AIBU to say I'm a menstruating woman not a menstruating person?

Why the language change? I know it's all about being trans-inclusive. But is it really trans-exclusive if Lunette had said menstruating woman or girl?

How are you defining trans women?

lynmilne65 · 19/09/2018 17:07

Really??

BrownPaperTeddy · 19/09/2018 17:07

Well both men and women buy condoms anyway don't they? So condoms don't need to be marketed at just one sex. Gay and lesbian people use them too, so they aren't just marketed for men.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/09/2018 17:08

It’s weird that you freely use the phrases men and women but you can’t or won’t define what you mean.

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/09/2018 17:09

I’m fairly sure lesbian women don’t use durex.

Well if they practice safe sex they should. STIs can be passed on via sex toys so they should use a condom if they are sharing them.

TerfsUp · 19/09/2018 17:12

You know, there are days when I can't tell if someone is being deliberately disingenuous or if they're just stupid.

WhoWants2Know · 19/09/2018 17:13

I'm trying to work out what lesbians use Durex for.

Obviously both sexes are capable of purchasing both sanitary products or condoms. But each is designed to be worn by a member of a particular sex.

Is that aimed at me?

So in my post above, referring to men and women buying condoms, I mean anyone who identifies as a man or a woman.

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/09/2018 17:15

Peaked again. Good grief.

WhoWants2Know · 19/09/2018 17:15

Ahhh, sex toys. I see.

BrownPaperTeddy · 19/09/2018 17:15

Are you all saying that lesbian women don't need to use condoms on shared sex toys?

That certainly was the advice when I worked in sexual health in the 90s. Maybe it has changed now but I can't see why it would.

WhoWants2Know · 19/09/2018 17:17

Personally I'm not inclined to share sex toys, but if I were than it would be as effective and less wasteful to wash them.

CiderBrains · 19/09/2018 17:20

Ohholyjesus yes they can have the menopause too!

Or is it "a person going through the menopause " now because apparently by miracle it's not just woman who go through that too? Hmm

BrownPaperTeddy · 19/09/2018 17:22

Not being a lesbian myself I don't know the definitive answer here but I would imagine "the moment" might be slightly disrupted by having to nip downstairs to break out the fairy liquid and the rubber gloves?

It doesn't matter in any case. My point was simply that condoms can be bought and used by people of both sexes and all sexual orientation. That's it.

CiderBrains · 19/09/2018 17:31

Sex toys are cleaned after use and if stored away don't need washing again as "the moment " presents itself. You can also buy wipes to clean sex toys which can be stored in your bedside cabinet.

No need to be dashing downstairs for fairy liquid! Grin

BrownPaperTeddy · 19/09/2018 17:42

Once you've finished using them fine. But during? If you are swapping backwards and forwards during sex how do you prevent spread of infection?

As I say I'm basing this on advice we gave in the 90s so it might be out of date now but STIs are still prevalent so I suppose you do need to take precautions still.
