Parents doing all this in after swim class showers?

Whirlwindheadache · 13/09/2018 20:56

OK,today after ds swim class the showers were crammed. As usual. Tbh I usually wait til we get home and do a proper shower/ bath. however today I thought I'd quickly shower him to save me doing it later. There were children in there with parents stood outside loaded with shampoos...conditioners ( telling them to leave it on at least 2minutes) body washes...rinsing and generally taking their time despite huge queues of dripping children and parents waiting for their turn..

The showers to the side of my toddler's swimming pool at class specifically says no lotions or body washes/shampoos etc, and you are expected to be quick as the next lesson will be started almost immediately after you leave the pool, as the parents for next lesson already waiting on the benches with their toddlers.

TheWinterofOurDiscountTentsMk2 · 14/09/2018 09:53

But is not Normal behaviour to be ignorant and rude in public showers clearly wasting time when everyone needs to use the showers

It's ignorant and rude to rant about people doing the perfectly normal action of showering after swimming, which is what you are doing.
You are the one being nasty here, but you don't like a bit back. Shocker Hmm

Whirlwindheadache · 14/09/2018 09:54

And...lemonyfrickinsnicket. How rude. No one was using emollient cream. That was my point with the barrage of excema skin complaints and the need to shower. Why do these horrible people actually feel the need to be nasty to a normal discussion? Used to be nice here...ain't anymore

People read what they want to read and take offence at stuff that they imagine the OP means. It's not personal op it's just the way mumsnet is now.

Now steady on. Its perfectly fine to moan about shower hoggers, it doesn't make the OP nasty. Honestly what is it with mumsnet these days.

MazDazzle · 14/09/2018 10:01

If you posted in CHAT, ‘How annoying are the shower queues after swimming lessons?’ the responses might have been a bit different.

AIBU is often a more cut-throat.

Whirlwindheadache · 14/09/2018 10:01

OK.. I was lying and ranting. Heehee. Exactly..go ahead and read what you want to read. I personally do not wish to be part of this anymore. Don't join a thread unless you are able to stop being so narrow minded and see it from all sides. Dread to think what sort of a pompous creature you are in real life. Have a good day.

AIBU is horrible. People love a chance to pile on. It's a nasty section imo.

Whirlwindheadache · 14/09/2018 10:03

And thankyou to the others who saw where I was coming from. There's hope with the human race yet...Smile

I'm with you Whirlwind , showering is fine , shampoo and possibly conditioner also fine but if people are waiting please be considerate and quick. It's not ok to teach our children that they shouldn't think of others. I know all about swimming pool water and eczema... we would wash off excess at the pool and then rush home for a prolonged and more powerful shower followed up by emollients .

SuckOnTHATRyan · 14/09/2018 10:07

I dunno. Either if I thought the shower was important enough to wait all that time for, I’d probably be in favour of having a proper wash when I got there. If I didn’t think it was worth the wait I’d have probably just left it and gone home for a proper wash... I don’t get waiting and fuming about it tbh 🤷‍♀️. Either it’s important to get clean after swimming or it isn’t.

SuckOnTHATRyan · 14/09/2018 10:09

And thankyou to the others who saw where I was coming from. There's hope with the human race yet...smile

In other words; “Well done everyone who agreed with me. You’re a good person. If you disagree you are a bad human Hmm

Smile teehee

Sleepparalysis · 14/09/2018 10:11

Just seen this. Why slate the poster? I totally get it. Isn't this what they originally said that they go home to shower usually because the conditions there are bad but this particular time she decided to shower there instead of home. Then came the floods of why dry, then get dressed to go home and shower...and all the excema comments. Good God. YNBU. Definitely not. Ignore these nasty people whirlwind. I get you!!

SuckOnTHATRyan · 14/09/2018 10:12

Maybe the “nasty” accusation was because the op called someone “you freak”? I mean I know she’s been dishing out the teehees and smiley faces since then, but still.

Blimey

Many of us got what you meant Op

It certainly was the time issue from what I read

Yanbu at all

SuckOnTHATRyan · 14/09/2018 10:18

What ARE you on about? Narcissiticals? Is that even a word? It’s only a shower fgs. No need to get quite so invested and angry now is there?

If you must know, we skip the shower at the pool and my dcs don’t take swim lessons. Happy?

Some very angry people on here with a mob mentality and I actually don’t think the op is the victim; it’s anyone who disagrees with her.

astoundedgoat · 14/09/2018 10:19

I have their hair plaited tightly in 2 plaited pigtails before swimming (very very long hair) dunk them under the shower for about 10 seconds and then do all the faff and fiddling back home. I find the temperature and humidity of swimming changing rooms HUGELY stressful for some reason (when I'm dressed), so can't wait to get out.

astoundedgoat · 14/09/2018 10:23

There's a beach we go to regularly on holiday and there is a very very basic pair of showers (literally 2 angled pipes off a small cliff and an on/off mains-style lever with no drain - just going onto the sand) and it's nice to rinse the salt off before getting in the car going home etc.

I once saw a lady get her bag and produce full sized bottles of shower gel, shampoo and shower gel and spend a good 20 minutes doing all her bits and pieces while people (waiting for the shower) just stared in amazement. Utterly oblivious. Also all that soap going onto the sand like that!

BastardGoDarkly · 14/09/2018 10:33

Fucking Nora, what's up with some of you?

Totally hear you op.

TEN minutes this girl was in the only shower on Tuesday. Her mum splodges loads of shampoo on, rinse rinse then conditioner.... left her to it, titting about, not even with head under half the time, rinse rinse , bodywash... bodywash!!? Rinse rinse... while 3 other girls stood watching and waiting. It's fucking selfish.

SuckOnTHATRyan · 14/09/2018 10:34

what's up with some of you?

Some of us done agree with the op... apparently that makes us “freaks”, “strange narcissisticals” and apparently there is only faith to be found in humanity because some people agreed with the op... because of a shower Confused.

SuckOnTHATRyan · 14/09/2018 10:34
