I am a remainer, but people campaigning for a second Referendum are wasting their time. It is not going to happen.

No a second referendum won't happen. The people voted to leave. That's it. No second chance. That's exactly how democracy works... People vote and the majority wins*

TheMonkeyMummy
@FinnegansWhiskers no it isn't. That vote was relevant for that period of time. That doesn't make that decision final, forever. That's crackers!

Have I read your post wrong Monkey? Apologies if I have... 🤷

Lalliella · 24/09/2018 00:46

we can always rejoin the EU

No we can’t. All 27 countries would have to agree to us rejoining and that’s hardly likely to happen.

But people don’t know what they were voting for. When the final deal is known or, more likely, when it’s announced that there’s no deal, people will have a much better idea of what they’re voting for, so it would be democratic to have a new referendum based on the up-to-date information. If the right answer is to leave then Leave will win again surely. What are leavers scared of? That people will see the light and this won’t happen?

TheSageofOnions · 24/09/2018 00:46

I don't say it will be easy, and it may not happen for years, but I think in the long term re-admission is a far more likely prospect than remainers somehow stopping brexit or getting a 2nd referendum.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 00:47

A second referendum might happen. I pray that it will. But the problem is that all the stupid people who voted leave in in the first place are too fucking stupid to realise or admit that they fucked up royally in the first place.

TheSageofOnions · 24/09/2018 00:49

Why wouldn't all 27 countries agree? If the EU did not want to allow countries to leave, why did it include article 50 in the Lisbon Treaty in the first place?

A second referendum won't happen. Nor should it. We live in a democracy. Did you vote to join the EU? 🤔

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 00:52

If this goes ahead, we are fucked, big thanks to all the aresoles that voted leave.......wankers

Lalliella · 24/09/2018 00:53

Is that question to me when I said all 27 would have to agree to us rejoining? That wouldn’t happen because we’ve proved ourselves to be a right PITA. They aren’t going to want us back after this. Leaving is final, it’s not something we can go back on. Invoking Article 50 however is a different matter, we have until 29 March next year to go back on that, and I’m praying that we will.

FinnegansWhiskers · 24/09/2018 00:54

Ain't nothing... You could always move to an EU country if you want. Best make it quick...

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 00:55

Our only hope now is that this whole sorry mess can be stopped. You really don’t see what you’ve done do you?

Lalliella · 24/09/2018 00:56

No, I didn’t vote to join, but I would’ve if I’d had the opportunity. Of course a second referendum is democratic, by its very definition. What are you scared of? Losing?

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 00:59

Stupid, stupid stupid anyone who voted leave is clearly an absolute idiot. Thank you , you total arsepieces for damning my kids for the next 30 years.

FinnegansWhiskers · 24/09/2018 01:00

Nobody voted to join the EU. There was a democratic vote to remain or leave. The majority voted to leave. What's your point?

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 01:06

Majority ? Did you do maths at school? 52% to 49% that’s hardly a bloody majority!
Seriously do any of you stupid people realise what you’ve done?!?
No you don’t!

FinnegansWhiskers · 24/09/2018 01:10

Grin Enough said!

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 01:13

Finnegan you are clearly taking the piss

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 01:17

I really hope that everyone who voted leave is going to have a lovely fluffy life.
I really can’t express my anger and frustration at your ridiculous stupidity.
Half of you have shot yourselves in the foot(business wise) you really are that fucking thick.
Cheers

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 01:27

Twats

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 24/09/2018 01:52

Well, I see all the brexiters have gone to bed. Sleep well. The storm is coming. The sad bit is that you can’t actually see what you’ve done. You are really very stupid indeed. Goodnight and sleep well

Topseyt · 24/09/2018 02:13

I don't think a second referendum will happen. The first was a disaster and it has been an utter farce ever since.

Personally, I think we should revoke Article 50 and stay in.

notangelinajolie · 24/09/2018 02:19

YANBU. Absolutely 100 percent certain that there will not be another referendum. Brexit is going to happen.

notangelinajolie · 24/09/2018 02:22

Finnegan why couldn't you vote?

notangelinajolie · 24/09/2018 02:24

Ignore above post.

Lalliella why couldn't you vote?

OkPedro · 24/09/2018 02:34

I'm not from the uk so didn't follow the lead up to the brexit referendum
What led the uk to holding a leave or stay ref?

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/09/2018 02:36

The people voted to leave. That's it. No second chance. That's exactly how democracy works... People vote and the majority wins.

That's not actually 'how democracy works'.

It is sensible for constitutional change to require a supermajority (2/3 majority for example) as an acknowledgement of the long lasting effects of such change. If DC hadn't been such an arrogant piece of shit, he would have suggested that. Or everyone could have accepted that making such an enormous, unprecedented move on such a tiny majority in a non-binding referendum, was utterly stupid.

But the country is run by wankers, self-serving arseholes and millionaires.
