They just are. Have these guys ever done anything wrong? Anything less than brilliant? Righteous searingly articulate rock with feeling. I love them. All of them.

OP posts:

They are my favourite band ever! My brother is a big fan too and we've been to see them a lot of times together over the last twenty years or so. Great live band.

explodingid · 14/09/2018 20:34

No sorry the Pixies.

LanguageAsAFlower · 14/09/2018 20:41

YANBU. Best band ever.
They defined my teenage years and I wouldn't have had such a great time or rad half as many mildly depressing books if it hadn't been for them. Plus I met James once when I was 19 and he was delightfully polite.

LanguageAsAFlower · 14/09/2018 20:42

Urgh *read not rad. Bad English teacher.

Jellykat · 14/09/2018 20:44

They're a decent band and i like the new single, BUT Foo Fighters are the best band in the world i'm afraid...

NotACleverName · 14/09/2018 20:49

YABVU because it's Depeche Mode.

The Manics are bland, beige nonsense for people who don't really like rock/alternative music.

GuntyMcGee · 14/09/2018 20:49

Nah, it's the next valley over and the Stereophonics for me.
The Manics just don't do it for me at all.

My FIL comes from the Manics' home town.

BlueEyedBengal · 14/09/2018 20:54

Yes one of the greatest and I got to say that with me being WelshGrin. But I do like feeder and red hot chilli peppers depending on my mood. Oh and linkin Park legend.

ShannonRockallMalin · 14/09/2018 21:03

I think you’ll find the best band is (was) the White Stripes.

Manics are ok but I find them a bit humourless. Also, the only time I ever saw them live I had a terrible IBS flare up and spent most of the gig in the loo.

MistyMeena · 14/09/2018 21:33

Urgh, I think they're awful. Instant radio switch off for me too.

But I do love The Jam so I'm with you on that one, OP.

HippyChickMama · 14/09/2018 22:08

Nothing beige about Repeat or You Love Us.

RedDwarves · 14/09/2018 22:13

No, indeed, the Manics unlike Zep and Floyd never noodled on endlessly and boringly. This is a massive point in favour of my argument.

... Led Zep disbanded in 1980 and never got back together. 11 years. Not exactly "noodling on".

RedDwarves · 14/09/2018 22:14

Ah, I suspect you mean individual songs. Meh, they're masterpieces. It takes a lot to be able to write a 10 minute song and have it be engaging from 0:01 to 10:00. The Doors were exceptional at that, too.

brimfullofasha · 14/09/2018 22:15

Love the Manics. They made a lost teenager feel like she had somewhere to belong. Not so much of a fan of their post-90s stuff but nothing will take away the power of their early stuff. Love Everything Must Go and everything that came before.

welshcake82 · 14/09/2018 22:54

You ADDNBU! I can't believe there's so many manics fans on here. Best gigs of my life especially Albert Hall Manchester for the Holy Bible tour 2014.

AWomanNamedSpartacus · 14/09/2018 22:55

YANBU

Nicky Wire Wink

There is no need to say more.

dontbesillyhenry · 14/09/2018 22:59

Yes!!!! YADNBU

AlliKaneErikson · 14/09/2018 23:56

Ah, a good old Blackwood boy, Gunty! (*its a good Valley, this one!).

Auldspinster · 15/09/2018 01:28

I remember reading about them in the Melody Maker circa 1990 in their initial comedy Welsh Clash phase. They're a band I admire more than like. James Dean Bradfield seems like a good bloke but Nicky Wire comes across as a twat.

Saw Muse at T in the Park in 2004, competent but left me unmoved.

Fugazi are the best band I've ever seen by a mile but Radiohead, Girls Against Boys, Pavement and Sonic Youth were also excellent. Girls Against Boys had the added bonus of being 4 of the handsomest men ever to make music😍.

Jeanclaudejackety · 15/09/2018 01:38

Boring dad music

FloofyDoof · 15/09/2018 01:45

They're very bland.

GySgtHartman · 15/09/2018 02:04

I mean after Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC SOAD, RHCP, Slipknot Sepultura, Soulfly, Machinead.............

Other bands are available

NatureIs · 15/09/2018 03:17

YANBU first band I got into, well them and The Prodigy circa 1992, makes me feel old!

PrincessWire · 15/09/2018 10:58

How tf is this bland or dad music?

Design for Life was playing when I lost my virginity Blush
