To ask how much you enjoy your job on a 1-10 scale?

I was having a conversation with a work-hating friend recently and she claimed that very few people actually enjoy their job more than 2/10 (so they're mostly just doing it for the money) and that it's not realistic to search for a job you love.

I found this to be such a sad idea as I enjoy my job (teaching) a lot, at at least 8/10, and I think everyone should be able to find a job that they mostly enjoy if they look hard enough.

So how much do you enjoy your job on a scale of 1-10 and what do you think about people who just "work to live"?

About an 8 or 9 depending on what's going on. Sometimes a bit lower.

I'd regard 2 as absolutely hating it and feeling sick with stress. I'd quit if it got that bad. I appreciate not everyone can do that though and are sadly stuck in jobs they hate.

Probably 6. I dislike my current job but used to love working at a different place.

My husband is a 8. I'm jealous.

Also a teacher (chemistry) and I'm prob an 8 or a 9

An 8 or 9. I love my job.

I've had others that would have been a 2 or 3 so I really appreciate this one.

12 and a half. I have an awesome job.

8 I think and I do still consider it just working to live. if i wasnt enjoying it i would drop it and find something else to do.

I'd say 8 - I've never got to 2/10 - Time to change jobs at that point surely!!

Between 5 and 9 depending on the day.

Some hours are a 4, but no whole day is a 4, there's always something that moves it up a bit.

I'd consider a 4 "working to live"

I agree with @TangelasVine on how I think of the scale - I wouldn't call a 2 "not enjoying your job", I'd call a 2 "having a horrible time".

The job is frustrating

I’m a special school teacher and on a good day I’d say 9/10. On a very bad day maybe that would go down to 6/10 but for the most part I love my job.

My workplace is best described as ‘dynamic’ so veers between a 2 and 10 several times a day! I love it and hate it in equal measures.

Probably 8- big company, great reward/benefits, great boss, lovely teammates (would consider them friends).

About 6. It's got plenty of advantages but I don't love it.

About an 8?

I’ve had this job for 7 years and I’ve had literally only about 3 occasions where I’ve seriously had the “oh god, I really really don’t want to go to work tomorrow” feeling.

It can be tiring, stressful, emotional, frustrating etc. But it’s also rewarding, challenging and interesting.

Mines about 5/10.

Somewhere between 8 and 10 (depending on the day). I love my job most of the time. If money was no object I’d drop to PT and try and drop the dull bits though.

About 7 I would say

I don't dread going to work and really enjoy some aspects of my work but much prefer my days off!

I definitely work to live rather than live to work but my job is reasonably fulfilling and makes me feel like I am contributing to society

I love my job. When playing “when I win the lottery” I often say I’d carry on working in my current job - maybe just a few more holidays!
