I got this from an antique shop and I love it but my DH is not too sure and I want to know if it is just me that likes it. It is nearly 80 years old.

I really like it!! My oh would hate it though so well done for getting it past yours!

MaryShelley1818 · 09/09/2018 20:50

Definitely not my taste even though I do like patterns and really don’t like modern stuff.
A bit too much.

Firsttimer1234 · 09/09/2018 21:06

Love it. Get some bright fuchsia cushions on that bad boy

yumyumpoppycat · 10/09/2018 07:45

Ah ok, well that makes a difference if it is comfortable, cushions on the sofa or chair and a throw over the other as a temp measure until you either change carpet or reupholster? I think big plants were a really good suggestion.

@Washedwithrain I live in France too... maybe they were the equivalent of the IKEA corner sofa!!

OutPinked · 10/09/2018 09:01

Not my taste either but I do like the shape.

yorkrose · 10/09/2018 11:02

We all have different tastes so it doesn't matter what other people think. DH was happy to let you buy it, you love it so that's all that matters. It will be well made enjoy it. It's gone to a good home.

MaryDollNesbitt · 10/09/2018 11:08

I really like it, but I don't think the rest of the environment is doing anything for it. Carpet and furniture clash, imo.

I think a period property with worn wooden floors, a large open plan fireplace and lots of antiques would make it work! Wink

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/09/2018 17:29

Good God its terrifying. I'd be hiring that out to haunt a house.

Jux · 11/09/2018 16:56

I'd recover it as the fabric design is vile. I was watching a similar on ebay, but I'd have at least tried to dye the covers before anyone got too comfy. As it was, we've found something a lot smaller, comfortable and a nice colour.

The one I was watching would have fitted with the house (250yo) but the one we're getting better.

lowtide · 11/09/2018 17:36

it's deffo the rooms problem not the sofas problem.
stripped wooden floors, dark green or burgundy walls, damask curtains. antique mirror, a lovely antique rug. large houseplants in victorian planters. lots of low level lamps, old books and paintings antique prints. It would look cool.
never have a feature wallpapered wall. it looks terrible.

Jux · 11/09/2018 17:43

I do think your door is hung the wrong side, don't you think it should open to the corner of the room? Cuts down on draughts (and also the servants children can't peep in and see what you're up to).

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 11/09/2018 17:58

The door is open I think.
