To ask how old you were when you were last asked for ID to prove your age?

Hello

I am in my early thirties and yesterday I got asked for ID when purchasing a bottle of wine. I had my hair tied back and no make up on so I know in those instances I can look quite young.

I told my partner about it and he thought it was hilarious, and it made me wonder how old other people have been when they have been asked for ID?

A few years ago when I was almost 30. Made my day Grin

43! Ka-ching! At least the barmaid had the good grace to look mortified when I showed her my driving licence

Last week buying paint stripper in B&q. Apparently being 15weeks pregnant, not sleeping and spending a couple of hours hugging the toilet bowl has left me looking a youthful under 21 🤣 (I'm 33)

BonnieF · 11/09/2018 22:27

39, while attempting to buy a six pack of beer at a gas station on the Las Vegas strip.

“Do you have ID, please ma’am?”

“I’m 39! I’m old enough to be your mother!”

“I still need to see your ID, ma’am”

“Are you serious?”

“Yes ma’am”

So I had to trail all the way back to my hotel room on the umpteenth floor to retrieve my sodding passport to prove to this kid that I was old enough to buy beer. Had I wanted to purchase a gun I’m sure it would have been fine....

Confusedbeetle · 11/09/2018 22:29

65!

Heavystream · 11/09/2018 22:29

I got asked for ID when buying an energy drink last week. You need to be 16 for it and I’m 25!. I am only 5’2 though and look like a 12 year old

Bubblemumma1 · 11/09/2018 22:33

I’m 30. I get asked for ID each time I try to buy alcohol without my DH. The last time was a few weeks ago when I left him and the kids behind in an aisle to attempt to buy some wine. I did this on purpose, of course.

Just before fathers day, getting some whisky for husband and dad, 4 year old next to me and got asked. I'm 35 and grey!

CarolDanvers · 11/09/2018 22:40

40, yes really.

bellinisurge · 11/09/2018 22:41

10 years ago, when I was in my forties, people asked if I was in my thirties. Does that count? They don't ask it now Confused

TuMeke · 11/09/2018 22:42
  1. In my running gear, sweaty and dishevelled. I was bloody delighted.
babysharksmummy · 11/09/2018 22:43

26 for cigarettes and didn't have any on me.
Between 15-18, never asked!

TuMeke · 11/09/2018 22:47

Ooh, and a couple of years ago (was then 39) I got refused a bottle of wine in the supermarket as I didn’t have my ID on me. They wouldn’t sell it to me until DH (then 41) came back from wherever he’d been lurking and they happily sold it to him without asking him for ID. I have never let him forget that according to the checkout person, I am visibly under 25 and he is clearly a dirty old man Grin

purplemunkey · 11/09/2018 22:47

37, last week buying a bottle of wine after work. It used to annoy me in my 20s but I was quite pleased this time actually Grin

ShatnersBassoon · 11/09/2018 22:48

I can't remember, so probably late teens in this country. It wasn't much of a thing back then, and I was too far out the other side when the Think 25 type schemes came about.

  1. A day that shines in my memory like a diamond.
beluga425 · 11/09/2018 22:51

48 by the Ocado delivery bloke.

Cattenberg · 11/09/2018 22:52

35, but I hardly ever got asked past 32. Challenge 25 used to do my head in. People usually knew I was over 18, but because they couldn't be sure I was over 25, they wouldn't let me buy a bottle of wine without my passport. Stupid policy.

Tanfastic · 11/09/2018 22:54

About 35. I'm now 45 and it's not happened in the last decade 😂

Fabricwitch · 11/09/2018 22:58

I'm 26 and get asked on the rare occasion...
Better that than the other way around. My work colleague basically got told she looks about 50 the other day and she's the same age as me! She doesn't and the customer obviously needs new glasses but it was funny Grin

Fabricwitch · 11/09/2018 23:02

they wouldn't let me buy a bottle of wine without my passport

The first time I got ID'ed in the UK buying a bottle of wine I showed them my Irish "age card" and they had to get a manager as it wasn't on their list of valid IDs. The manager did put it through. Surely there's something other than your passport you could show them??

DevaDiva · 11/09/2018 23:03

40, 2 years ago...buying sparklers in Morrisons. I assume it was a random check but was secretly pleased.

Cattenberg · 11/09/2018 23:04

I don't have a driving licence, so I'm not sure I do.
