To ask how old you were when you were last asked for ID to prove your age?

Hello

I am in my early thirties and yesterday I got asked for ID when purchasing a bottle of wine. I had my hair tied back and no make up on so I know in those instances I can look quite young.

I told my partner about it and he thought it was hilarious, and it made me wonder how old other people have been when they have been asked for ID?

33, in Waitrose. I was never IDed when I was underage drinking.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 11/09/2018 19:32

Last week.. 29...
Worse was when the cashier asked me.... Are you sure you're old enough to buy this when trying to buy wine! Bit ermmmm yep I'm sure!

CryingMessFFS · 11/09/2018 19:33

30, last month. I was buying paracetamol Hmm I look slightly younger than my age but definitely not 16

BumDisease · 11/09/2018 19:33

I turned 33 in July, and about 3 days before my birthday I was asked for ID to buy a can of Relentless... made my day!

sexnotgender · 11/09/2018 19:34

35

Kenworthington · 11/09/2018 19:34

About 38 I think

  1. It was my first trip out of the house without DS who was 8 weeks old. Tried to buy one of those mini bottles of wine. I hadn’t slept in a few nights so I think I looked really washed out!
Danglingmod · 11/09/2018 19:42

Never been asked for id in my life. I'm mid forties. I don't think I look that much older than I am...

Jaxhog · 11/09/2018 19:43

36! But I was in the US at a ball game. They didn't even believe my passport, and I had to get someone else to buy me a beer. I was overjoyed!

  1. Regularly, in supermarkets etc buying wine. They’ve really cracked down!
Amanduh · 11/09/2018 19:44

Today! I’m 32 and say I look about my age but could be anywhere from 25-35 I suppose

I am 40 (41 next month) and still get asked for id entering bars, buying wine and such.
I don't colour my hair or wear make up, so I think I look my age, but I get told all the time I look about 27 or 28.
It's just because I have a round face I think

CloudCaptain · 11/09/2018 19:49

I asked a young man for ID when I worked at a pub. Turned out to be a 30yo woman with no make up on. Just putting that out there. Wink

ZanyMobster · 11/09/2018 19:49

I have never been asked after 18 for alcohol, nightclubs maybe around 18-20 but I think that's more for security than age. I was asked for fags at about 19/20. I don't look that old I don't think but I must have the sort of face that has always said 'I am over 25' I think I should be offended.

skippy67 · 11/09/2018 19:51

46, in Tesco a few years ago. I also got asked for my date of birth earlier this year going in to a club. I was 50 at the time.

JynxaSmoochum · 11/09/2018 19:51

I was refused my cans of gin and tonic 2 weeks before my 37th birthday because I'd had to take it out for a DBS check a few days earlier.

I have been asked since turning 37. I had a nervous moment when ID-less mid-run while buying a Red Bull to pick me up for the last 5k uphill to home. The assistant looked me up and down and murmured "16... 18..." and I replied "37!". Fortunately she hadn't asked directly so left a loop hole to be able to serve me Grin

Generally, I don't get asked for a week's shop, it's when I have a few items. I don't drink much so don't have a suspect basket very frequently.

DH thinks it's hilarious that I get IDed so easily... my friends and I thought it was hilarious when he was mistaken for their child's granddad when he did an emergency drop-off for them Grin

I’m 46 and been asked twice in the last month. I was asked for ID at Disney last month but think they ask everyone. Then was asked if I was 21 (I think) when I bought butane gas at Halfords yesterday I was thrilled!

BettyBooper · 11/09/2018 20:12

38, whilst pregnant, buying non-alcoholic wine Hmm

Duskqueen · 11/09/2018 20:13

I got ID'd on my 18th birthday, but only because I was wearing an 18 today badge and they asked if I wanted to be ID'd.

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 11/09/2018 20:14

I'm the same age as a lot of these posters and in my case - fucking years ago. I clearly look old and haggard beyond my years

MrsLion · 11/09/2018 20:45

I think I look about 45 so clearly the young woman serving me needed glasses Wink

chipsandpeas · 11/09/2018 20:45
