They just are. Have these guys ever done anything wrong? Anything less than brilliant? Righteous searingly articulate rock with feeling. I love them. All of them.

OP posts:
peachgreen · 14/09/2018 10:10

They are wonderful. Not my faves (not sure anyone will ever top Radiohead although Low are very close... and Elbow... and Divine Comedy...) but they're still fantastic.

DoctorTwo · 14/09/2018 10:27

Just three words OP...

FAITH NO MORE

ShowOfHands · 14/09/2018 10:34

DH and I often joke that we'd never knowingly be friends with a Manics fan. They're so beige.

Funny how we're all so different.

Tubbyinthehottub · 14/09/2018 10:45

I have to switch off if that Tolerate song comes on.

TiredPony · 14/09/2018 10:51

La Tristesse Durera is my favourite song EVER.

JustDanceAddict · 14/09/2018 12:25

Saw them in mid/late 90s at a festival thingy in London. No idea what era that was, but they were good. Had a couple of their cds.

chezbot · 14/09/2018 12:32

Introduced my 13yo DD to The Holy Bible this week having not heard it for years. Had forgotten just how magnificent it is.

HippyChickMama · 14/09/2018 19:12

I love the Manics! Generation Terrorists and Gold Against the Soul are their best albums. I regret not seeing them earlier while Richey was still around, I didn't see them until 96 (Phoenix Festival anyone?). My favourite song isn't a popular choice, Life Becoming a Landslide, but I love it and James looks hot in the video

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/09/2018 19:15

Life Becoming a Landslide is one of my favourites. Little Baby Nothing will always be my favourite though. An unrecognised feminist anthem!

Governoress86 · 14/09/2018 19:31

YABVU.......take that are the best band in the world.

However I am partial to a bit of Rammstein

Strippervicar · 14/09/2018 19:34

Former james dean bradfirld appreciation society member signing in. All time fave band.

A580Hojas · 14/09/2018 19:35

Very fond of Manic Street Preachers but The Specials are the best band in the world.

Thelastredwinegum · 14/09/2018 19:42

No Surface All Feeling
La Tristese Durera (sp?)
Faster
Revol

Some of my all time favourite songs.

A town called malice is another.

PrincessWire · 14/09/2018 19:44

I also saw the Holy Bible show in Mcr and I cried it was so wonderful and intense!

MSP fans are beige, really? We're all glitter and eyeliner and leopard print and tiaras - we're a long way from beige!

PrincessWire · 14/09/2018 19:47

And nobody can call this man beige!

The Manic Street Preachers are the best band in the world.
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/09/2018 19:51

Yes. So much yes. Apart from Queen, who they tie with.

ProfessorMoody · 14/09/2018 20:06

I don't understand how anyone can call them beige either. Have you seen Nicky Wire? Have you read about their history as a band? Have you actually looked at any of their earlier lyrics? I can't think of anything less beige.

FunkyBoldRibenas · 14/09/2018 20:06

I also saw the Holy Bible show in Mcr and I cried it was so wonderful and intense!

i wish I could do it all over again.

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/09/2018 20:10

Sean Moore is not beige! I became a (very bad) drummer because of him!

Nicky calling James “rebel without a clue” when Melody Maker tried to label him a rebel without a cause still cracks me up laughing 20 odd years later! Anyone remember the interview? In the lobby of a posh Japanese hotel?

Thelastredwinegum · 14/09/2018 20:14

TIMTTMY is 20 years old today 😫

Welshgirlbach · 14/09/2018 20:14

Love the Manics BUT THE KINKS ARE THE BEST FULL STOP

Noqont · 14/09/2018 20:15

They're not the best, but I do love them.

XiCi · 14/09/2018 20:20

Saw them in 1990 at my student union, they could barely play their instruments, were really shit to the point they started getting heckled and bood by the crowd. Richey got pissed off and jumped into the crowd punching out at everyone wildly Grin fun times

clrobson86 · 14/09/2018 20:28

The Everlasting is an amazing song!

Igottastartthinkingbee · 14/09/2018 20:31

The early albums were the best. Gold against the soul was played over and over by teenage me on my cassette player! And the Holy Bible, wow!! Had to play that unfortunately quietly so my parents didn’t hear! Manics were a big part of my teenage years.

But I have to say Muse are the most incredible live band I’ve ever seen. Matt Bellamy is a rock god!!!!!!
