To not give a shit about the Eugenie wedding?

Does anyone really care about this? I know tabloids are trying to push this as fascinating and brilliant news (probably at request of her dad) but who cares if a random upper class women gets married? Why is it on tv? Why would anyone be mad enough to go on watch a carriage possession in Windsor and more importantly why does the tax payer have to pick up the bill for security etc?

OP posts:
Ghanagirl · 12/10/2018 13:22

We're paying vastly more because she wanted the carriage ride. I think they should have covered the extra security costs themselves.
Her whole wedding had touches Of MM 👸🏽

Ghanagirl · 12/10/2018 13:23

Okay that emoji came out weird...

GunpowderGelatine · 12/10/2018 13:24

Good for you.

I'm never quite sure why people feel the need to declare they don't care about something. If you don't care then don't make such a fuss

I like it, and I think she looks gorgeous

Neshoma · 12/10/2018 13:26

Gosh there are some sour-mouthed grumpy posters today.

There were over 30 Royals today and I think we should ensure their safety - especially the little ones.

Eugenie does't perform many public duties, but equally doesn't receive any money from the public purse.

Wiki - Princess Eugenie does not carry out public duties and receives no allowance from the Privy Purse. She undertakes minimal public engagements, which are usually connected with the charities she supports, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and Children in Crisis.

Now Meghan Markle on the other hand.....

PositiveVibez · 12/10/2018 13:27

It's inescapable, unless I turn the radio off in work, which would piss my colleagues off.

They played some on the news before of them making their vows.

I did have to titter when she said 'for richer, for poorer'

FOR POORER!! FOR FUCKING POORER.

It's like some kind of sick joke.

sue51 · 12/10/2018 13:29

There was a piece on BBC news. The small crowd gathered hardly warranted the extra police or money needed on security for the carriage ride. I think the royal family and their advisors have been tone deaf on this one.

Ghanagirl · 12/10/2018 13:30

Neshoma
I get certain types will never like MM but she was marrying the heirs son and will be and has carried out royal dutie, get over it

Iwanthertoloveit34 · 12/10/2018 13:35

Just read an article about how she choose to wear a dress that would display the scar from her scoliosis op. I congratulate her for this it is important to raise awareness and to show people that they don't have to hid their scars. However I can't help wondering how many scoliosis ops could of been funded with the money spent on security.

Alicatz66 · 12/10/2018 13:37

YANBU ... I don't give a shit either ! .. I didn't know about it till now !

BitchQueen90 · 12/10/2018 13:38

@Neshoma

We should also be ensuring the safety of the general public and the government are not doing that what with all the police cuts and similar that are happening. Eugenie's family can easily afford to pay for their own security and it's disgusting that the public are expected to do so when money is not even being spent adequately on OUR safety.

LaurieMarlow · 12/10/2018 13:49

Eugenie does't perform many ANY public duties, but equally doesn't receive any money from the public purse.

Corrected that for you.

She may not officially get money from the public purse, but it's hardly the case that her junior level job in an art gallery funds her lavish holidays, designer lifestyle and accommodation in one of the royal palaces (can't remember which).

She's being subsidised by Andrew/The Queen to a huge degree, which begs the question why we have granted them such a generous sovereign grant that they can afford to subsidise so many hangers on?

Eugenie should be living a more modest life and we should be renegotiating how much public money is given to the royals.

fanfan18 · 12/10/2018 13:52

and more importantly why does the tax payer have to pick up the bill for security etc?

I wish people would stop with this. Have you been invoiced directly?

The Crown Estates income is absolutely huge and doesn't rely on taxpayers to pay for things like this. I'm more pissed off that I personally pay £70 to be in the EU!

Sunnyday1203 · 12/10/2018 13:58

Ha ha I did not even know she was getting married today. Seems I am in my own little world

LaurieMarlow · 12/10/2018 13:58

The Crown Estates income is absolutely huge...

And doesn't legally belong to the Windsor family. It is public money.

If we gave them less of it we'd have more to spend on other stuff. Duh.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 12/10/2018 13:59

“The royal family are workshy and sponge off of the tax paid by the hardworking”

I think for a woman in her 90s, the queen has been a bloody hard work ambassador for our country all her adult life. As have many of the other senior royals.

Eugenie is as much a grandchild of the queen as William and Harry, so why shouldn’t she get the wedding she wants.

I don’t begrudge paying a few pence in tax towards it.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 12/10/2018 14:08

She earns, she has certain entitlements as a princess- and she is the born princess to marry in ages, which is of interest to the press- and I think her wedding was lovely. Nicer than Harry & Megs and Wills & Kates! It was nice to watch and there are plenty of rich people out there who have earned their wad off the back of others in much worse ways and have had far more vulgar weddings. I'm pleased for her and can't be bothered to get my knickers in a twist beyond that.

ButchyRestingFace · 12/10/2018 14:11

@Rosehip10

Well, she picked a lovely day for it. 😎😎😎

TheOxymoron · 12/10/2018 14:12

I thought she looked lovely. Fab dress! Smile

Nanny0gg · 12/10/2018 14:18

I thought she looked lovely. Fab dress!

Absolutely

fanfan18 · 12/10/2018 14:28

If we gave them less of it we'd have more to spend on other stuff. Duh.

Do you genuinely believe that even if we could make the Monarch and everything that goes with it disappear tomorrow that public services, healthcare, education, homelessness would all get given the funding. They wouldn't.

On my actual tax summary for the year they took £70 (from me, 1 person) to pay towards the EU membership. The royal family costs each person something like 79p a year.

BrightonGallery7 · 12/10/2018 14:32

Eugenie looked exceptional. Wow. That was a beautiful and solemn and perfect wedding. She looked like a real princess.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 12/10/2018 14:37

That's because she is a "real" princess. Wink

Ghanagirl · 12/10/2018 14:40

I love all the dogwhistling “real princess” crap.

thisneverendingsummer · 12/10/2018 14:42

YAWN...

thisneverendingsummer · 12/10/2018 14:42

You don't care, yet you felt the need to start a thread about it?

Pathetic.
