I got this from an antique shop and I love it but my DH is not too sure and I want to know if it is just me that likes it. It is nearly 80 years old.

Are you going to redecorate? I needs to be in the right room, and that is not the right room, sorry!

brokenharbour · 07/09/2018 17:27

Agree, on the right setting would be awesome but I think you may need a country house to pull it off.

maxthemartian · 07/09/2018 17:27

I think it's hideous, DH quite likes it.
Perhaps we should swap DHs Grin

Returnofthesmileybar · 07/09/2018 17:28

That's horrific sorry. And definitely doesn't suit the rest of the room, maybe in a house with antique decor it might be less horrific doubt it

overnightangel · 07/09/2018 17:28

Would go nicely with some hideous axeminster carpets and terrible pink woodchip wallpaper

Bluntness100 · 07/09/2018 17:28

I think it could look great in thr right room. But your room isn't decorated for it. For example a grey carpet clashes horribly. And the walls are fairly bland.

If that was sitting on a plush cream carpet, or oak floorboards with a beautiful rug that picked out the colours of the sofa, with walls a pale muted golden colour, a beautiful coffee table, side tables with big lamps, it would look ace.

Right now I'm sorry it looks really out of place and just looks like an old sofa in a rather dreary room.

So you can fix it, but it you need to fix the room round it.

FanWithoutAGuard · 07/09/2018 17:29

I have no strong feelings either way.

If I had it though, I wouldn't be able to resist going all out - dark walls, gold bits and pieces with scrollwork etc. you can't be half-hearted if you're aiming for fabulous.

flapjackfairy · 07/09/2018 17:30

Dont drop a fag on it. I imagine it would go up v fast !
I like the shape, fabric no .

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 07/09/2018 17:30

I think it's awful, sorry.

crazydoglady6867 · 07/09/2018 17:30

bluecloud. Oh my I bet it has.Grin I think I am getting a 50/50 from mumsnet! my DH said I could have it if I loved it that much as I fell in love with it so he was very kind as he said it was a bit goudy.

Awful.wouldnt have it in my house

Ginmakesitallok · 07/09/2018 17:31

It's hideous. And it looks like it smells.

Time40 · 07/09/2018 17:31

I love the shape of the sofa. I don't like the shape of the chair. The pattern is ... it's not floating my boat out all that far, but it's OK - it would look better with some more things of the same style and vintage in the room.

sanssherif · 07/09/2018 17:31

Is it brown?
Would look ok but room needs to match x

crazydoglady6867 · 07/09/2018 17:32

It looks like the one that customer liberated from House of Fraser the other day.

She had matching wallpaper. Grin

oooompa · 07/09/2018 17:35

I love the shape but the fabric is awful, it looks dirty.

BlueEyesandSpitfire · 07/09/2018 17:36

I absolutely love it but agree that they don't suit the room. You could easily change the decor though.

I found this sofa (which people seem to have similarly strong feelings about 😄 ) in a second hand shop last winter and almost fainted with lust. £10 and that included the foot stool. One of my best finds ever.

It looks like the kind of sofa Alf Garnett would die on.

Aeroflotgirl · 07/09/2018 17:37
