Parents doing all this in after swim class showers?

Whirlwindheadache · 13/09/2018 20:56

OK,today after ds swim class the showers were crammed. As usual. Tbh I usually wait til we get home and do a proper shower/ bath. however today I thought I'd quickly shower him to save me doing it later. There were children in there with parents stood outside loaded with shampoos...conditioners ( telling them to leave it on at least 2minutes) body washes...rinsing and generally taking their time despite huge queues of dripping children and parents waiting for their turn..

They are thick as shit. Thats the bloody problem. Entitled arseholes.

Xmasbaby11 · 13/09/2018 21:17

Yanbu we have similar issue at our pool. At least 12 people trying to use 2 slow showers. Even if people wash hair quickly it's still a long cold wait! We wait til we get home.

LemonBreeland · 13/09/2018 21:17

YANBU this is my biggest bugbear of swimming lessons. I want to give my DC a quick rinse to warm them up and will wash them properly at home. There are 32 children at a lesson time and 8 showers. The people who fully wash their DC while others stand shivering are utterly selfish.

Troels · 13/09/2018 21:18

We never used the showers at the pool, can't be bothered., clothes get wet/lost, things get left behind So my kids got swimsuits on at home then after they put on their Uggs, a thick hoodie and sweatpants over the swimsuit and home into a nice hot shower worked for us, then into pajamas.

WindDoesNotBreakTheBendyTree · 13/09/2018 21:26

YANBU - if there is a queue it's rude as fuck
A cursory rinse and a proper shower at home , or they should wait until everyone else has finished.

theymademejoin · 13/09/2018 21:26

@Chwaraeteg - However, do you people who wash your body before washing out your conditioner not find that you get terrible acne on your arse from doing so?

No. Why would you get acne, particularly on your arse?

AlexanderHamilton · 13/09/2018 21:29

Dd had excema so had to use products on her skin before swimming. Never used conditioner. It makes both hers & mine heD itch.

serbska · 13/09/2018 21:29

I wash and condition my hair after a swim. Fuck am I going to waste time double showering and changing and drying.

Sickoffamilydrama · 13/09/2018 21:31

YABU in that everyone has different needs my 2 have curly hair they look like this after a swim so there is no way I could take them home and let the tangled mess dry I'd end up having to shave their heads...which may save time and the cost of conditioner Wink
But I get what you are saying about hogging the showers when mine have conditioner in their hair and we are detangling it they step out of the shower and let someone else in.

Ellie I have thick hair which goes to just below my bum, it doesn't even take me 10 minutes to wash and condition it!

garethsouthgatesmrs · 13/09/2018 21:34

Easynow people who use the term thick as shit are thick as shit

Miladymilord · 13/09/2018 21:35

It doesn't take 10 minutes to wash your dds hair. You are being silly.

By all means have a shower wash and condition your hair but bear in mind people are waiting so be quick. Boots swim and gym shampoo and body wash does hair and body. Takes dd about 3 minutes.

StrawberrySquash · 13/09/2018 21:39

Are these individual cubicals or a set of open showers? When I used to do swimming sessions we only had three ladies' but they were not in cubicals so you would all swap round depending on whether you were applying a product or washing it off, which made things much quicker.

Wheresthel1ght · 13/09/2018 21:39

Yabu.

Dd has chronic atopic eczema. If she doesn't fully shower and wash within the first few minutes of getting out the pool she becomes a hive covered, blistered & bleeding mess. If the chlorine dries on her skin she will literally scratch her skin off.

I don't care if it pisses you off, keeping her skin safe is my only priority.

arethereanyleftatall · 13/09/2018 21:39

All this is compounded by the number of males over 8 in the female change, when the showers in the men's are empty. I'll wager some people responding here getting cross with waiting in the queue, are waiting with their 8+ yr old son.

JynxaSmoochum · 13/09/2018 21:41

I wash and condition the DCs hair, but as quickly as is possible. It takes 30 mins to get home so their hair would be like combing through a haystack by the time we got home. Plus it's a late evening anyway, and DS2 is much happier with the pool showers than the noise from our electric one.

Swimming night is stressy enough without an extra shower at home to "look forwards to".

flumpybear · 13/09/2018 21:41

Annoys me immensely... kids shivering outside the showers is not acceptable! I normally just rinse off them properly bath at home
Later - then not stupidly leaving others to suffer getting freezing cold

GreenMeerkat · 13/09/2018 21:43

YANBU! Why they would want to spend longer in there than necessary is beyond me!

DDs lesson was this evening and it's just an overall grim experience. It's at least 40 degrees in the changing room, which is fine when you've been swimming but not when you're 8 months pregnant, fully dressed and dry. They are absolutely ram packed full of people. My DD cannot reach the shower button so I have to lean in to do it for her and get myself soaked in the process. She whines that it's too cold then too hot and whines when the shampoo gets in her eyes (despite me telling her 100 times not to rub them as that's how the shampoo gets in).

Why on Earth would you want to spend longer in there leaving conditioner on for 2 minutes? Fuck that right off!

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 13/09/2018 21:48

My dd who has long thick hair wears a swim hat she has a quick shower then out dried and dressed. Swim classes r sooo much easier with the hat!

Iloveacurry · 13/09/2018 21:48

This used to annoy me too. Some people taking an age in the shower! My two DDs just had a quick shower then they would have a bath or shower when we get home. Besides, regarding hair, surely most kids wear swimming caps?

ColouringPencils · 13/09/2018 21:49

Can't imagine having a shower at the pool, getting dry and dressed and then going home for another shower. What a hassle and waste of water. Just wash once quickly! Confused

Fraula · 13/09/2018 21:54

*Miladymilord

It takes around 20 minutes, sometimes more. Not silly, just (mixed race) curly hair that needs a lot of care.

They do the longer bits (conditioning, brushing through) outside the shower where possible... we're not totally insensitive Wink

arethereanyleftatall · 13/09/2018 21:56

Our pool runs about 3 lessons of 8 children for 30mins. So that's 24 children coming out of the pool every half hour. About 20 of them (at least!) go in to the female change. They're kids so at least half of them will have eczema. 3 showers. To the posters who say they have to wash and condition hair and spend ten mins , please do the maths and consider how selfish it is.

MarthasGinYard · 13/09/2018 21:56

Blimey I couldn't even entertain it.

Quick swill for 30 seconds then home to properly bath or shower.

Our showers aren't in cubicles a queue almost forms

Dreadful
