at the Last Night of the Proms? Love the music and general English nuttiness of the concert but really pleased to see so many European flags and hats.

Gersemi
Also off the point, I really enjoyed the saxophone soloist.

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 17:24

Brexiters tell us they have brilliant arguments they just never actually tell us what they are.

Because every time they have they have suffered the vitriol that the remainers spew at them.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 17:36

Leavers have to suffer some "vitriol" which they can avoid by turning off their computer and ignoring it. Remainers have to suffer the very real and damaging consequences of leaving the EU for no good reason.

No contest, really.

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 17:41

EthelThePiratesDaughter

still no reason for some remainers to be absolute arseholes to leavers. especially when they are allegedly trying to have a discussion.

Also why should leavers have to turn off their pcs surely the remainers that are being arseholes could just stop being arseholes?

Bobbybobbins · 11/09/2018 17:45

Well if one of you could possibly be brave, Brexiteers, and face potential negativity, we'd all love to hear any plans for the way forwards?

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 17:45

Well perhaps remainers feel the need to "be arseholes" because there is nothing else they can do in response to their rights, security and quality of life being jeopardised by lies and stupidity and they are frustrated at not being listened to.

What do you suggest remainers do instead?

I have spent literally years trying to engage leavers in mature debate, but sometimes my patience with leavers who refuse to engage with any facts or logic wears thin and there is really nothing left to say other than "you idiot".

KennDodd · 11/09/2018 17:48

@BoneyBackJefferson

Could you please give me just one benefit of Brexit that will compensate me for the lose of my job?

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 17:50

EthelThePiratesDaughter

What do you suggest remainers do instead?

They could do what other remainers are doing and use the democratic process.

I have spent literally years trying to engage leavers in mature debate, but sometimes my patience with leavers who refuse to engage with any facts or logic wears thin and there is really nothing left to say other than "you idiot".

Maybe you turn your ire to those that are preventing discourse by name calling and general fuckwittery, you could even pull them up on their behaviour. instead of calling those on the end of it "idiots".

Helmetbymidnight · 11/09/2018 17:51

I was sniggering gently when I heard on the News that prominent Brexit supporters criticising the Chequers agreement had refused to say what they would do instead, claiming that it's up to the government to come up with alternatives. It's such an exact reflection of what Brexit supporters on this thread (and indeed everywhere else) are doing

So true.

BertrandRussell · 11/09/2018 17:52

"Because every time they have they have suffered the vitriol that the remainers spew at them."
Well, instead of expressing your views and risk the "vitriol"- could you please give the name of an MP or a journalist or any other published writer who you feel best expresses the positives of Brexit?

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 17:52

Maybe you turn your ire to those that are preventing discourse by name calling and general fuckwittery, you could even pull them up on their behaviour. instead of calling those on the end of it "idiots".

Feel free to suggest a more appropriate response to being called "remoaners" or being told "you lost, get over it" and "no deal is better than a bad deal" (and equivalent bollocks) by people with no clue.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 17:54

They could do what other remainers are doing and use the democratic process.

Please elaborate.

We have repeatedly been told "Brexit means Brexit" and there is no prospect of a referendum on the final deal, so this no longer has anything to do with the democratic process.

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 17:55

EthelThePiratesDaughter

Feel free to suggest a more appropriate response

Don't engage?

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 17:57

EthelThePiratesDaughter

Please elaborate.

The marches, handing out of flags, legal cases against etc. etc.

and there is no prospect of a referendum on the final deal,

Do you think that all leavers are happy about this?

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 17:58

so this no longer has anything to do with the democratic process.

It never was, it was about a man tantruming over his bruised ego.

Helmetbymidnight · 11/09/2018 17:59

I thought most brexiteers realised there’s nothing much positive about Brexit now-
Even the big leave campaigners are talking about how shit it’s going to be.

I’m very impressed that boney knows many benefits but sad that she is keeping them secret because remainers spew such vitriol. I wonder what they are?!?!

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 18:00

BertrandRussell

I would but I have never found an MP or journalist that comes anywhere near my opinions on this.

BertrandRussell · 11/09/2018 18:00

"Do you think that all leavers are happy about this?"

To be honest, I don't know what Leavers who think deeply about things think-because they won't tell me. And I do ask, frequently.

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 18:01

Helmetbymidnight

I'm impressed that you can make stuff up about me and try and pass it off as the truth.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 18:01

Don't engage?

And let them off the hook for having to face up to what they have done? Nah!

The marches, handing out of flags, legal cases against etc. etc.

None of which makes the slightest bit of difference.

Do you think that all leavers are happy about this?

Frankly I don't give a flying fuck what leavers are happy with or not because I am tired of pandering to idiots who don't think through the consequences of their vote and won't listen to facts.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 11/09/2018 18:02

Bertrand

Try Andrew O`Hagan.

"Ethel"

BTW, to what do you attribute the rise of the far right in the EU?

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 18:02

BertrandRussell

To be honest, I don't know what Leavers who think deeply about things think-because they won't tell me. And I do ask, frequently.

and there is the catch 22.

Helmetbymidnight · 11/09/2018 18:03

you don’t know many benefits?
Or you don’t refuse to tell them?
Or you don’t refuse to tell them because remainers spew vitriol?

Which is wrong?

BoneyBackJefferson · 11/09/2018 18:09

EthelThePiratesDaughter

Letting them off the hook for what, no-one knows what is going to happen because no-one has any idea.

None of which makes the slightest bit of difference.

Yup, welcome to the world of being ignored in politics.

maybe that you don't care what they think is another reason not to engage?

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 18:09

BTW, to what do you attribute the rise of the far right in the EU?

Honestly?

I attribute it to the fact that most people alive today have led relatively sheltered, peaceful, prosperous lives and don't know how lucky they are or remember how shit things can actually get.

See the map on that BBC article?

Strange absence of the far right in Spain and Portugal, no? Why do you think that might be?
