To ask how old you were when you were last asked for ID to prove your age?

Hello

I am in my early thirties and yesterday I got asked for ID when purchasing a bottle of wine. I had my hair tied back and no make up on so I know in those instances I can look quite young.

I told my partner about it and he thought it was hilarious, and it made me wonder how old other people have been when they have been asked for ID?

  1. A couple of weeks ago.

About a year ago I am 38

But worse I get asked how old I am by new co-workers which I hate and think is offensive. I have 2 teenage children and if I ever talk about them this will always seem to shock people into asking my age

I think I probably look about 35 but I don’t know. Sometimes people say 33

I wonder if it's a legal requirement in certain states, but not all, because they definitely don't always ask on the East Coast? I was trumpeting about my recent experience being ID'ed on another thread because it was unusual and gratifying smile. The only people I regularly see ID'ed are students (several colleges around here).

I get carded regularly here in New England and I'm nearly 50. Most often in supermarkets.

27, a few months ago while trying to buy a lottery ticket.

I'd left my drivers licence at home so I didn't win the euro millions that night, but I was very happy Grin I'd found my first few grey hairs that week so I needed that compliment.

DinosApple · 11/09/2018 21:07

In the UK aged 17 - had my fake ID though. Never since.

In the US aged 21.

I've had an old 'been here before' face since the day I was born Grin.

Today in Tesco. Well sort of....I was buying party poppers for my son's birthday party and was using the self service checkout. I'd bought plastic cups too and they were obviously too light and the machine wouldn't pick them up. The man who was overseeing the area cane over to use his card to sort it. The party poppers had come up with the 'think 25' message and he said something along the lines of ' I guess you are'. I grinned and said 'just a bit past!' I'm 42!!

Penguinsnpandas · 11/09/2018 21:08

I am mid 40s and was recently waiting for a tour, tour guide comes over and asks where my parents are. Shock

A couple of years back a lady asked my age, she didn't believe it so did a survey of the entire swimming pool Blush who decided I was 24.

OnGoldenPond · 11/09/2018 21:09

I've never been asked for ID, not even when buying rough cider at the offy aged 16

I have one of those faces Confused

Freezingheart · 11/09/2018 21:10

I was 36. Even being very optimistic there is no way I look under 21 or 25. I think the shop assistant was just being very enthusiastic. It really annoyed me as I had no id on me so had to leave shop without wine.

Junkmail · 11/09/2018 21:12

I’m 29 and still regularly asked for ID. I was also IDed at the cinema not that long ago Shock I have a baby face I guess??

Penguinsnpandas · 11/09/2018 21:16

Remember guy in front of me at cinema being asked for ID with his girlfriend, he was so hacked off and clearly looked older. He produced it and was mid 30s but guy serving says in a robotic voice it says here check person is over 21 so I check everyone.

PurpleFlower1983 · 11/09/2018 21:21

35, about a week ago.

sue51 · 11/09/2018 21:25

Last week to check I was entitled to over 65s discount.

Toocold · 11/09/2018 21:30

41, it was recently, I was most pleased and the woman asked my secret.. it’s a lot of no 7! as was my younger sister when asked at 34, I had actually made an effort and had make up on so the black circles were hidden!

This year, aged 35. I laughed while showing him and he went, oh yeah, sorry. Grin

Not a chance I look under 30 let alone 25.

Redcrayons · 11/09/2018 21:34

Here, About 16, they were much more lax in the 80's.
In US, in my late 20s, I was delighted till the waiter said, 'don't worry we ask everyone'.

Livelovelearnsomething · 11/09/2018 21:36

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/09/2018 21:37
  1. It was for a remortgage application.
Neverender · 11/09/2018 21:38

37 - regularly Blush

Pressuredrip · 11/09/2018 21:38

32, a couple of months ago. Tesco refused me just before closing time so it was a mad dash to the off-licence who also ID'd me (wasn't carrying any).

LunaLovegoodsRadishes · 11/09/2018 21:42

It was 20 years ago. I was 21 and it was my round. My brother who was 18 at the time had to buy the drinks!!! Grin

Electrascoffee · 11/09/2018 21:43

A few weeks ago. Im 38 but look more 28. It's bloody ridiculous and M&S is the worst. The idiots should be able to see I'm over 25.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 11/09/2018 21:44

Just last week when buying DH a box of Budweiser.... I'm 34 & started smugly pulling out my driving license & the guy on the checkout starting laughing & said 'don't worry love, I'm only joking' cheeky bastard!!

Ringsender2 · 11/09/2018 21:45

Too long ago to remember
