We have booked and paid to go to London for a concert tomorrow night.
Leaving at 6.30 pm tonight
She rang a hour ago saying she was ill with sickness bug and can't go.
It's too late to find anyone else to go.
So I'm loosing out on £90 train
£150 hotel and £79 concert ticket :-(
Do I go alone?
I know I won't enjoy it alone tho
Tomorrow was meant to be shopping then concert ..coming home on Saturday
Gutted

Thisnamechanger · 31/08/2018 20:36

Following! If I'd been home If have gone with you OP. I love MN for threads like this 😊

celebrityskin · 31/08/2018 20:41

Desperate for an update! Well done for doing it. Hope you're having a fantastic time x

Confusedandfrightened · 31/08/2018 20:51

Well done for going Op, Wicked is amazing!! and you’ll feel so chuffed when you’ve done all that on your own, you’ll be doing it all the time then!Smile

tootruetoyou · 31/08/2018 21:23

She should have given you more notice. Surely she knew she was too sick to travel earlier in the day. I would be annoyed but I would go on my own.

Gbtch · 31/08/2018 22:19

Like others, I have done it on my own . Stayed overnight, ate out, seen a show etc. It's good! ( and safe)
The independence is empowering. Enjoy.

£320 on a weekend with a friend. Goodness me. What a lot of money you young people spend.

myrtleWilson · 31/08/2018 22:21

and thats the hottake from the thread Teacher Hmm

Hope you're having a great weekend OP!

cheval · 31/08/2018 22:36

Yes, do it solo. London is the best place for it. Too many of us are alone down here! So we are very welcoming to singles. Will be a great experience. Hope you go for it and have a fab time.let us know how it goes.

Ginormoustrawberry · 31/08/2018 23:13

Hmm

Could you BE anymore condescending?

PrimalLass · 31/08/2018 23:22

I'm not young and would spend that too.

SW6mama · 31/08/2018 23:23

Definitely go! Take a chance! I live in Central London and it’s the perfect place for people like you!!! More people flying solo in London than you can shake a stick at, and anyway Londoners really don’t judge like they do in the country. The best thing is that no-one is looking at you, no-one gives a fuck. However, if you need help just ask and you’ll find a city full of warmth and people happy to help. Go to the show, sail in just before it starts if you feel uncomfortable about being alone in the bar, book a table somewhere before with nice service, Sloane Square is a short walk (Colbert is good for people watching), Elizabeth St is nearby with gorge Thomas Cubitt pub, both lovely options or lots of options in Victoria itself obviously. Think of how proud of yourself you’ll be! And if you hate it then hide in your hotel! Bon chance et courage!!!!!

PolkaDoting · 31/08/2018 23:24

Grin Where does the OP say she is young?

Ceebs85 · 31/08/2018 23:34

Definitely go alone. Why should you both miss out??

SequinsOnEverything · 01/09/2018 00:00

How was the show op?

SlowCooked · 01/09/2018 00:06

This thread has made me wuite teary...how kind you all are to cheer on the OP! So nice and not at all viper like.

Another one hoping that you're having a blast OP!

Leontine · 01/09/2018 02:48

Same thing happened to me a few years ago, I was going to go alone but decided not to in the end. I now really regret it as the band I was due to see broke up not long after so I'll never get to see them again.

So, I'd go alone if I were you.

notangelinajolie · 01/09/2018 02:57

Aw OP please tell us how it went.

PenelopeFlintstone · 01/09/2018 03:14

I'd see if I could cancel the hotel as that's the biggest chunk of money. I travelled alone and hated it.

PenelopeFlintstone · 01/09/2018 03:16

Sorry - I didn't realise there were 14 pages and didn't RTFT!! I thought this was a new thread as I only got off MN an hour ago and didn't see it then

Mintylicious · 01/09/2018 05:09

Wonder how many colds and other illnesses Littlekitty1985 has spread around her office by refusing to stay at home when she’s unwell Hmm

Hope you went and had a brilliant time OP!

Urbanbeetler · 01/09/2018 05:30

I’m ancient would have no problem spending that on a weekend away. Good grief.

Hope you are having fun OP!

Bashun · 01/09/2018 05:32

How do you know that you don't like concerts if you have never been to one? Just sayin'

Bashun · 01/09/2018 05:37

Yes, it's called having fun while one is young. There's plenty of time to judge people for free when you're old....as you just demonstrated. Thanks

sofato5miles · 01/09/2018 05:40

OP has posted that the tickets are for Wicked and she is in her 30s for those incapable of RTFT before writing something meanHmm
