To ask what weird smells other people like?

My fella thinks I'm weird because I like to go in the garden and smell the damp wood on the shed.
If we are in the petrol station I open my passenger door and inhale as deep as I can which he says is embarrassing because I do it so obviously.
I love the smell of the pink stuff that car bumpers are patched up with aswell.
Also dogs when they've been in the rain.

Don't know how he can talk and say I'm a freak when he sits and enjoys the smell of his own farts.

Anyone else like weird smells that other people would find strange or just me?

My male rats fur.
I just love to bury my nose in it & inhale deeply.

chapthedoor · 11/10/2018 15:55

My favourite smell is my dog when he's been asleep. I love it ❤️

StompyDino · 11/10/2018 16:00

New pencil cases and the orange gooey stuff used to repair holes in car bodywork (dad was a mechanic!)

Mightybanhammer · 11/10/2018 16:01

@pinkmagic - absolutely. Love the smell of horse. And hayGrin

EarlyModernParent · 11/10/2018 16:27

New handbags-actually, new leather in all its forms;
Hot cotton-clothes being ironed or just out of the dryer;
Toner cartridges;
Palm oil (the orange one);
The weird 'dust-oil-pee-train brakes-French people' smell of the Paris Metro;
TCP.

Ploppymoodypants · 11/10/2018 16:27

Oh yes pretty much anything hose related
Horse
Hay
Saddle soap
Tack rooms
Grass
Loads of their feed and supplements smell amazing too
Even their poo is not that bad (as far as poo goes 😁)

Poshjock · 11/10/2018 16:51

I'm so glad other people have said dog paws. My boy lies on his back next to me and I sit and watch telly stroking and smelling his back paw. I love the smell of his ears too - and stroking them across my cheek. The milky puppy smell is amazing.

Yes to rain - and that smell you get first thing in the morning, dewy grass. Reminds me of family camping holidays.

Love bleach/chlorine, germoline, vicks vaporub & sudocrem. And clove oil - that smells like dental surgeries of old!

Wood fires too - the sound of them is nice and relaxing.

The seaside of course. Again the smell and sound together is amazing.

TheFluffyHippo · 11/10/2018 16:54

Chlorine is my favourite ever smell. I could happily just go and sit next to a swimming pool just inhaling the smell.

I really miss how pubs used to smell. That mix of stale smoke and beer. There was always something homely about it. I’ve never smoked and I don’t drink but I did love that smell

Poshjock · 11/10/2018 16:55

@gettofuckthrees "We have a roll of disposable tourniquets in work. They are blue rubber and smell like heaven."

Yes! It's the powder they use to stop the rubber sticking to itself, kinda flowery/fruity/rubbery smell. It's devine!

This is the brand we use: www.medisave.co.uk/latex-free-single-use-tourniquet-pack-of-25.html

UpstartCrow · 11/10/2018 16:58

Old Ddog had paws that smelled of sweaty dog feet and popcorn.
Sweaty horses and just cleaned tack.
Surgical spirits still in the bottle.
Methylated spirits.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/10/2018 17:07

Polythene bags
Matches (the traditional type, not the safety ones)
Candle smoke after they've just been blown out
Sawn wood
Rain on the garden after it's been dry

Amazed so many like the smell of petrol, though - I'm not easily made nauseous but that does it every time

EarlyModernParent · 11/10/2018 17:08

Another one: coal. Especially as it sits all damp in the coal hole.

Purpleartichoke · 11/10/2018 17:08

Vinegar

RavenLG · 11/10/2018 17:10

I love to sniff my guinea pigs. They smell of warm hay, and well...just warm cuddly piggie.
This, it's the best antidepressant I've ever had!

As bad as it is that rubbery plastic smell (think new arm bands / inflatable stuff)

Bleach

newrubylane · 11/10/2018 17:13

Probably not allowed food but celeriac

I buy it just to smell it. The taste is average - the smell is just intoxicating though!

Runningishard · 11/10/2018 19:42

No to candle smoke! Makes me think of the years I was forced to go to church!

RhubarbAndCustards · 11/10/2018 19:44

My dog’s feet! When he lies on the sofa on his back and he shoved a foot in my face. I happily sniff his paws. My husband thinks I’m weird Hmm

Quizeerascal · 11/10/2018 19:49

Playdough
The smell of birthday candles just after they've been blown out
