I can’t help but see so many posters put others down to make themselves feel better. I had it harder, I’m better than you blah blah blah.

Are these people actually this vile in real life or is it all a keyboard warrior act?

I am rather direct and open in real life and I think I'm like that on MN too. Not afraid to voice my opinions and I may come across as slightly cynical. Never had anyone punching me in my face for it yet @DontBoreMe. If you have violent tendencies and feel like beating someone for being boring, you should probably get therapy or go live on an abandoned island.
What I am really bad at is remembering nicks, probably because I really don't care about them so I discuss opinions and not people. You won't see me waging a private war against someone I have a grudge against in RL and the same goes for MN. I am more someone who will be holding it for a long time and then go totally NC with no turning back.
Other than that, I am pretty extremely unspectacular and happy with that.

Padparadscha · 13/09/2018 15:12

mostdays, I did see a couple of her posts on there, she was using a username she’d previously used here. Can’t fault her tenacity, that’s for sure.

Lydiaatthebarre · 13/09/2018 15:14

Lipstick

It's not about whether someone had different views than you, it's about how they express that.

eg someone posts saying "AIBU to not want to invite my alcoholic sister to my wedding. She's recovering st the moment but I'm afraid she'll have a relapse and ruin the day"

Someone responds "YABU because (insert
calm explanation) fine.

Someone responds " well aren't you lovely. Your poor sister having a bitch like you for a sibling
I hope it pisses down on your wedding day."
Not so fine.

Pamdoo · 13/09/2018 15:14

I don't believe there is a typical MN poster.

I do think there are those who like to create a persona for themselves and are particular vehement in ensuring they only stick to that narrative. They like to be well known

This. I've noticed this today actually, and they try so hard and are so elaborate it's obvious.

TheWinterofOurDiscountTentsMk2 · 13/09/2018 15:15

I don't know, are you this much of a GF in real life, or is it just a GF act?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:17

You’re making a non point Lydia and appear to be repeating what I’m saying
Posting on mn most posters genuinely believe their stance is correct and will argue that
Some are more vexatious in doing so,some get overly personal
All amounts to same thing.peole, will generally defend their POV from vociferous to a few posts

Lydiaatthebarre · 13/09/2018 15:21

I think we're talking at cross purposes here lipstick. Let's leave it there.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:22

In fairness people only get notoriety when they have a fan club of acolytes
Mn used to have a culture of gawd not like the good ole days With in jokes, and bats
Fortunately that’s decreased and folk flounced,or it simply became less a thing
I do think some posters really over personalise mn and they are grudges they enact

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:23

If you wish to leave it Lydia that’s your prerogative. I’ll post as I wish

JacquesHammer · 13/09/2018 15:25

Well known on an anonymous forum.thats an oxymoron

Don’t be daft. Everyone has a username, they crop up on a certain type of thread very obviously. You haven’t been on forums very long if you don’t understand the “Queen Bee” type poster.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:28

mn bingo!are yiubgiing to tell me youre an ole timer and I don’t get mn
Was better back in the day...

Cobrider · 13/09/2018 15:28

Absolutely true, I am another oldie who has seen this come and go. Much better in the last year or so since a few flouncing/bans.

Cobrider · 13/09/2018 15:28

So bingo to me too.

JacquesHammer · 13/09/2018 15:30

mn bingo!

Ironic.

The rest of your post is a touch on the eccentric side.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 13/09/2018 15:31

I think most MNer's are nice and there's some really good advice on here.

I'm also amazed at what some people have to contend with in their lives and how they battle on regardless, esp. for their children's sakes. There are some amazing people out there!

I do get frustrated when there are calls to LTB over things that could be sorted out...walking out every time there's a row/disagreement is silly (I'm not talking about cheating or real abuse).

Lydiaatthebarre · 13/09/2018 15:31

I meant leave our bilateral did bate there lipstick, not leave the thread Confused

Are you like that in real life as well as online?Grin Grin Grin

Or they're just well known for being a thread hijacking argumentative idiot Grin

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:37

Time served on mn isn’t an indication of merit or persuasiveness.
nepotistic or cliquey notions of ole timer red problematic, creates a anodyne image of past that doesn’t hold up
All opinions are worthy of inspection and challenge whether poster old or new

longwayoff · 13/09/2018 15:37

Montfleur, what on earth are you doing here then? Surely you would benefit more from spending time with those who meet your own rare standards?

Vanderlylecrybabygeek · 13/09/2018 15:38

I’m always amazed at the high salaries some mn users claim to have (or claim their DH has). Also, amazed about the obsession with Zoflora

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:38

One persons thread hijacking argumentative idiot is another’s cogent and tenacious poster

JacquesHammer · 13/09/2018 15:39

Time served on mn isn’t an indication of merit or persuasiveness

So over time people don’t build up a picture of the behaviour of certain people? You certainly do when you’re a mod!

Nobody suggested length of time spent equated to merit.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 13/09/2018 15:39

I don’t know who zoflora is?

WillowPeach · 13/09/2018 15:40

Whoops I should of said IABU forum instead of general MN - my mistake. But yes, I feel like so many people are rude for the sake of being rude on this section AngryHmm
