Hermes have ruined my holiday

NationalShiteDay · 31/08/2018 17:25

I go on holiday next week, an attempt at a relaxing break (few nights somewhere close by in case it all goes tits up). I have bad PND and had ordered some new clothes to try and help me feel like I look a bit nicer on holiday. My local Hermes courier has them and I've waited in all day for them to deliver. They claimed to have attempted to deliver them this morning but I know for a fact this is lies. I was sat by the window with the baby asleep on me watching for the delivery when they claimed to have attempted.

I've been in touch with customer services who say they can't get in touch with the courier. They won't be able to attempt delivery again until I'm on holiday next week.

No new clothes for me Sad

Sorry I'm just wallowing in my own self pity here and needed a rant. I just wanted to look nice and not feel fat. The baby cries all the time if i try and go to the shops.

I'm 13 weeks pp and yes I have been to see the GP about my low mood.

Why do people lie instead of doing their job properly??

Hermes couriers often work on Saturday so hopefully you'll still get them. Especially if they were due today - thay'll probably want to clear the backlog.

5cats · 31/08/2018 19:13

WaxOn i'm in Scotland if that helps Grin
OP wish I could give you my Hermes lady.

GoatWoman · 31/08/2018 19:17

Lol at all the Hermes ladies pilling in!

Grin
5cats · 31/08/2018 19:21

GoatWoman I'm certainly not a Hermes delivery woman ( I can't drive for a start! ) Just saying that some couriers must be worse than others.

gilmoregal · 31/08/2018 19:21

Asos have next day delivery including over the weekend and you can still order tonight or next you can order until late for next day delivery and free next day delivery to store if you've got one locally. Both have buy now pay later options if you can't afford to spend again too and is great when PP for buying multiple sizes when you haven't got a clue what you need.

Hope you get sorted and have a lovely holiday.

LightastheBreeze · 31/08/2018 19:24

I also need to defend my lovely Hermes lady, she delivers the same time every day, Monday to Saturday and also leaves in a safe place if I am not in.

I think you have a crap courier and Next will use the same one, mine delivers Next, Longtallsally and Whitestuff. They do work Saturday and Sunday though so no excuse.

Mummyh2016 · 31/08/2018 19:24

ASOS use a mixture of Hermes and DPD just to let you know so be careful is doing an order with them.

LightastheBreeze · 31/08/2018 19:24

Oh and I am definitely not a Hermes courier

Land0r · 31/08/2018 19:24

I have had the experience once in particular where I was in my front garden, gardening all day, and they said they attempted to deliver. Big fat lie as I was in front all day!

Exactly the same happened to me with Hermes this week. I was out the front all day and they said they'd delivered to a secure location. They may well have done, but it wasn't a secure location at my house! The email just said 'successfully delivered to a secure location'' but gave no indication as to where this location might be. No card was left (as they hadn't tried to deliver to me!). The company I ordered from are trying to find out...

garethsouthgatesmrs · 31/08/2018 19:29

There's been a mess up on their part, but ordering clothes to be delivered at the last minute is what has messed up your holiday plans

There's always one isn't there! She ordered them to be delivered before her holiday. It specified today so she wasnt taking any risk was She?

OP I second everyone who says try next they stick their own stiff but they also have brands. Very are also next day and have loads of brands or asos.

Strongbeatsskinny · 31/08/2018 19:29

Our hermes delivery driver is awful and next do use Hermes as thier courier service

DragonNoodleCake · 31/08/2018 19:30

Where are you going on holiday? I sent to Spain and Portugal this year and each time took a case full. I regretted it both times as there was loads of shops and markets with pretty summer dresses at very ready prices. Hope your holiday makes you feel better Thanks

DragonNoodleCake · 31/08/2018 19:30

Went not sent

ineedaholidaynow · 31/08/2018 19:31

Have had issues with Hermes. One time I was tracking an order from Next, as it appears that the next day delivery had failed. But per the tracking advice it had been delivered. I phoned Next and on their records the courier had posted a photo of the door of the house where it had been delivered, unfortunately it wasn't my door! I went hunting round our estate for a door that matched the description and finally tracked down my parcel (same house number wrong street) In the meantime Next sent out a replacement parcel which was delivered correctly.

Hope you can get something sorted OP

crustyedges · 31/08/2018 19:38

Oh this happens a lot to me, really winds me up! Because we live in a block of flats which need to be buzzed in from the outside, half the time couriers say they attempt delivery on such and such day (which I wait in all day for!) and of course that is bullcrap because I've been in waiting for it Angry
I feel your pain op! Hope you are feeling a bit better now

garethsouthgatesmrs · 31/08/2018 19:39

Sorry didn't realise next were Hermes. Try Very.

QuestionableMouse · 31/08/2018 19:42

@TonTonMacoute

The pic was probably attached to the wrong order.

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/08/2018 19:43

They lost DD's phone. A kind MNer was sending her her old phone as she'll be walking home from school by herself this year. It's disappeared into the ether. The MNer was compensated, which she kindly passed on to me, but what if it had been something urgent?

HairyHiker · 31/08/2018 19:56

Wax I wondered that too

GreyGardens88 · 31/08/2018 19:56

I've had the same, but from Amazon. Waited all day for a package, no one came but then they tried to claim they attempted delivery! About time these courier companies stopped hiring shaved gorillas to deliver parcels

5cats · 31/08/2018 19:58

Hairy we could Grin
Or are women the better couriers all round?

HairyHiker · 31/08/2018 20:00

Lol at all the Hermes ladies pilling in!

Ha, sorry Goatwoman nope, I'm not a Hermes lady Smile

SendintheArdwolves · 31/08/2018 20:00

Hermes are famously terrible. They over book their drivers, have deliberately obstructive systems for passing on information and simply cannot be trusted. I am so glad \i don't work for their customer service call centre - it must be the worst job to have to deal with angry people all day.

I have to book couriers at work and after a few screw-ups I just refused to use Hermes ever again. My boss grumped a bit (they are the cheapest - surprise surprise) but it was just ridiculous. I will never use them again (unless I have to deliver a parcel to someone I dislike for some reason and want to waste their time).

I find ASOS has a brilliant delivery service - next day (without fail) will deliver to my local 24 hour shop and only costs ten quid for a year. Bargain.

WaxOnFeckOff · 31/08/2018 20:02

OOh 5cats me too! My lady is of "a certain age" and is quite short. dark hair and rounded. And very smiley.

And no, I'm not a Hermes courier, I just do a lot of on-line shopping and when you buy stuff in Next sale they tend to send it all out in drips and drabs so she can end up coming nearly every day in one week! Blush

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 31/08/2018 20:04

Hermes are notoriously abysmal. They managed to lose two fairly high value (for me) parcels from Gap. Luckily for me I ordered to collect from the store. Imagine the fun I’d have if they were to be delivered to my address.
