Hermes have ruined my holiday

NationalShiteDay · 31/08/2018 17:25

I go on holiday next week, an attempt at a relaxing break (few nights somewhere close by in case it all goes tits up). I have bad PND and had ordered some new clothes to try and help me feel like I look a bit nicer on holiday. My local Hermes courier has them and I've waited in all day for them to deliver. They claimed to have attempted to deliver them this morning but I know for a fact this is lies. I was sat by the window with the baby asleep on me watching for the delivery when they claimed to have attempted.

I've been in touch with customer services who say they can't get in touch with the courier. They won't be able to attempt delivery again until I'm on holiday next week.

No new clothes for me Sad

Sorry I'm just wallowing in my own self pity here and needed a rant. I just wanted to look nice and not feel fat. The baby cries all the time if i try and go to the shops.

I'm 13 weeks pp and yes I have been to see the GP about my low mood.

Why do people lie instead of doing their job properly??

Apologies, that's quite a self indulgent whinge. I'll see if it can be removed.

Don't apologise - it's disappointing! Can you order some stuff from Next? Or do they use Hermes?

Stickerrocks · 31/08/2018 17:28

Do you have a local Facebook page? We regularly get posts on ours ple hoping to track their local Hermes courier and you may be able to track down your parcel.

Bombardier25966 · 31/08/2018 17:29

There's been a mess up on their part, but ordering clothes to be delivered at the last minute is what has messed up your holiday plans.

Hopefully they'll deliver tomorrow, many Hermes couriers do.

I hope you're on the road to recovery soon.

stressedma · 31/08/2018 17:30

Thanks that's rubbish OP. I have the same experience with Hermes, they're crappy. Never received anything on time when they're delivering. Is there any chance you can leave baby with your partner or a family member for a quick hour of shopping, even just to pick up one or two new things? Or even go with a friend so it's less stressful? xx

Mumof1DS · 31/08/2018 17:30

I understand. I have PND too and I'd be excited for new clothes arriving before a holiday. You're allowed a rant, everyone is.

Do you have a road near you with a similar name? We had this issue recently and the package was at the other road with the similar name!

FishesThatFly · 31/08/2018 17:31

Bombardier25966 - what utter rubbish!! OP can order clothes whenever she wants! If they had done their job properly there would be no issue

fanomoninon · 31/08/2018 17:32

A friend had exactly this experience last week - ordered clothes for holiday, Hermes didn't deliver but said they had (she was in all day) - she got onto twitter/live chat and had a big strop and they delivered the next day, first thing. Worth a go...??

stressedma · 31/08/2018 17:34

Also agree with pp about getting in touch via social media. I also find that if you ask for a refund they're pretty good at finding your order and getting it to you asap!

cecinestpasunepipe · 31/08/2018 17:36

It's the lying that adds insult to injury. I've had this myself, staying in for a much needed delivery, practically hanging out of the window waiting for it, to be told that the courier attempted delivery. Bollocks. Funny how when I am genuinely out, they manage to leave my parcels with my stay at home neighbours!
This once happened to me a few years ago with Citilink, a few days later they went bust. Karma, although sad for their honest workers. Unfortunately karma doesn't discriminate!

NationalShiteDay · 31/08/2018 17:38

Thank you all, these are really helpful suggestions. Except Bombardier, presume you're the type to enjoy kicking someone when they're down. I'm 13 weeks pp, my body has changed, I doesn't just snap back, hence needing to order lots of things at multiple times to try and fine something that doesn't look horrific.

And actually, if they hadn't lied, I wouldn't be posting this!

I'll give Twitter and FB a go.

I'm hearing this a lot about Hermes at the moment. Go social media on them.

AdoreTheBeach · 31/08/2018 17:42

I hate hermes too. I have had this happen to me multiple times that I now check with retailers who they use. If it’s Hermes, I don’t buy from them for delivery.

I have had the experience once in particular where I was in my front garden, gardening all day, and they said they attempted to deliver. Big fat lie as I was in front all day! On that occasion, the Hermes courier said I could go to them to collect. Well, if I had the means to do that I would’ve gone to the shop in the first place.

Penninepain · 31/08/2018 17:42

Do you know what OP? If the clothes do not come in time, you wont miss them!

I have never been in exactly your situation, but a few years ago, as I was packing at about 10pm for a 6am flight the next day, I discovered that 90% of my 'holiday' clothes did not fit. I was beyond devastated, sure that the whole holiday would be crap, but, in fact, i think I enjoyed it more, because i had kind of given up?
I was not faffing around every day deciding what to wear. I did not have much to choose from, and it was liberating!

Enjoy your holiday, no matter what 😎 (and you can always go shopping on holiday, you know )!

Seeinthedark · 31/08/2018 17:43

Yanbu. I ordered a big expensive pack of chocolates early last week, which were meant to be delivered last Friday by Hermes and they still haven't arrived. I have had to ask for a refund. I hope they manage to come tomorrow for you and hope you have a nice holiday.

Emmageddon · 31/08/2018 17:45

What about ordering some clothes from Very or Next? Both do next day delivery. I've ordered at 10pm and it's still arrived the next day. Get a refund for the stuff you have already ordered. Get yourself some snazzy new bits and enjoy your holiday.

Flowers PND ain't much fun, I've been there, got the t-shirt.

AChickenCalledKorma · 31/08/2018 17:46

Bombardier for many people, just placing an online order while looking after a newborn is a major achievement. Let alone arranging a holiday. Criticising someone with PND who has managed to get her shit together to order herself something nice, but then been let down, is not nice.

rougebuterfly · 31/08/2018 17:59

I would certainly try twitter as a means to getting this sorted. When I have had to complain about a company I have found tweeting a more effective way of sorting things out than calling customer services

TonTonMacoute · 31/08/2018 18:02

These delivery people are a law unto themselves. I had a delivery from DPD recently, and actually there was no problem with it at all, and it was delivered when they said.

However, they sent me an email to say it had been delivered, with a photo and I clicked on it out of interest. The photo was not of my house! My parcel, which was delivered to my house, but he took a picture of it outside someone else’s house! Why?

Hope you have a lovely break anyway OP, and feel better soon.

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 18:04

Phone the retailer you ordered from and ask them to fix it ASAP

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 18:05

Oh and you're allowed to moan about it, do not apologise Thanks
I'd moan about it and I'm not even depressed.

Daffodils07 · 31/08/2018 18:07

Yep a lot of couriers are awful, I waited in all day for a cot and it never came.
I phoned them up and was told it was delivered, which obviously was bull.
They even tried to blame my lovely next door neighbour whom cares for a very disabled child.and if I had believed them would of caused her stress that was not needed.
It turned out it was delivered two streets away, I went myself and collected it! How the people took it in because it was quite clear it was a cot knowing they hadn't even ordered one is beyond me.
Yanbu op, I had pnd and just having a little something to look forward to can help.

Theresnodisneyending · 31/08/2018 18:08

Oh, Hermes is a Royal Fucking Bastard. Lied twice about "attempting delivery", they refused to believe me (it was over some digger pants for my son, why on earth would I try and swindle them out of £4 bloody pounds?!), I'm a sahp, I was in allll day. EVERY day. Was a real fight to get the money back. The driver just couldn't be arsed to try and find my house (it's up a small lane - road marked, but not in your face obvious). That was just one time. They're such a pain, I cancel orders if I know a supplier has used them because they just can't be trusted.

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 18:11

Op can you get to a bravissimo tomorrow? They're pepperberry clothes are very flattering on tummy and boobs. Tell the shop assistants what you're looking for if it's overwhelming, they're very helpful.
