We have booked and paid to go to London for a concert tomorrow night.
Leaving at 6.30 pm tonight
She rang a hour ago saying she was ill with sickness bug and can't go.
It's too late to find anyone else to go.
So I'm loosing out on £90 train
£150 hotel and £79 concert ticket :-(
Do I go alone?
I know I won't enjoy it alone tho
Tomorrow was meant to be shopping then concert ..coming home on Saturday

£320 on a weekend with a friend. Goodness me. What a lot of money you young people spend

While celebrating OP's great weekend and with her friend joining her when she felt better - yay - still fulminating over this one.

Yes - you can book cheaper train tickets but £90 return isn't bad from the north of England (?) £150 isn't bad for 2 nights in a hotel in central London and £79 not bad for a top show if you can get into it. Especially when you're doing it at a weekend.

Trust me, I've tried cheaper hotels in London - £35 near Victoria - and I was sleeping in the basement next to the boiler room which kept rumbling all night as party goers came back - to say nothing of the lift going up and down all night. No windows to open .... I'm sure an Air BNB might have been cheaper but not so central.

Brilliant! So glad you did it, OP. Time to book the next one!

Well done OP, it's good to be pushed out of ones comfort zone. Glad you had a lovely time AND braved the trip on your own. Doing things we are a little scared of us good for the soul. Smile

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/09/2018 16:45

Well done OP - I'm proud of you - and lovely that your friend managed to join you for shopping!

I wouldn't worry about not sleeping - no0-one ever sleeps well when they aren't in their own bed (not the first couple of nights anyway), so that would probably have been the same anyway.

And glad you enjoyed the show!

letsdolunch321 · 03/09/2018 16:48
