To not support DH in his half marathon tomorrow

AlloVeraLouRolls · 13/10/2018 22:18

A) it's not his first. He's an old pro
B) it's going to pour with rain all day
C) it's in Peterborough

I still feel guilty for not going to cheer him from the sidelines though.

Should I go and support him? You decide. You've got until 7am tomorrow to say Yay or Nay.

No, stay in bed nd have a lie in!

GunpowderGelatine · 13/10/2018 22:20

Well it depends. If you live in Peterborough then YABU. If you live in Aberdeen YANBU. You're not one of those MNers who doesn't realise that not everyone else lives in London, are you? Wink

God stay at home. If it was his first then you’d have to go really. Otherwise meh.

MrsBlondie · 13/10/2018 22:21

Im a runner and I wouldn't expect my husband to support in heavy rain if not my first half marathon

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 13/10/2018 22:22

Wouldn’t fancy it myself! I often wonder about supporting people in things like this cos you just stand there and go “ooooo you go!!’” As they zoom past 🤨
I’d go tho if DH really wanted me there and would be all on his lonesome.
If you don’t go you could make a big fuss of him on his return with a nice meal

FredFlinstoneMadeOfBones · 13/10/2018 22:23

No stay in bed.

ILovePierceBrosnan · 13/10/2018 22:24

Gawd no! Also a runner and I did it for me. It can be quite a selfish thing to take time out from family and go running. Do what you want to do on a Sunday morning!

tinabloodysparkle · 13/10/2018 22:24

oh god no, don't go - amateur running isn't a spectator sport, its boring, cold, wet, you have way better things to do on a Sunday morning!

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/10/2018 22:24

Stay in bed. Starfish!

His choice to run. In the rain. In Peterborough. On his head be it.

Nesssie · 13/10/2018 22:24

Yes I would. I support my partner at every marathon and half that is close enough and I am free. And he does a lot!
It’s a great achievement even though he’s done 30 of them, each one is different and I like to celebrate with him.

NorthernRunner · 13/10/2018 22:25

I don’t expect my husband to watch me when I do my half’s, especially when it’s bad weather. He only comes to my big ones.
Does your DH want you to come?

AlloVeraLouRolls · 13/10/2018 22:34

Wow, almost unanimous! DH, I think, would quite like me there but he knows we (11yo DS and I) would be standing around in the wet. We don't live in Peterborough but not quite as far away as Aberdeen!

Stay at home and make him a bacon sandwich for when he gets back.

TruelyTruelyScrumptious · 13/10/2018 22:38

No, it's boring and not always great for children.

I used to take my dc to tri and marathon, however they saw 2 deaths and after that I stayed away.

Piratesue · 13/10/2018 22:39

Nope. My DH Doing one tomorrow as well no way am I going. It's boring!!

AlloVeraLouRolls · 13/10/2018 22:41

Gosh truely how awful.

OP posts:
BishyBarneyBee3 · 13/10/2018 22:41

No!

Nesssie · 13/10/2018 22:43

Slightly different if you have a child and it’s a distance away.
Got to admit, I’m thinking back to all those times I’ve stood in the freezing cold and rain and wondering if I could have stayed at home??
I guess it also depends how fast he runs it in? I wouldn’t want to hang around any longer than 1 1/2- 2 hours for a 1/2.

CeeCeeMacFay · 13/10/2018 22:44

Stay home!

MaisyPops · 13/10/2018 22:44

What DH and I do for each other is we arrive later at the finish for each other's events, celebrate together and whoever is supporting brings a bag of warm clothes, post exercise drink and some snacks.
It's nicer than spending your whole morning out in the rain but still means we can support each other.

Iloveacurry · 13/10/2018 22:45

Er no.

NicoAndTheNiners · 13/10/2018 22:47

Dh does ultra marathons and fell races, I haven’t been to a single one.

DewDropsonKittens · 13/10/2018 22:47

What's wrong with Peterborough?

user1473878824 · 13/10/2018 22:49

@DewDropsonKittens it’s fucking miles away from Aberdeen?

ShatnersBassoon · 13/10/2018 22:49

YANBU. He's doing it for his own satisfaction, not admiration from an audience. Also, it's so boring for spectators.
