Does anyone really care about this? I know tabloids are trying to push this as fascinating and brilliant news (probably at request of her dad) but who cares if a random upper class women gets married? Why is it on tv? Why would anyone be mad enough to go on watch a carriage possession in Windsor and more importantly why does the tax payer have to pick up the bill for security etc?

From what I understand from this they put money into the treasury from investments and revenue etc then they draw a smaller amount out to cover their costs

You understand wrong. The crown estates are not their personal property.

LaurieMarlow · 14/10/2018 01:55

the queen has enormous personal wealth

She does have significant personal wealth. That doesn't mean any of it is spent in her day to day upkeep as she has other (public) funds.

abbsisspartacus · 14/10/2018 04:36

No it belongs to the crown as explained in the article there are other sources of income that goes to the running of her estates and she does own personal properties it was set up years ago

abbsisspartacus · 14/10/2018 04:38

ĹaurieMarlow you seem to be determined that she uses public funds if things were changed so we don't get the money from the crown estate the treasury would have to find more money from us

LaurieMarlow · 14/10/2018 05:44

Yes there are other sources of income.

On the issue of the crown estates, it belongs to the legal entity of 'the crown' not the Windsor family personally. These are different things.

From the Crown Estate website ...

The Crown Estate belongs to the reigning monarch 'in right of The Crown', that is, it is owned by the monarch for the duration of their reign, by virtue of their accession to the throne. But it is not the private property of the monarch - it cannot be sold by the monarch, nor do revenues from it belong to the monarch.

abbsisspartacus · 14/10/2018 08:38

Yes as I've previously said 🙄

LaurieMarlow · 14/10/2018 10:38

they put money into the treasury from investments and revenue etc

This statement does not indicate you've understood correctly, CE money cannot be described as 'theirs'.

However i find some of your posts hard to follow so perhaps we are entirely on the same page, who knows.

A certain individual sounds as if she is pretending to be Rumpole. Lol

Then you understand wrong 🤣
