Hermes have ruined my holiday

NationalShiteDay · 31/08/2018 17:25

I go on holiday next week, an attempt at a relaxing break (few nights somewhere close by in case it all goes tits up). I have bad PND and had ordered some new clothes to try and help me feel like I look a bit nicer on holiday. My local Hermes courier has them and I've waited in all day for them to deliver. They claimed to have attempted to deliver them this morning but I know for a fact this is lies. I was sat by the window with the baby asleep on me watching for the delivery when they claimed to have attempted.

I've been in touch with customer services who say they can't get in touch with the courier. They won't be able to attempt delivery again until I'm on holiday next week.

No new clothes for me Sad

Sorry I'm just wallowing in my own self pity here and needed a rant. I just wanted to look nice and not feel fat. The baby cries all the time if i try and go to the shops.

I'm 13 weeks pp and yes I have been to see the GP about my low mood.

Why do people lie instead of doing their job properly??

Infuriating! Have a nice time anyway.

pastaandpestoagain · 31/08/2018 18:14

Don't apologise, Hermes have a dreadful reputation and wanting clothes that fit you so you feel a bit better is very sensible. Hope your holiday goes well.

SinglePringle · 31/08/2018 18:15

Asos do next day and you can do Click and Collect so you don’t have to wait in.

GinandGingerBeer · 31/08/2018 18:15

Next do a lot of different brands and if you order by 9pm and it's it stock, you can get it delivered tomorrow.

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 18:16

Their*

aLilNonnyMouse · 31/08/2018 18:16

They did this to me several in a row a couple of weeks ago. I contacted the retailer directly who investigated. Hermes eventually confessed they had lost the package before the first delivery "attempt".

It's the lies that bother me the most. I can make alternative arrangements if I have to but only if I know what's going on.

HermioneKipper · 31/08/2018 18:16

I had exactly the same thing with Hermes, was on mat leave, had to go to work during a restructure for an interview. Ordered something at the last minute as none of my clothes fit, was feeling awful about it. Was in all day waiting for the delivery when they claimed to have attempted. Absolute lying bastards. I pitched a fit with Dorothy Perkins and said I would never order with them again so long as Hermes were their delivery company. Package was delivered first thing next morning luckily before I had to leave for my interview. I was so furious though, will never order from a firm that uses Hermes ever again

kaytee87 · 31/08/2018 18:17

If you're ordering on line and you're in between sizes then order the one bigger. Slightly loose clothes make you look slimmer than slightly tight clothes.

WaxOnFeckOff · 31/08/2018 18:19

I think it depends on your courier and I'm really sorry this has happened to you OP. Do you have anyone that could nip out and bring some stuff back fr you to try?

My local Hermes courier is an absolute delight though, she will leave my stuff securely if I'm not in, will check to see if I've left any returns for her and is generally honest and reliable and I know she gets a pittance for delivery and collection per parcel. I time any returns for the same time as deliveries so she can get some kind of economy of scale as I'd hate for her to give it up.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 31/08/2018 18:19

Very disappointing OP, it's not 'wallowing' to feel let down especially when the courier lies about having attempted delivery.
Hope you have a nice holiday.

NationalShiteDay · 31/08/2018 18:20

Thank you all, you've cheered me up. Especially PenninePain with "i think I enjoyed it more, because i had kind of given up" this really made me laugh Grin

You've given me some great suggestions for other retailers, I'll have a proper look pncecthe kids are in bed Smile

I've been doing the option with Hermes recently where they deliver to a shop nearby - in my case a petrol station 5 minutes walk away. You get texted when it arrives and then have a week to pick the delivery up. And if things don't fit, you can then take the parcel to them to send back so don't have to go to the post office. Its much less stressy all round as even Hermes can find a place they deliver to every day..... I appreciate its no help at the moment, but definitely worth remembering for next time?

5cats · 31/08/2018 18:25

My local Hermes delivery woman is lovely, and delivers on time or leaves items in a safe place if I'm not in.

Roomba · 31/08/2018 18:29

I've heard many similar tales, OP, about various delivery companies sadly. It all seems to depend on who your local driver is - some are brilliant, some are utterly useless lying arseholes.

If it makes you feel any better, I initially misread your thread title as 'Herpes has ruined my holiday' - so it could be worse! Grin Must book that optician appointment... Blush

butterflysugarbaby · 31/08/2018 18:46

Awwwww, don't let it wreck you hols! Sad

I know you are pissed off, but try and make the best of it, enjoy yourself if you can, and I hope you feel better soon.

Oh, and YANBU. Smile Some couriers/delivery services are shit!

HairyHiker · 31/08/2018 18:46

Next use Hermes for delivery.

Feel I have to defend my Hermes lady. She's an absolute treasure, always on time and leaves parcels in a secure location if I'm not in (no help to you op I realise)

Hope you manage to get something sorted and I hope you feel better soon. Oh and enjoy your holiday.

coffeeagogo · 31/08/2018 18:47

Solidarity OP - Hermes did the exact same to me today - claimed to have attempted delivery at 10.21am whilst I have been working at home in my office next to ththe front door all day - they are useless

CaMePlaitPas · 31/08/2018 18:51

Hi OP, I'm 13 weeks pp too, I know exactly how you're feeling. Hope you have a nice time on holiday x

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 31/08/2018 18:51

You can order from ASOS with next day delivery and it’s really easy to send stuff back to them.

Hermes are the worst when it comes to delivery from my personal experiences.

WaxOnFeckOff · 31/08/2018 18:55
OlennasWimple · 31/08/2018 18:55

I hate Hermes. It's a wonder that any retailer still uses them

margotsdevil · 31/08/2018 19:01

I hate them too. Last week my parcel had simultaneously been delivered at 11am but also they were unable to find my address at 4pm although they mysteriously managed to find the door to put a "we missed you" card through the door Hmm and the parcel was returned to supplier. Useless idiots Angry

LtJudyHopps · 31/08/2018 19:05

ASOS do next day delivery and use DPD in my area who are much better than Hermes. You can order up to around 10pm as well :) Hermes and UK Mail are atrocious.

Ofthread · 31/08/2018 19:06

Yes, try Asos, they have options for Sunday delivery, Saturday, Saturday evening. They also have really good returns.

NationalShiteDay · 31/08/2018 19:08

I should say that my previous Hermes courier was fabulous. Unfortunately she quit.

Maudes thank you I will try that in future!
