Is this acceptable or should I do time for murder?

Been at work all day and OH has been home.
I usually cook but he asked if I wanted a jacket spud. To which I replied "yes please."

He shouts in..
Do you want mayo? Yes
Do you want cheese? Yes

5 minutes later he handed it to me.
Jacket spud with a tin of tuna slapped on top, and I mean straight from the tin, still the shape of the tin. A few sprinklings of cheese on top and mayo squirted on top. The worst bit is there was no butter on my spud at all!

I was speechless!
He doesn't cook so didn't want to hurt his feelings, but surely this form of spud is a known abomination Grin

Right, so if you had to do the washing, would you cock it up because it’s not your ‘usual job’?

This.

I know it’s light hearted but I find this kind of ineptitude cringeworthy and not particularly funny. My 9 and 12 year old sons would be able to make up a tuna mayo baked potato filling with ease. It’s not rocket science.

Pissedoffdotcom · 01/10/2018 17:59

Hey at least he took it out of the tin...i detest tuna so you'd have got jacket, cheese, butter & mayo with a side of still tinned tuna with a tin opener 😂

PodgeBod · 01/10/2018 17:59

Well I laughed op, sorry your lighthearted thread has gone as badly as your dinner!

April2020mom · 01/10/2018 17:59

Get hold of a cookbook for Christmas. Have him try out a recipe. Just be careful here you don’t want to offend him for no reason. Offer advice however.

GallicosCats · 01/10/2018 17:59

I think the right response to this is, next time he wants a cup of coffee, you present him with a mug, a spoonful of Nescafe or similar, a mini bowl/ramekin of sugar, a small jug of milk and a kettle of water, all arranged carefully on a wanky slate or marble board. Then tell him it's a deconstructed cuppa.

Pissedoffdotcom · 01/10/2018 18:00

deconstructed coffee 😂😂😂

Tantruminateacup · 01/10/2018 18:00

Oh dear OP looks like the lighthearted fun police are out In force today. How very dare you joke about something so serious some people would give anything for a shitty spud right now!. I think you should leave him immediately so your children are not exposed to this vile behaviour.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/10/2018 18:02

Why do some of you think this is acceptable or funny? I genuinely don't get it.

It's no wonder some men are so useless and expect their wives to do everything.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 01/10/2018 18:03

Oh my god some of you really need to pull the stick out your arse! It was light hearted. Her dh prepared a jacket potato in a different way to her, I’m sure he’s a perfectly capable adult. It’s a funny anecdote. My dh made me a boiled egg with triangle toast, it’s funny because it’s an unusual way of doing it. Not because it was wrong or he’s trying to prove himself inept.

Jesus wept.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 01/10/2018 18:03

Not everything needs to be dissected and deeply analysed.

AngloSaxonEarthenware · 01/10/2018 18:03

It wasn't a microwave jacket spud was it??! Please say he at least cooked it in the oven Grin

Padparadscha · 01/10/2018 18:03

Why do some of you think this is acceptable or funny?

I’d also like an explanation of why it’s funny. Genuinely, I don’t get why it’s funny rather than rude and utterly baffling behaviour from a supposed adult

Pissedoffdotcom · 01/10/2018 18:05

DP doesnt expect me to do everything. But he does things differently to me & some times i want to muller him for it. Doesnt mean he's useless or i'm downtrodden ffs. Lighten up

Padparadscha · 01/10/2018 18:05

My dh made me a boiled egg with triangle toast, it’s funny because it’s an unusual way of doing it.

But it wasn’t an ‘unusual way of doing it’. He didn’t do anything bar cook a potato!

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 01/10/2018 18:05

If you need an explanation of why it’s funny...perhaps it’s time to move along and tear someone else’s lighthearted post to bits.

diddl · 01/10/2018 18:06

"It's no wonder some men are so useless and expect their wives to do everything."

Tbf, reading this, seems like some women are more than happy to keep their men useless!

JakeBallardswife · 01/10/2018 18:09

DH rarely cooks, but when he does, he follows a recipe exactly and it always turns out brilliantly. However, I totally get the previous poster who mentioned every pan, utensil, baking tray being used!

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 01/10/2018 18:09

And add butter, tuna and mayo. If my dh made me a jacket potato with chill and cheese (just for example) and he didn’t mash the potato then add chilli or whatever I wouldn’t then bang on about how he’s doing it wrong on purpose because I do everything and he’s being useless to make me go do it blah blah blah...I’d say “oi you daft twat, you know I prefer it X way” and he’d probably say “oh god sorry, I forgot, I’ll remember next time”. It wouldn’t be a dissection of the whole thing. It’d be a light hearted conversation and a funny anecdote.

God, it must be a laugh a minute in your house.

Pissedoffdotcom · 01/10/2018 18:13

Apparently only gourmet meals are acceptable in some households. I feel sorry for my dp & dc who get bog standard dinners 😂

PassMeTheHaribosAmego · 01/10/2018 18:14

The OP thought she would share something she found funny , why be so nasty ?

Scatteredthoughtss · 01/10/2018 18:15

I think you are all missing the point.

Tuna mayo is a disgusting option for a baked potato.

Cheddar all the way!

PodgeBod · 01/10/2018 18:16

What's so baffling? Some people are crummy cooks. I could well imagine my mum serving this meal. She just doesn't care much for food or cooking.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 01/10/2018 18:16

@ScatteredThoughts that is very true. But my god, what if he puts the cheese on first?! Shall we burn him at the stake for crimes against feminism?!

Pissedoffdotcom · 01/10/2018 18:17

Putting cheese on first most definitely warrants burning at the stake...

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/10/2018 18:19

Butter
Beans
Cheese

That is all 🥔🧀
