I'm on the ball today, made a potato hash which is ready to be heated once the girls are home from school. My stomachs already rumbling for it lol.

What's on your menu for today?

Stewed beef with onion and mushrooms in gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and Yorkshire puddings

Nquartz · 08/10/2018 14:17

Mum try Spicentice spice mixes, I use them loads because most of them don't have salt or sugar, the tikka masala & korma ones are yummy

mumof2sarah · 08/10/2018 14:19

@AmIRightOrAMeringue good luck lovely, I love cooking from fresh but prawns scare the life out of me lol enjoy xx

@Villainelle apart from the mushrooms that sounds amazing xx

@Nquartz I've followed spice'n'tice on Insta for so long and keep changing my mind about ordering but I'm going to bite the bullet and get a few things to try xx

Beef and winter vegetable pie. Slow cooked lean beef that's been precooked in a rich gravy with a mix of carrot, onion, leek, swede and mushroom, all wrapped up in homemade shortcrust pastry. Maybe with a dollop of creamy mash and a caramelised onion gravy.

mumof2sarah · 08/10/2018 14:20

@SaltyPeanut that sounds completely amazing that I hope you enjoy it xx

Hassleback potato with roast garlicky veg and a spinach and [vegan] cream cheese thing I haven't quite figured out yet but it's going to be YUM :)

Pretamum · 08/10/2018 14:22

Spaghetti bolognese - not particularly exciting but a big fave of DS, and a fave of mine too.

wink1970 · 08/10/2018 14:26

Either Cataplana (a Portuguese fish/seafood stew) or Bouillabaisse (similar, but French). DH hates both so is having chicken curry of some sort.

2000lightyearsaway · 08/10/2018 14:28

Either spaghetti Bolognese or bolognese bake. Not sure yet 😊

wink1970 · 08/10/2018 14:29

@Pretamum mine too. I am going to batch cook some tonight and freeze in portions. I'm using my local Italian restaurant's recipe, which is lighter and involves white wine not red, and 50/50 pork /beef or veal /beef (the former as Sainsburys delivered earlier and subbed the veal for pork).

THEsonofaBITCH · 08/10/2018 14:29

My night to cook for the family so guy special - steaks on the grill, mashed potatoes, salad and nice bottle of red wine for mom and dad.

ComeOnGordon · 08/10/2018 14:29

One DC is having the leftovers from last nights toad in the hole and the rest of us are having butternut squash, chili and ginger soup

Muggins123 · 08/10/2018 14:32

I made a bolognese type sauce with chicken mince then added macaroni pasta and bunged it all in the oven with melted cheese on the top

Namechange170518 · 08/10/2018 14:34

Leftover Quorn lasagne

Ffiffime · 08/10/2018 14:35

I’ve made a quiche 😊

MaluCachu · 08/10/2018 14:43

Bangers, mash, peas, mashed carrots in a home made giant Yorkshire pud with onion gravy

jarhead123 · 08/10/2018 14:46

Shredded BBQ chicken with rice and lots of roasted veg

Xiaoxiong · 08/10/2018 14:49

Another one making beef stew! The one from Nigella How to Eat (with the secret delicious anchovies). I made it yesterday and it's been percolating in the fridge all night... gorgeous!!

But what to have with it!? What do you all like with beef stew? I like buttered noodles and cabbage but DH thinks I'm weird.

Itsmenotyouisntit · 08/10/2018 14:50

Beef stew that's been cooking in the slow cooker since 10am, having it with mash potatos and turnip (not mashed together) with Brussel sprouts and green beans.
Can't wait!
I may have been stealing pieces of beef out of the stew already.. Blush

mumof2sarah · 08/10/2018 14:56

Quite a few having beef stew tonight that's been added to my menu for next week I think. I'm not a fan of bolognaise (another thing lol) but the rest of the family eat it so can guarentee that'll be added at some point in the next cpl of weeks. Hope you all enjoy your meals xx

I'm a lifelong vegetarian so I've never actually eaten it, but there's something very autumnal about beef stew :)

MaMisled · 08/10/2018 15:08

Caribbean pork steaks from Asda with roasted garlic, peppers, onion, cauliflower, mushrooms, butternut squash, courgette, aubergine, sweet potato and plum tomatoes.

Tiredofit · 08/10/2018 15:10
