To not give a shit about the Eugenie wedding?

Does anyone really care about this? I know tabloids are trying to push this as fascinating and brilliant news (probably at request of her dad) but who cares if a random upper class women gets married? Why is it on tv? Why would anyone be mad enough to go on watch a carriage possession in Windsor and more importantly why does the tax payer have to pick up the bill for security etc?

The back of her dress is beautiful, not so sure about the top of the front. She looks lovely though.

longwayoff · 12/10/2018 11:14

Crikey, thought she was going to trip on that and fall down those stairs.

MidnightAura · 12/10/2018 11:15

I could not care less. Just one more over pompous wedding by the biggest free loaders in the country and tax payers are paying for it.

Eliza9917 · 12/10/2018 11:16

That train is fantastic.

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 12/10/2018 11:18

She looks lovely.

I know I’m going on, but Airmiles Andy makes me so angry. He does fuck-all and thinks he is entitled to absolutely everything at the expense of the taxpayer. Hey Andy, ever heard of “an heir and a spare”? Well, you were the spare, and you haven’t even been that since about 1982, so sling your horrible hook! Angry

And breathe...!

Reading from "The Great Gatsby" is an odd choice. A book about the overprivileged being careless with the lives of others

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 12/10/2018 11:27

Here are some of the outfits. Imagine being able to wear poppy delevigne’s dress. Sigh!

PortiaCastis · 12/10/2018 11:37

Its Eugenie's day she looks lovely, hope she's very happy and the media bitching will stop for a coup!e of days

Easylay · 12/10/2018 11:42

She should have had a much smaller wedding. She does no royal duties and is way down the be list

LillianGish · 12/10/2018 11:56

The Great Gatsby - what was she thinking of? I’m guessing the vicar tried to talk them out of it - though presumably isn’t allowed to say anything too critical - then bravely tried to explain the choice in his sermon. On second thoughts, maybe it’s was entirely appropriate, but not at all the image the couple were trying to portray.

CSIblonde · 12/10/2018 11:57

I don't get why it's being televised, she's not a major royal. The Queen recently took away her & her sisters daily protection officers as they do no Royal duties (even tho Prince Andrew was "livid"). Then she gets a big televised wedding: like a major royal. Mixed messages. Palace PR machine seem to consistently function in their own alternate reality. If she wanted a big wedding, Dad should have forked out, not us. And I've just twigged who her fiance reminds me of: comedian Lee Evans (HTH).

Poudrenez · 12/10/2018 11:59

Ha ha, great post OP Grin

YANBU. I don't give a shit either.

MadMum101 · 12/10/2018 11:59

Yes, I was well miffed that this morning's Jezza Kyle was cancelled for that!

longwayoff · 12/10/2018 12:06

A reading from The Great Gatsby? GrinGrinGrin who says irony is dead?

LaurieMarlow · 12/10/2018 12:26

In fairness the dress is lovely. And given she's not known for her foolproof fashion choices that's a relief. I agree it's nicer than Meghan's.

PlainVanilla · 12/10/2018 12:29

I watched. I thought it was a lovely, happy occasion. I particularly liked the fact that they chose the older form of service. Hearing it again made me realise that there is a lot of good sense in the sentiments.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/10/2018 12:30

I like weddings - pretty frocks, wedding dress, flowers, bridesmaids etc - and I haven't been to one in real life for ages, so I enjoy watching them on the TV. I know it's fluff, and there are more important things going on, but I don't see anything wrong with a bit of fluff and triviality every now and then.

But if it isn't your thing, that's entirely fine - we all like different things.
And I can appreciate why people aren't interested in this wedding - I have to admit, I watched it because of the wedding-ness, not because I have any particular interest in the couple.

Ghanagirl · 12/10/2018 12:39

@Eliza9917
“She’s a proper princesses*
As opposed to what exactly, last two Royal Weddings were Prince Harry and Prince William.

LizB62A · 12/10/2018 12:42

I'm also on the "don't give a shit" side of the fence, and wondering why we're paying for this with our taxes.
She's not really a royal, and she's probably never paid any tax herself in her life.
Her dad has always been a massive sponger. Clearly it runs in the family......

JacquesHammer · 12/10/2018 12:44

She’s a proper princesses

Or as one well known MN wazzock poster suggested a "blood princess" which unfortunately backfired as conjured up images of The Red Wedding Grin

Amanduh · 12/10/2018 12:46

You’re entitled to whatever you like. But millions of people are interested yes.

Nanny0gg · 12/10/2018 13:03

We're not paying for the wedding so she can invite as many as she likes.

We're paying for the security because the Queen and all the royals are there.

It's telev8sed because presumably ITV thought it was a sound commercial propostion.

LaurieMarlow · 12/10/2018 13:07

We're not paying for the wedding

Well we are in reality, but I guess that argument goes beyond the scope of this thread.

We're paying for the security because the Queen and all the royals are there.

We're paying vastly more because she wanted the carriage ride. I think they should have covered the extra security costs themselves.

lynmilne65 · 12/10/2018 13:18

Even if you don't like it swearing isn't necessary
