:39

google not to say all white mc people think the same, but I can almost guarantee that all those who think like this are white and mc.

The consultation closes on the 19th for those who asked. I just completed it and it is hard-going. What is with the convoluted way of asking the questions? That will have put a lot of people off.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 16/10/2018 07:47

Wow the transphobia in these comments are absolutely horrifying

That comment never gets old.

Oh, wait. It does.

Transwomen are not women.

Women do not have penises.

Fuck you, McKinnon.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 16/10/2018 07:47

Women are adult human females.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/10/2018 07:47

Can you link to that ruling re transwomen testosterone have to be
lower than a females

Thats not what i have read on official documents linked to on mumsnet and i think you very much mistaken

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/10/2018 07:50

This is appalling. It's not about transphobia it's about the fact that the "winner" has been enabled to cheat their way to victory because people are so woke that they are prepared to erase women's rights in favour of trans rights.

Sport should be based on biological sex not gender. People with penises shouldn't compete against people with vaginas. Simple.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 16/10/2018 07:53

People born with penises should not be competing against people born with vaginas.

People with XY chromosomes should not be competing against people with XX chromosomes.

Transwomen are not women.

LaPufalina · 16/10/2018 07:55

Much as it should be impossible to be this angry with a newborn baby asleep on my chest, somehow I'm angrier, given that she's a girl! I've fired off livid emails to women's hour and my MP, thanks for peaking me, cycle champ!

Soubriquet · 16/10/2018 07:57

I would rather be called transphobic than bury my head in the sand and then act outraged when there is NOTHING for women.

Funny how men’s things aren’t touched isn’t it Hmm

Mrstwiddle · 16/10/2018 08:00

This makes me so angry, I suppose the only good news is that the more ridiculous the stories, the more people will wake up and see what’s going on.

Is there a website where a petition could be set up to demand the silver medalist i.e the real winner gets the gold?

KittyMcKitty · 16/10/2018 08:12

To those saying sport isn’t fair you could be up against Usain Bolt etc that’s massively missing the point. RM isn’t a supreme athlete they are middling at best but competing in a category they shouldn’t be in. I’m no sprinter but could put up quite an impressive display against a group of 4 year olds at sports day.

ashvivienne · 16/10/2018 08:16

A trans woman trained her arse off for an event and won while sticking to competition rules and now I’m angry because I’m so entitled I feel like this means everything is being taken from me. Oh bore off.

JacquesHammer · 16/10/2018 08:17

They started from an unfair advantage point.

If you see the erosion of women’s rights as boring, that doesn’t say much for you.

TerfedOff · 16/10/2018 08:17

This is a male bodied individual competing in female sport. It's cheating it looks ridiculous and it is causing the world to peak trans.

MsHopey · 16/10/2018 08:18

It's all about equailty if a women won the mens there would be no outrage .You can't pick and choose

Question, not goady. Has a transman competed in a male category against other born males and been placed anywhere near the top?
I see articles like this every few weeks and it's always transwomen knock born women off the top spots. Do transmen win?
Because then the equality issue isn't really the same. People are upset because men who have been through puberty are naturally stronger and bigger than women and their bodies are made up differently.
Are there any examples of transmen coming anywhere near the top, because I never hear about those stories.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/10/2018 08:21

And the biological women who entered this race also trained their arses off and stuck to the competition rules only to find themselves cheated out of their places by a biological male. Women are entitled to be angry about this.

MissSusanSays · 16/10/2018 08:22

All the women who they competed against trained their arse off and stood no real chance of winning. It wasn’t a fair competition. Just as anyone racing Lance Armstrong when he was blood doping wasn’t entering a fair competition.

Why should women bother to compete if they are only there to allow mediocre men the chance to show off what great cheaters they are. You bore off with your misogyny.

Newsofas · 16/10/2018 08:24

It would be impossible for a trans male to female sports person to get their testosterone lower than a born woman. So to say that for trans to compete they need lower testosterone is crap.

My 13 year old skinny young son beats me a part run without even trying. I’ve been running for years, am for and come in under 30 mins for 5k but I can’t beat him. Why because already his arms and keys are longer than mine, he is in puberty, etc etc

I would rather be called transphobic than ignore what is happening here. If trans are women then they should be against this too. But oh yes they are for women’s rights when it suits them.

Fill in the consultation. Wrote to your MP( you will be amazed how many have drunk the cool aid), wrote to your unions, phone women’s how, tweet the bbc. Etc do not be quiet about this and think it will get better. It will not.

JacquesHammer · 16/10/2018 08:24

ashvivienne

Take a look at Laurel Hubbard. See if you think their weightlifting career was anything other than a desire to win at all costs. Mediocre man, due to physiology already stronger than a woman

Or Fallon Fox. Beating up and seriously injuring women as sport.

Or Hannah Mouncey. Playing ARL against women. And breaking bones.

But yeah, it’s entitled not to want that 🙄

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/10/2018 08:28

ASHVIVIENE

Sorry for yelling but i think you missed my post

Can i have a link to the ruling please and thank you

Elephantinacravat · 16/10/2018 08:30

Ha, yes this!
